Chapter 7: Pursuing the Husband – Proximity Brings Favor
Yin Hanyu had been on a business trip to Hong Kong for a few days. After returning, he fell into an emo mood.
Yin Yichen looked at his older brother, utterly confused. “Bro, didn’t you successfully secure the Hong Kong project? Grandpa was so happy he couldn’t stop smiling. Why are you still so gloomy?”
Yin Hanyu didn’t say a word. He just sat on the balcony, drinking in silence, occasionally glancing at his phone.
But his phone remained quiet—not a single call, not even a text message.
Liar.
She said she wanted to marry him.
Yet he had been away on a business trip for an entire week, and she hadn’t even checked in on him once.
Frustrated, Yin Hanyu downed his drink in one gulp.
Yin Yichen was even more confused. He turned to Xu Wen beside him. “Special Assistant Xu, what’s wrong with my brother? We just won big, securing a billion-dollar project. Shouldn’t we be throwing a huge celebration?”
Xu Wen smirked knowingly and gestured for Yin Yichen to come closer.
Yin Yichen leaned in.
Xu Wen whispered, “What else? He’s heartbroken.”
Upon hearing this, Yin Hanyu’s face darkened, and he immediately threw his glass at Xu Wen and Yin Yichen.
“Get lost…”
Terrified, Xu Wen and Yin Yichen bolted out of the room, panting in relief at the doorway.
What a tyrant!
After catching his breath, Yin Yichen suddenly had a realization. “Could it be because of Lin Qingyou again?”
Xu Wen shrugged. “Who else? Apart from Miss Qingyou, who else could affect Boss like this?”
Yin Yichen gritted his teeth. “I swear, she’s my mortal enemy.”
Speak of the devil.
Just as he said that, the elevator doors opened, and Lin Qingyou stepped out.
“Lin Qingyou—”
Yin Yichen instantly stormed toward her aggressively.
“Hey, Yin Xiaosan.”
Lin Qingyou playfully waved at him.
Yin Yichen fumed. “I told you not to call me Yin Xiaosan!”
Lin Qingyou immediately corrected herself, “Oh, hey, Yin Laosan.”
Yin Yichen: “…”
Xu Wen: “…”
Miss Qingyou really has a way of driving people crazy.
“Lin Qingyou…” Yin Yichen started, but then suddenly realized something. “Wait, why are you here?”
Lin Qingyou replied, “I live here.”
“WHAT??!!!”
Yin Yichen’s eyes widened like saucers.
“When did you move in? How could you live here?”
“Why not?” Lin Qingyou said casually. “I moved in a few days ago.”
Unfortunately, Yin Hanyu had been away on a business trip.
This was the most luxurious high-end apartment complex in the capital. Everyone who lived here was either rich or powerful. And Yin Hanyu’s unit was one of the most expensive.
But Lin Qingyou didn’t lack money.
To be close to the water and get the moon first (take advantage of proximity), she had directly purchased the apartment right across from Yin Hanyu’s.
“Oh my god…” Yin Yichen instantly realized this was a disaster.
This enchantress had already bewitched his brother beyond saving.
And now she was moving right across from him?!
Wouldn’t that be like sending his brother straight into a spider’s web?!
Panicked, Yin Yichen immediately assumed a superhero defense stance.
“No, no, no! You can’t live here! You have to move out!”
Lin Qingyou arrogantly lifted her chin. “And who are you? Why should I listen to you?”
“My brother won’t allow you to stay here!”
“Then let him come tell me himself.”
“Fine!” Yin Yichen puffed up his chest, ready to barge in and tell his brother.
But the moment his hand touched the door, he suddenly hesitated.
Given how much his brother cared about Lin Qingyou, if he found out she had moved in across from him, wouldn’t he be over the moon?!
“Lin Qingyou, you need to leave—right now!” Yin Yichen desperately pulled out a black credit card. “Take this card, spend as much as you want, just move out!”
“Really?” Lin Qingyou’s eyes sparkled as she eagerly took the card.
“Hmph!” Yin Yichen instantly exploded in anger. “Lin Qingyou, you shallow and materialistic woman! How could you abandon my brother for a mere black card?! Is my brother really worth less than a credit card to you?! How could you do this to him?!”
Lin Qingyou blinked her big, innocent eyes. “But… wasn’t it you who gave me the card and asked me to leave?”
Yin Yichen: “…”
“Thanks, little brother-in-law!” Lin Qingyou cheerfully tucked the card into her bag. “I may not be short on money, but who would say no to more?”
Yin Yichen: “…”
Just as he was about to explode, the door behind them suddenly swung open.
There was no doubt—it was Yin Hanyu.
Dressed in a sleek black coat, his handsome features carried an air of exhaustion. After days of drinking and overwork, his deep eyes held a hint of red. Though tired, his face remained dangerously alluring.
“Darling, you’re finally back!”
Lin Qingyou threw herself into his arms.
She pounced so fast that Yin Hanyu was momentarily caught off guard, instinctively stepping back two paces. But his hands? They firmly held her in place.
Feeling the warmth of her body and her familiar scent, he felt alive again.
“Baby, I missed you so much! Did you miss me?”
Lin Qingyou looked up, her bright eyes shining as she gazed at him.
For a moment, Yin Hanyu didn’t respond, as if his soul was still catching up.
Suddenly, Lin Qingyou sniffed the air. “You smell like alcohol. Baby, have you been drinking?”
Yin Hanyu numbly nodded.
Her string of endearments had completely scrambled his brain.
Lin Qingyou pouted. “From now on, when I’m not around, you’re not allowed to drink.”
Yin Yichen nearly screamed. What kind of unreasonable demand was that?!
A businessman who doesn’t drink? Impossible!
But Yin Hanyu simply asked, “Why?”
Lin Qingyou replied matter-of-factly, “What if you get drunk and do something reckless? If I’m not there, wouldn’t that benefit some other little vixen?”
“I wouldn’t…” Yin Hanyu answered seriously.
But Lin Qingyou wasn’t buying it. “You already did that to me a few days ago when you were drunk. I don’t trust you anymore.”
Yin Hanyu: “…”
No comeback.
Meanwhile, Yin Yichen felt like his world was collapsing. “Oh my god, what did I just hear? My noble, pure, god-like brother was defiled by this enchantress?!”
“…”
“AHHHH! My brother is no longer pure!”
“…”
Yin Hanyu shot him a cold glare, instantly making Yin Yichen shut his mouth and wail internally.
Oh no. His brother was doomed.
“You moved in?” Yin Hanyu glanced at the apartment across from his.
“Yep!” Lin Qingyou pulled him inside, proudly showing off her decorations. “I moved in days ago. What do you think? Pretty cozy, right?”
“Doesn’t it feel like home?”
Home?
He had actually prepared a home for her long ago.
Every brick, every tree, every flower in that estate had been arranged according to her taste.
He had taken her there once, but that visit had ended in an ugly argument…
A single phone call from Leng Yifeng had made her threaten to leave.
Since then, even he had never gone back.
He would rather stay in cold hotels, in this empty apartment, than live in that house alone.
A home without her was not a home.
Memories without her were not memories.
