Chapter 8: The Savior Brought Meat!
When 1000 pounds of flour were delivered to the warehouse, Du Guan and Lin Zhoumin were on the brink of madness.
“Flour! This is flour!”
“This is the smell of wheat!”
Unable to resist, they grabbed a handful of flour and stuffed it into their mouths.
Though it was a bit dry, the taste was still a hundred times better than the nutrient liquid!
“Ancient people were amazing—how did they come up with the idea of making steamed buns out of flour!”
“Not just steamed buns—flour can make more delicious foods than you can imagine!”
While they ate, their mouths covered in flour, they continued chatting, faces lit up with excitement.
This was flour! Finally, they were seeing it in person!
They danced with joy, completely forgetting their usual composed demeanor as senior scientific experts.
“It’s too much! The Savior is so generous! With this flour, we can make one million, no, two million servings of nutrient liquid!”
The soldiers responsible for guarding and handling the supplies also secretly took a handful and squinted in delight.
It smelled so good! This food called “flour” smelled so delicious!
Next came the 2000 pounds of rice.
The rice was heavy, visually not as abundant as the flour, but still impressive.
They grabbed some rice, felt how hard it was, but still stuffed a handful into their mouths.
Crunch, crunch.
“The texture is crisp, and after chewing, it leaves a fragrant taste in the mouth—so this is the taste of rice!”
“Rich in nutrients. Eating it by itself can help evolve wood-type abilities, and if made into nutrient liquid, it might make 3 million servings!”
“My God, just these, and we can last for another half month in Xuanwu City!”
The weight lifted from their hearts, and they felt like children, ready to roll on the ground in joy.
Others watched in awe, as if witnessing a miracle.
A few soldiers who were responsible for the supply handling even knelt down.
Song Lufeng felt an indescribable gratitude. His savior had kept her word and truly delivered food.
And so much food!
But this was still not the end.
When 600 boxes of instant noodles and 50 boxes of sausages arrived at the warehouse, Lin Zhoumin and Du Guan almost got buried in them.
They were so happy that they were willing to be buried in food!
Opening a box, it felt like discovering treasure.
“The bag has words on it. This is instant noodles, and here’s how to eat it—soak it in hot water!”
“I could eat it without hot water!”
Crunch, crunch.
They ate with relish, looking blissful.
A few senior generals, strategists, and advisors couldn’t take it anymore. After consulting Song Lufeng, they each grabbed a package to try.
As they ate, they discovered something surprising.
“What’s in the bag? Seasoning? How do you eat it? Ah! My tongue is burning!”
“That’s called ‘spicy.’ Let me try mine. Wow! It tastes like ribs!”
“Mine is ‘mushroom chicken stew’ flavor. Wow! It smells amazing! I’d eat it even if it was dipped in something gross!”
“Turns out the bag lists the flavors! Mine is ‘shrimp and fish noodle flavor’—so this is what fish tastes like!”
It was like discovering a new world.
The senior officials of the base acted like children, exchanging different flavors.
Some squeezed the seasoning too hard, spilling it everywhere, and they quickly scooped it up and ate it when no one was watching.
Others secretly hid the remaining seasoning to bring back to their families.
Lin Zhoumin made a suggestion to Song Lufeng.
“Lord, using this delicious food to make nutrient liquid is a waste. I think it should be used as a reward.”
It was clear that the people would work harder for a single package of instant noodles.
Song Lufeng thought it was a good suggestion and agreed.
After eating the instant noodles, everyone’s eyes shifted to the sausages.
They couldn’t stop salivating.
The color was so appetizing—looked like meat!
“Everyone take one to try.”
Song Lufeng didn’t want to spoil the mood.
He wanted everyone to feel the grace of the Savior.
With his permission, everyone grabbed a sausage.
Song Lufeng glanced at the eager young soldiers.
“You all take one too.”
The young soldiers beamed with joy.
After getting the sausage, Shi Hai carefully peeled it open.
This old general, who would bravely face beastly foes, now treated the sausage as if it were fragile.
He tore off the plastic wrap to reveal the meat inside.
Taking a bite.
The full, rich taste of meat filled his mouth.
After the first bite, he stopped eating.
He wanted to save the rest to bring back for his daughter-in-law and grandson.
He had brought chicken meat back earlier, and the child ate two bites, their eyes lighting up and begging for more.
Now, they were probably waiting eagerly for him to return.
Others had similar thoughts. They ate a bite or two and quietly saved the rest.
The young orphans didn’t finish theirs either. They planned to save it for the next meal, or even for the meal after that.
They were afraid that once it was gone, they wouldn’t get more.
“The Savior is so wonderful, she is too kind!”
“She gave us so much food. After eating it, even if we die now, we would be happy!”
“This food is so precious!”
Seeing this, Song Lufeng decided to split the instant noodles and sausages into two boxes.
“Take two packs of noodles and one sausage back with you.”
The Savior was the best savior. He wanted everyone to feel grateful to her.
And they must be grateful!
This was a life-saving grace!
“But this isn’t right, we can’t just take everything for free!”
“What does the Savior need?”
Song Lufeng didn’t answer, letting them think for themselves.
After receiving the information from Gu Man, he said:
“The Savior sent 3000 pounds of meat—pork and mutton, from the golden age, long extinct!”
As soon as he spoke, the room fell silent.
Meat!
3000 pounds!
With this meat, they didn’t need to eat corpses!
They could make plenty of nutritious liquid, real, nourishing liquid that technology could never replicate!
Not only would it fill their stomachs, but it could also help evolve their abilities!
They were ecstatic—truly ecstatic!
A few of the younger generals couldn’t hold back their tears.
The older generals knew even more what this meant.
It meant that their children and grandchildren now had hope for growth and strength!
“Go clean out another storage room.”
The young soldiers immediately complied, quickly clearing out a storage room and making it spotless, gleaming.
This would be the storage room for the meat!
“Make some space.”
The soldiers stepped aside.
Then, like a miracle, the empty storage room began to fill with bags of pork and mutton.
The meat was pink and fresh-looking.
It smelled wonderful—unlike any fresh meat they had ever smelled before.
The mutton had a stronger flavor, a bit of a gamey smell.
A few people couldn’t handle it and vomited, but even then, they kept smelling it.
This wasn’t beast meat!
Beast meat was toxic, hard to swallow, and not fit for consumption. People only ate it when they absolutely had to, and even then, it wasn’t easy to catch.
But this meat was 100% fit for human consumption!
