“Soundwave weapon!!”
Fistoa shouted loudly, perhaps out of fear of the unknown attack. The reaction of the two heroes was even more noticeable than Fistoa’s. The magical machines they controlled, clearly affected by the sound, began to struggle in pain.
“Feri, a-are you okay?!”
They looked so agonized that I couldn’t help but ask.
“Don’t worry. The fact that there’s a reaction means it’s working.”
After some time of writhing in pain, the two heroes suddenly stopped moving. Then, one of them spoke.
“Where is this? What am I doing?”
“It seems like we’re in battle. You must have lost your memory for a while, which means you were likely being controlled.”
“Hmph, I see. So, if I’ve regained my sanity, it means Feri is nearby.”
The hero spoke Feri’s name. In response, Feri called out to the two of them.
“Long time no see, Cluny, Duffstarl. It’s been since the battle with the Giant Beast.”
“Ah, it’s really you, Feri! What’s going on here?”
“As you can see, there’s no time to explain. Please follow this white magical machine and lend us your strength. The enemies have used mind control on you.”
“Well, I see. I guess I owe you a proper thank you.”
“Yes, a tenfold thank you is in order.”
Fistoa reacted to the hero’s words.
“Mind control is broken?! That’s impossible!”
Whether it was impossible or not, the heroes had indeed regained their sanity and turned to fight on our side. The tide of battle had shifted. The two heroes moved with sharper precision than when they were under mind control, attacking the surrounding enemies.
One hero’s golden magical machine launched numerous intense fireballs. Each fireball destroyed multiple enemy units.
The silver magical machine moved at lightning speed, striking down multiple enemy machines with a single, powerful swing of its sword.
As the battle situation around the flagship began to turn in our favor, I thought that if we defeated Fistoa and disrupted the command chain, the enemy would retreat. With that in mind, I ran towards Danatia and swung my sword, intending to strike her down.
“Stop!! I won’t let you cut this person down!”
However, Yukiha, riding Falcion, intervened. This was becoming quite a troublesome situation. I couldn’t cut down Yukiha, who was Ranelle’s sister, so reluctantly, I let Fistoa go. I briefly considered forcefully abducting Yukiha, but in this encircled situation, I couldn’t predict what would happen. I decided against taking such a risk.
Afterward, I fought off the endlessly approaching enemy machines and moved to regroup with Mayu and the main force. While we were still surrounded by the enemy, I felt a little more at ease with more allies around.
“The south seems to be weak. Let’s break through and escape the enemy’s encirclement.”
Following Fistina’s calm judgment, we focused our attacks on the southern enemies. The heroes’ offensive power was once again on full display. With overwhelming destruction, we wiped out the southern enemies in one fell swoop.
“Alright, let’s break through the enemy’s encirclement!”
We slipped through the gap opened by the heroes’ attacks and escaped the enemy’s siege. If we could make it to safety, this operation would be over, but things didn’t go as smoothly as expected.
“I’ve detected numerous enemy signals! A new enemy force has appeared! They’re surrounding us!”
Feri urgently warned in a strong tone. Looking up, I saw an enemy force of such a large scale that I couldn’t even count their numbers, advancing toward us.
