Chapter 25: So Poor
Song Shengsheng’s mouth was sore from his bite. Even after licking her lips with her tongue, she could still feel the stinging pain of the broken skin.
Fu Cheng was really ruthless. He bit so hard.
It was as if he wanted to bite her to death.
Song Shengsheng hadn’t expected him to suddenly do that to her. It seemed like he was angry because of the words she had said.
Song Shengsheng was a bully who was afraid of the strong. Her arrogant spirit was immediately extinguished by Fu Cheng’s two bites.
She felt a little frustrated and annoyed. She had been trying for half a month.
She had pretended to be obedient, and she had acted cute.
He was still the same to her as before. He didn’t seem to be more tolerant.
Song Shengsheng grumbled inwardly about all of Fu Cheng’s shortcomings, biting her lip as she glared at him.
Fu Cheng fed her half a bowl of brown sugar water.
He looked at her lips, his fingertip lightly touching the bite mark. “It’s broken.”
Song Shengsheng didn’t know where he got the nerve to say that.
She glared at him resentfully.
Fu Cheng smiled. “Poor thing.”
He leaned in again, his fingertip pinching her chin, slightly lifting her face. He couldn’t help but kiss her twice.
He tasted the sweetness of her mouth, and the bloody sweetness of the blood bead.
Fu Cheng’s voice was hoarse. “It won’t hurt anymore if I kiss you twice.”
Song Shengsheng was a little scared, so she didn’t dare to dodge.
Fu Cheng was gentle now. He casually picked her up and put her on his lap.
Her butt was practically sitting on the man’s strong waist and abdomen.
The muscle lines under his shirt were full and powerful, and his core strength was incredibly strong.
Song Shengsheng had experienced this man’s explosive power many times. She didn’t dare to move. She took a deep breath and then quietly negotiated with him. “Fu Cheng, can you not be so cold and hard to me? You’re not gentle at all.”
Fu Cheng’s hand unconsciously landed on her nape, gently kneading the soft, white flesh at the back of her neck. His smile was faint. “Song Shengsheng, why aren’t you calling me husband today?”
Song Shengsheng buried her face and didn’t say anything.
Fu Cheng didn’t know how long she could keep up this act of being obedient and well-behaved.
He rubbed her stomach and asked, “Does your stomach still hurt?”
Song Shengsheng shook her head honestly. It just felt bloated now. It didn’t really hurt anymore.
Fu Cheng thought that he should cook a small meal at home tomorrow. He would buy two chickens and some meat and ribs to make soup.
The food at the canteen wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either.
Her delicate body needed more nutrition.
He would have to find someone to watch her eat when he wasn’t home.
Fu Cheng really didn’t trust Song Shengsheng. Not only did she not take care of her son, but she also couldn’t take care of herself.
Last time she went into the kitchen, she burned her hand.
Although Fu Cheng knew she was probably acting, he was still worried about her.
Song Shengsheng was in his arms, her stomach being rubbed by him, she was drowsy.
She forced herself to stay awake. “By the way, there’s something I want to tell you.”
Fu Cheng paused. “What is it?”
Song Shengsheng yawned. “I want to find a job.”
Fu Cheng frowned when he heard that. He looked at her, his eyes deep. “My salary is one hundred and twenty yuan a month. I give it all to you. Is it not enough?”
Although Song Shengsheng thought Fu Cheng was fierce and insensitive.
But she had to admit that he was very generous to her.
One hundred and twenty yuan was enough for a normal family for several months.
It was definitely enough.
Song Shengsheng couldn’t tell Fu Cheng the truth. She couldn’t say she was making plans for their divorce in the future. She lowered her eyelids and mumbled softly. “Xiaochi has started kindergarten. I have nothing to do at home during the day, and you know, everyone in the compound looks down on me.”
“They’re either nurses or doctors, or they’re teachers.”
“I’m the only one at home who does nothing. My reputation isn’t good either. It’s not good for you either.”
Fu Cheng listened casually. “Don’t worry about them. We might not be in touch in a few years.”
Fu Cheng wasn’t just saying that. The country’s future trend would definitely be towards opening up. The number of educated youths returning to the city would be increasing year by year.
In a few years, he would take her back to the capital.
There would be no need to deal with these people in the military compound.
