Su Yu raised an eyebrow as he looked at Wang Jinhe. After spending so much time together, this was the first time Su Yu had seen Wang Jinhe so determined to deal with people.
However, this was also good. Wang Jinhe’s temperament was indeed too soft at times, and using this opportunity to make an example would serve as a deterrent, ensuring that certain individuals would think twice before provoking her in the future.
Jingkong listened to the sounds of people being beaten around him, his forehead dripping with cold sweat. The screams made it clear just how much pain they were in.
He turned to the old monk, hoping for his intercession.
The old monk shook his head gently. He had to bear the consequences of his actions. He had caused trouble by believing slander without justification. If it had been an ordinary girl, would she still be alive?
“I know I was wrong Master.”
“Yuan Lin. you should take action now,” Wang Jinhe gave them a chance, even though they had come looking for trouble. It was a pity that some people simply didn’t take it seriously. Since that was the case, they would have to bear the consequences themselves.
“Even if the emperor were here today, You would still receive the same punishment. It doesn’t matter who comes,” Wang Jinhe said coldly, looking at the pleading Jingkong.
After Wang Jinhe finished speaking, Yuan Lin immediately began the punishment, and the terrified screams rang out with just one strike.
Wang Jinhe turned to the old monk. “Are you not afraid that someone like this will tarnish the reputation of your temple and affect the incense offerings?”
The old monk helplessly replied, “I will discipline him properly when we return.”
Wang Jinhe smiled without saying a word. Whether or not they disciplined Jingkong was not important to her.
“Who sent you to cause trouble for me?” The only ones who could cause trouble for her were just a few individuals, one of whom was Gu Xiruo, who was far away in the capital.
However, Gu Xiruo had been busy with her love triangle recently and had no time to cause trouble. Besides, her every move was being monitored, and any activity would be reported to them in advance.
That left only one person: Qiming, who had previously come to see Su Yu but left disappointed.
Was he now targeting her because he couldn’t deal with Su Yu?
Was Qiming underestimating her?
Jingkong couldn’t utter a word after being beaten, just shaking his head. He didn’t know who had approached him; it was the villagers who had told him about the supposed demon here.
Little did he know that he had walked right into a trap.
Wang Jinhe smiled silently. “So he didn’t know.”
Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe. “It’s Qiming.”
“I also thought it was him. What do you think he’s up to?” Wang Jinhe asked, referring to the group of people causing trouble for her.
“He probably thinks you’re weak and easy to bully,” Su Yu said, with a hint of amusement in his eyes as he looked at Wang Jinhe.
Frowning, Wang Jinhe once again reflected on herself. “Do I really look that easy to bully?”
Coughing lightly, Su Yu struggled to contain his laughter, unsure of how to respond to Wang Jinhe’s statement. He couldn’t come up with a suitable reply.
Wang Jinhe glanced at Su Yu. “Go ahead, I won’t get angry.”
“It’s not that you’re easy to bully, but you tend to leave room for maneuver,” Su Yu explained. However, the amount of leeway she left was quite significant, making her seem easy to bully.
In other words, she was like a ripe persimmon, easy to squeeze.
Wang Jinhe sighed softly. “It seems I’ve been too accommodating.”
As a result, she had been seen as an easy target, someone who could be manipulated at will. However, Qiming’s actions had been noted.
Su Yu reached out and ruffled Wang Jinhe’s hair, not saying much, just looking at her indulgently.
The place where she used to live was a completely different extreme from here, and the environment was very simple. It was understandable for her to act this way. Her actions this time did give him some reassurance.
Turning to Su Yu, Wang Jinhe said, “I’m angry. Qiming is bullying people too much.”
“What do you want to do?” Su Yu asked.
Wang Jinhe frowned. What could she do? Qiming was the prince of the Qi Empire. She couldn’t hit him or scold him. What could she do?
“It seems like we can’t do anything,” Wang Jinhe said, feeling frustrated. Qiming was not a person of Xuan Empire, and they couldn’t do anything about it. It was a truly suffocating feeling.
Seeing Wang Jinhe’s discontent, Su Yu said mysteriously, “It’s not that we can’t do anything at all.”
Wang Jinhe stared at Su Yu, practically begging him to continue.
“Leave this to Yuan Bao. We’ll come back out after the magistrate arrives. Oh, and the abbot will come with us too,” Su Yu suddenly remembered the abbot who was nearby.
The abbot looked at Su Yu with surprise. He remembered the last time he saw Su Yu, who had been full of malice towards everyone, even exuding a frightening aura.
Now, he had become calm and peaceful.
Today, when he saw Su Yu, if it weren’t for that face, he would have thought he had mistaken the person.
Looking at Wang Jinhe, it was because of this benefactor that he had let go of his hatred.
“You are doing well now,” the abbot suddenly spoke, looking at Su Yu.
Su Yu understood what the abbot was referring to and gave him a glance but remained silent.
“Daddy, we should go and practice martial arts,” Xiao Bao said, dragging Su Yu home.
“Alright.”
The abbot watched as Su Yu was dragged home by the two children, walking alongside Wang Jinhe.
Jingkong looked at the abbot, but he didn’t seem to care about his plea. He quickly spoke up, “Abbot, I was wrong. Please help me.”
The abbot turned to him, shaking his head with disappointment. “It’s not that I won’t help you, but what you did this time was too much.”
“I think you just can’t stand to see me doing well.”
Seeing the abbot’s disappointment, Wang Jinhe sighed softly, about to say something, but then she led him away.
“Some people just can’t be reasoned with,” the abbot remarked. When someone feels that others have ill intentions towards them, no amount of explanation will make a difference.
The abbot naturally understood Wang Jinhe’s intention and returned with her, shaking his head in disappointment.
After entering the house, they saw Su Yu teaching the two children martial arts techniques with great seriousness, and the children were also learning earnestly.
After watching for a while, the abbot turned to Wang Jinhe, who was making tea on the side. “Seeing benefactor Su this time really surprised me. I was wondering what had caused such a significant change in him, but now it seems it’s because of you.”
Wang Jinhe frowned at the abbot, not understanding what he meant.
“What are you trying to say?” Wang Jinhe asked coldly.
“The first time I saw benefactor Su, he was like a vengeful demon crawling out of hell, unable to control his murderous aura, and very vigilant of those around him. I was worried about him after that, but this meeting really surprised me,” the abbot said, seemingly oblivious to the coldness in Wang Jinhe’s eyes.
Wang Jinhe remained silent, feeling somewhat puzzled about his intentions. The mention of a vengeful demon crawling out of hell reminded her of how Yang Shanshan had described Su Yu.
