Little Monster, You are on the Wrong Set! Chapter 3.1

Chapter 3: Danger

Ji! The painful scream echoed from the thicket.

A round and plump pink furry ball was firmly caught between the mutated Venus flytrap’s leaves, its robust sawtooth piercing through the furry ball’s body.

This was evidently a very painful situation. However, the pink furry ball only wriggled a bit, its large eyes moistened slightly, yet the speed of ingesting the poison was undeterred.

After a while, the leaf expanded, the sawtooth disengaged, and the pain subsided. The pink furry ball swiftly crawled towards the largest dark red poison droplet on the leaf.

For a mouthful of food, it would disregard anything.

A vibration ensued, and the leaf closed again, piercing through the furry ball’s body.

Ji! The scream was even more miserable than before, but the reward was substantial. A red poison droplet quickly entered the pink furry ball’s belly. Since climbing onto this Venus flytrap, it hadn’t moved an inch.

Months passed, and it gained a lot of weight, its color becoming more tender, and its flesh crystal clear. The originally upright leaves were now bent by its plump body, almost touching the ground.

A carrion beetle emerged from the soil, its tentacles gently swaying, sniffing the surrounding air.

It lifted its head, gazing at the leaf close to the ground. The leaf emitted a sweet fragrance, tempting it.

Sharp claws extended, hooking onto the leaf.

The leaf trembled slightly, suddenly closing.

Ji! A sudden and pitiful cry erupted – something was on top of it!

The carrion beetle swiftly swung its tentacles, exerting more force to pull the leaf, effortlessly prying open the sawtooth. A chubby meatball rolled out from the leaf, falling to the ground.

Ji ji… The meatball emitted an uneasy cry, falling dizzily to the ground, disoriented.

The carrion beetle immediately released the leaf, pouncing on the prey. Its sharp mouthparts ruthlessly bit off a piece of the translucent and tender flesh.

The pink furry ball cried out in pain, its plump body struggling violently, overturning the carrion beetle.

The carrion beetle lay on the ground, still chewing on the soft meat. The flesh looked very tender, but it was remarkably resilient. The carrion beetle’s mouthparts wriggled incessantly but couldn’t chew the meat into pieces. After a few minutes, it gave up, having to gulp down the meat bit by bit with a strained neck.

When the carrion beetle was focused on chewing, the pink furry ball burrowed into the soil, swiftly slipping away, making disgruntled squeaking sounds.

This grudge, it remembered!

The carrion beetle flipped its body, wanting to take another bite, only to find its prey had vanished. It lightly touched the soil with its tentacles, sniffing the residual scent, and its legs with sharp claws immediately dug into the soil, tracking.

The soil was pitch black, foul-smelling, and sticky, making it difficult to move. This reminded the pink furry ball of the abyss where it was born. The abyss scared it.

Escaping to a safe distance, it immediately crawled out of the soil, running towards a large rock. The rock was covered with holes, an excellent hiding place.

The pink furry ball crawled into one of the holes, but after a short while, it twisted out again, its soft body wrapped around a pebble and some soil, hauling them into the hole.

Spitting out the pebble and blocking the hole with soil, the crevices that weren’t sealed tightly were filled. In a moment, the hole on this rock disappeared. From the outside, it looked like a smooth protrusion, without any flaws.

In a blink, a carrion beetle emerged from the soil beneath the rock, gently swaying its tentacles, sniffing the lingering scent in the air.

It climbed onto the rock, using its hard limbs to tap a small protrusion, tentacles occasionally hanging down to probe, as if it found something but gained nothing.

Dudu dudu, the slight tapping sound continued. The pink furry ball cowered in the hole, not daring to breathe.

The scent was clearly here, why was there only a rock in front of it? The carrion beetle couldn’t comprehend. After tapping for a while, it lost patience, turned away from the rock, and burrowed into the soil.

The tapping sound ceased, but the pink furry ball still didn’t dare to come out. It waited for a while, ensuring the danger had moved far away, then used its plump body to push aside the small pebbles, crawling out of the hole.

It wiggled its buttocks, swiftly escaping from this dangerous place. Passing by the abyss, it seemed to think of something, a glint of determination flashed in its big eyes.

Hesitating for a moment, the pink furry ball suddenly let out a crisp, “Ji!”

This sound was full of the determination of a hero, quite imposing. The pink furry ball cautiously climbed into a nearby thicket close to the abyss, glancing around sneakily.

As it thought, those black fluids climbed up every day, searching for its traces. The damp marks on the ground crisscrossed, some already dried up, and some still very fresh.

It seemed that this place could not be visited in the future, unless absolutely necessary.

The pink furry ball shivered with its soft flesh, carefully observing for a while. Then, it swiftly crawled out of the thicket, using its body to wrap around some remaining black wet marks on the ground. The toxins in the wet marks were stored in its belly, and the remaining black mud was spit out.

A sticky sound emanated from the abyss, and those dreadful things sensed the approach of this little life.

The pink furry ball hurriedly ran towards the depths of the forest, its plump body rolling and crawling in panic. Finally, far away from the abyss, it climbed back onto the rock, spitting the toxins wrapped in its body into the hole it had hidden in before, sealing it with small pebbles exactly as before.

It didn’t know if this trap would be effective, but being prepared for every counterattack was never wrong.

It still seemed naive, yet it was a born assassin.

After completing its task, it collapsed on the ground for a while, then leisurely departed.

Ji ji, the soft and tender sounds were filled with pride and cunning.

As the pink furry ball passed through the area where the Venus flytraps grew, its big eyes stared and gleamed with desire. However, it seemed to instinctively know how to avoid danger, firmly leaving the place.

It needed to search for food again, but where would it find food? This dilemma weighed heavily on the pink furry ball’s heart.

After climbing for an unknown duration, the sky turned dark, and those mold-like whirlpools disappeared into the night, no longer visible. Exhausted, the pink furry ball lay flat on the ground, its round body slowly extending, turning into a thin pancake.

This was a way to relax, a method to quickly restore energy.

The hunger persisted like a shadow, and the itching was maddening. The pancake’s rhythmic rising and falling matched its rapid breathing. It really wanted to shout a few times, venting this pain that could never be escaped.

A tiny ant crawled from nearby, its tentacles lightly touching the pancake, seemingly determining whether it was food.

The pink furry ball suddenly stiffened, its undulating belly completely still, stretched tightly. It dared not breathe, not move, instinctively emitting the sweet scent of the Venus flytrap.

It’s food! The ant confirmed its judgment, crawling onto the pancake and biting the crust with its mouthpiece.

The pink furry ball’s spread-out body suddenly closed, enveloping the ant in its belly. Before the ant could struggle, it was dissolved into nutrients by the gastric fluid secreted by the furry ball. The nutrients were absorbed by the furry ball, just a bit, but enough to slightly alleviate that frantic itching.

The comfortable sensation made the pink furry ball happily shake.

Ji ji, ji ji! It excitedly called out, its soft body rolling in the dry leaves.

It was a natural master of escape and an eager learner as a hunter. From the Venus flytrap, it learned patience, how to lure prey, and how to deliver a deadly blow.

It continued to lie flat, completely spreading itself out, silently awaiting the next unwitting passerby.