Song Shengsheng grabbed his sleeve, looking down and being obedient. Her mouth was sweet. “I, I can’t rely on you to support me forever. This is our little home that we built together, Comrade Fu Cheng. I, I should also contribute.”
Fu Cheng took her hand, squeezed it twice, and asked, “Didn’t you plan to read more books? How are you going to read books if you find a job?”
Song Shengsheng oh-ed. “I’ll read books properly when I get back from work. I’ve already found out that the dessert shop at the supply and marketing cooperative is hiring.”
Fu Cheng knew her very well. She was someone who would run away if she didn’t get any sweetness.
Even if she found an easy job, it would be a hardship for her.
She was so insistent on finding a job, there must be another reason.
If it was some other kind of bad intention, it would be fine.
But if it had something to do with her uncle, who was still being reformed at the farm, then it wouldn’t be so simple.
Song Shengsheng hadn’t noticed the change in his expression. She continued to chatter. “The cashier at the supply and marketing cooperative earns over twenty yuan a month, and they also give out food coupons. Husband, I’ll buy you a gift when I get my salary.”
She hadn’t even gotten the money yet, and she was already promising him something.
Although Fu Cheng wasn’t really willing to agree, he also knew her temper. If he tried to stop her, she would find another opportunity to make a big deal out of it.
Fu Cheng thought for a moment and touched her face. “Do you have to go?”
Song Shengsheng blinked and nodded without hesitation. “I have to.”
Fu Cheng also wanted to know what she was up to. He nodded. “Okay. Then go try it out. If you find it hard, don’t do it.”
Song Shengsheng had solved this problem. She could already see the beautiful future of freedom beckoning to her.
Her heart was filled with joy. She kissed his cheek without hesitation.
The palm of Fu Cheng’s hand, which was pressed against her waist, suddenly tightened. His eyes darkened, and he held her with a force that would crush her.
The man’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He said in a hoarse voice, “Don’t be silly at a time like this.”
Song Shengsheng thought he didn’t like being kissed by her.
She hummed and hawed, rubbing against him, thinking unhappily, he should find someone else to kiss him!
The next day.
Fu Cheng took a day off and didn’t go to the army.
Early in the morning, before she woke up, he went out to buy groceries.
Chickens and meat weren’t something you could buy just with coupons.
But Fu Cheng was a military officer, especially since even the leaders who lived in the cadre building were polite to him.
Others could tell that his identity was probably more than just a military officer.
Therefore, they would always leave him some of everything he wanted.
Fu Cheng bought some ribs and asked the chef at the canteen to help him kill a chicken.
He also went to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought some red dates, longan, and other things that were good for blood circulation.
On his way back, a voice suddenly emerged.
“Brother-in-law?”
A girl appeared in front of him, her eyes bright, looking at him with surprise.
Zhao Xiaoning had been waiting for a long time, her legs were numb from squatting.
She finally waited for Fu Cheng.
Zhao Xiaoning had specially worn a white cotton dress today. It wasn’t eye-catching, but it looked pretty.
She had tied her hair in a long braid, hanging by her side.
She tried to make herself look like a pure white jasmine.
Zhao Xiaoning remembered that Fu Cheng liked women to wear white cotton dresses, to look pure and innocent, preferably the kind of cute, clumsy girl.
She thought that she looked good today, and she would definitely make Fu Cheng take a second look and remember her.
Fu Cheng’s face was indifferent, and a cold aversion lurked in the depths of his eyes.
Zhao Xiaoning often incited Song Shengsheng to divorce him.
It could be said that she was partly responsible for Song Shengsheng running to Yangcheng to find Shen Zhishu.
Fu Cheng glanced at her, just as a greeting.
He didn’t even bother to look at her.
Zhao Xiaoning never expected that Fu Cheng wouldn’t even take a second look at her, even though she had dressed up carefully?
He was completely indifferent.
He didn’t even bother to acknowledge her.
It must be a mistake!
Zhao Xiaoning perked up and gave him a shy smile. “Brother-in-law, the textile factory is off today. I was just going to see you and my cousin. What a coincidence that I ran into you on the way.”
The sunlight reflected off the man’s indifferent, cold eyes. He didn’t show any courtesy. “Don’t disturb your cousin. She’s been feeling unwell these past few days.”
Zhao Xiaoning’s smile froze. “Then I’ll come another day.”
Fu Cheng spat out two words, making her face burn. “Unnecessary.”
