Chapter 15: She is so innocent
The neighbor, Mrs. Liu, heard the sound of a car in front of the courtyard gate and poked her head out to take a look. It was indeed Captain Fu who had returned!
She wiped her hands and hurried out, looking at the man in the driver’s seat, “Captain Fu?”
The man’s deep black eyes looked over at the sound of her voice.
Mrs. Liu was startled by the coldness in his eyes and managed to steady herself. She said, “You’re back so soon? Shengsheng said you were on a mission, I thought it would be ten days or half a month.”
Fu Cheng reluctantly softened his coldness a little in front of Mrs. Liu. He said, “I finished the matter, so I came back.”
Mrs. Liu breathed a sigh of relief, “It’s good that you came back quickly, Xiaochi hasn’t been eating much these past two days, and he doesn’t say much either.”
Mrs. Liu had been helping Song Shengsheng take care of the child these past two days.
Unexpectedly, Xiaochi, although he looked obedient and well-behaved, was actually very stubborn.
He was mature for his age.
Although he wouldn’t make trouble, he was… too stubborn.
He ate very little and didn’t say much.
When he was called to eat breakfast in the morning, his eyes were red as if he had been crying.
When asked what was wrong, he just held his small pale face and said he had just had a nightmare.
Fu Cheng remained calm and asked, “Mrs. Liu, is Xiaochi here with you?”
Mrs. Liu said, “Yes, Shengsheng asked me to take care of him for a few days.”
Fu Cheng didn’t have time to deal with his son for now. He remained calm and continued to ask, “Do you know where Shengsheng went?”
Mrs. Liu thought about Fu Cheng’s gloomy expression earlier and immediately understood what was going on as an experienced person.
“Didn’t Shengsheng tell you? She took a donkey cart with some villagers a few days ago and went back to her hometown.”
Fu Cheng hummed, his tense expression didn’t relax, he thought for a moment and said lightly, “I forgot, I’m going to pick her up now. Please take care of Xiaochi for me, Mrs. Liu.”
Mrs. Liu finally realized, so Fu Cheng had forgotten.
She had thought earlier that Song Shengsheng had lied to them and snuck out to do something bad.
She breathed a sigh of relief and waved her hand generously, “We’re neighbors, Captain Fu, don’t be so polite. You’ve borrowed food coupons and meat coupons from us many times.”
Fu Cheng put on his military cap, his handsome and deep features hidden in the shadows.
He told the driver to wait there and drove to Xiaoshui Village himself.
Song Shengsheng was still acting at home, eating and lying down, lying down and eating.
When she was asked to wash dishes, she pretended not to hear.
When she was asked to work, she silently shed tears.
Song Mother was annoyed by her lazy appearance and couldn’t bear it any longer. She dragged her to the small room and asked, “Did you really divorce Fu Cheng?”
Although marriage freedom was advocated now.
But getting a divorce was still a disgrace to the family.
However, Song Mother thought that the disgrace was temporary. Song Shengsheng, who was gluttonous, lazy, and not very honest, was naturally disliked by Fu Cheng.
Her divorce from Fu Cheng would also free up a place for her younger daughter.
It didn’t matter who she married, marrying her former brother-in-law could at least be considered knowing the person!
Song Shengsheng was gnawing on the last pear in the house, her lips stained with pear juice, sparkling and moist, she couldn’t have looked more beautiful.
She glanced at Zhao Xiaoning who was eavesdropping behind the door, deliberately stammering and pretending to be unable to speak.
Song Mother saw that her eyes were moist and she seemed hesitant to speak, she understood.
Song Shengsheng said a few words vaguely, “Mom, don’t pick at my wounds.”
Song Mother didn’t say anything else, and she didn’t mention the fact that she had eaten the last pear in the house.
Zhao Xiaoning, who was hiding behind the door, was overjoyed, she almost laughed out loud.
Sure enough, this life was no different from the last one.
She could use her knowledge of what would happen in the future to win over these big courtyard children in the capital one by one.
Zhao Xiaoning turned around and told the gossipy women in the village, deliberately spreading the news.
A divorced woman was worthless.
Especially this kind of woman who could be said to have been abandoned by her husband’s family, it would be even harder to find a good one for a second marriage.
The villagers murmured, “I knew that Song Shengsheng and Captain Fu wouldn’t last.”
“Don’t even mention it, Captain Fu is a college student from the capital, Song Shengsheng doesn’t even have any ink in her belly, how could they have anything to talk about?”
“A forced melon is not sweet, even if it’s ripe it’s useless.”
“Shengsheng is the most beautiful girl in our village, I wonder what kind of girl can win over Captain Fu in the future.”
“I thought they had a good relationship.”
“There are more and more people returning to the countryside these past two years, are there fewer divorces?”
“My nephew’s comrade-in-arms is a soldier under Captain Fu, I heard from his comrade-in-arms that Captain Fu has endured Shengsheng a lot, he couldn’t bear it anymore, otherwise who would want to go through all this trouble?”
“That’s right.”
The people in the village loved to gossip, and they couldn’t stand it when others lived better than them.
They wished everyone would rot in the mud. Seeing Song Shengsheng being driven back in a dejected state, they couldn’t have been happier.
Before they could finish their gossip, a military vehicle drove into the village.
Fu Cheng parked the car in front of Song’s house, he got out of the car, his army green clothes hadn’t even had time to change.
He was upright and cold.
He looked unattainable.
Song Father and Song Mother were so surprised when they saw the man suddenly appear that they couldn’t speak.
Song Shengsheng was gnawing on a pear next door.
Her neighbor was Shen Zhishu’s family.
Shen Zhishu’s father heard Song Mother scolding Song Shengsheng for eating the pear, so he called her over and gave her two from the basket.
Shen Zhishu’s family had two pear trees, they didn’t lack pears to eat.
In previous years, they would exchange them for food coupons with people in the city.
Song Shengsheng was sweet-tongued, she called Shen Zhishu’s father “Uncle Shen.”
For two fresh pears, she said a few more words, “The last time I went to Yangcheng, I met Brother Zhishu, he’s very popular with his classmates and teachers.”
After she finished speaking, Song Shengsheng felt a chill down her spine.
She turned her head and looked at the tall and cold figure in front of her, she was completely stunned.
She blinked her eyes, almost thinking she was hallucinating.
Fu Cheng stared at her rosy face, her plump lips stained with sweet juice, her slightly open lips revealed a soft and pink tongue, “Husband?”
Fu Cheng stepped forward and grabbed her wrist.
He squeezed with unprecedented force, as if he was afraid she would run away.
Song Shengsheng carefully looked at his expression, it was unfathomable, she couldn’t see anything.
This scheming and ruthless man, what was he thinking, he didn’t show anything on his face.
Song Shengsheng was dragged back to the Song family by him, directly into the small room she used to live in, the door slammed shut.
With a “bang”, it was completely locked.
Song Shengsheng looked at her silent husband, she was a little scared.
She gently scratched his palm, but the man remained unmoved.
She looked a little timid, her voice soft, she asked indirectly, “Husband, why are you here?”
