“Transmigrated into the 70s: Married a Soldier and Had Multiple Babies” Chapter 63

Chapter 63: Doubting if These People Have Collectively Gone Mad

“Xiuxiu, so it’s settled then. I’ll pick you up here tomorrow morning at nine.”

Jiang Yunhan parked his car at the entrance of Wu Xiuxiu’s alley, his face full of reluctance as he spoke to her.

On their way here, he had made an appointment with Xiuxiu to pick her up tomorrow morning at nine to go out and play, to visit the Forbidden City, to go on a date.

“Okay.” Wu Xiuxiu nodded, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

The Forbidden City was now open to the public, allowing tourists to visit. She had never been to the Forbidden City before, and neither had the original owner. So when her husband invited her to visit the Forbidden City tomorrow morning, she agreed without hesitation.

She knew that in modern times, she had many wishes, one of which was to have the opportunity to go to Beijing, visit the Forbidden City, climb the Great Wall, and visit Tiananmen Square.

Now, her first wish of visiting the Forbidden City was about to be fulfilled. She was truly happy, filled with anticipation, and couldn’t help but feel a little excited.

“I’ll get out now. You go and do your thing.” Wu Xiuxiu opened the car door, got out, and waved to her husband. “Be careful on the road.”

Jiang Yunhan reluctantly looked at Wu Xiuxiu one last time before driving away.

Wu Xiuxiu also felt a little reluctant to part with her husband. She watched Jiang Yunhan’s car leave until it was out of sight before entering the alley.

Aunt Xue!

As Wu Xiuxiu was about to reach the courtyard, she saw someone standing at the entrance of the courtyard. Taking a closer look, she realized it was Auntie Xue who lived in the second courtyard.

A hint of confusion flashed in Wu Xiuxiu’s eyes. What was she doing standing at the entrance? Was she waiting for someone?

Wu Xiuxiu never imagined that Auntie Xue was waiting for her. When Auntie Xue saw her, she actually showed a glimmer of joy, even a hint of excitement. She turned and shouted loudly to the courtyard:

“Xiuxiu is back! Xiuxiu is back…”

Wu Xiuxiu was a little bewildered. What was she doing? Could it be that she was deliberately standing at the entrance waiting for her? Why?

Why would she do that?

“Xiuxiu!” Before Wu Xiuxiu could figure it out, she saw Auntie Xue leave the entrance and run towards her.

“Is there something wrong?” Wu Xiuxiu frowned slightly.

“Xiuxiu, you child are so distant. You have such a big happy event and you actually kept it a secret from us.” Auntie Xue reproached her.

“Congratulations!” Aunt Xue suddenly flashed a smile, tinged with a hint of flattery, towards Wu Xiuxiu, offering her congratulations.

Wu Xiuxiu was even more confused. What was she talking about? She couldn’t understand at all.

What good news could she have that warranted congratulations, and a smile of flattery at that?

“You…”

“Xiuxiu, you’re finally back! We’ve been waiting for you for ages!”

Just as Wu Xiuxiu was about to ask Aunt Xue, she saw a large group of neighbors from the courtyard rushing out.

Wu Xiuxiu looked at them, utterly bewildered.

What on earth was going on? It wasn’t just Aunt Xue who was waiting for her at the front gate, but a whole bunch of neighbors from the courtyard.

“Xiuxiu, congratulations, congratulations!”

“Xiuxiu, you’re truly blessed…”

“I knew it when you were little, you were going to be blessed. You were going to be successful and prosperous when you grew up. I wasn’t wrong.”

“Xiuxiu, you’re too distant. You kept it a secret from us, not even a word. We’re not outsiders, we’re neighbors in the same courtyard, we’re like family.”

“Xiuxiu, you’re the pride of our courtyard, the light of our courtyard, the pride of our courtyard!”

“Yes, Xiuxiu, you’re the light of our courtyard, the pride of our courtyard… you’re amazing!”

The neighbors surrounded her, chattering away, each with their own words, but all with flattering expressions on their faces. Wu Xiuxiu furrowed her brow as she looked at them.

What was wrong with these people? The things they were saying were making her more and more confused.

She was the pride of the courtyard, the light of the courtyard, the pride of the courtyard. If someone didn’t know any better, they would think she had gone to do something glorious for the courtyard, like going to the battlefield and becoming a combat hero.

Ridiculous!

She was starting to suspect that these people had collectively taken the wrong medicine… or maybe they were poisoned, all gone mad…
