Wan Gu knew what Su Yu was thinking and subconsciously frowned, saying, “If you can’t remember, don’t bother.”
Su Yu didn’t speak, just shook his head, feeling that the forgotten matter was very important.
But he just couldn’t remember.
Recently, he had gradually recalled more things, but some seemed as if they had never happened. Once forgotten, they were impossible to recall.
Wan Gu didn’t like seeing him like this. He reached out and pressed Su Yu’s shoulder, saying seriously, “I’ve told you not to dwell on these things. No matter what you’ve forgotten, it will be revealed in the future.”
Was he dissatisfied with his current life? Was that why he was doing this?
Su Yu twitched at the corner of his mouth as he looked at Wan Gu, but what he said made sense.
“You’re right,” he really shouldn’t dwell on these things.
Wan Gu breathed a sigh of relief. It was a good thing that Su Yu wasn’t thinking about it.
In his experience, when a person forgets something and can’t recall it, there are only two possibilities. First, the matter isn’t important to the person, so they forget it. Second, the matter is too painful for them to think about. Su Yu’s situation was likely the latter, with little connection to the former.
“You have nothing to do with those matters anymore. Since you’ve forgotten, don’t dwell on them. It’s of no benefit to you,” Wan Gu said, still concerned, looking at Su Yu seriously.
Su Yu chuckled softly, looking at Wan Gu’s worried yet serious expression. “Wan Gu, you’re really quite amusing.”
Wan Gu choked. How could he say such things at a time like this? Was he still concerned about his appearance?
Seeing that Wan Gu seemed somewhat angry, Su Yu cleared his throat and smiled gently. “Don’t worry, I know everything you mentioned.”
Turning to the old abbot, who still seemed absent-minded, Wan Gu changed the subject and asked, “Is there anything else this person needs to ask?”
“Of course, there are more questions.”
He hadn’t yet understood the relationship between Qi Empire and Ling Empire, so he naturally needed to clarify.
“What is the relationship between Qi Empire and Ling Empire? Why do people from Ling Empire listen to Qi Empire?” Initially, Su Yu thought that the abbot was unaware of this matter. After all, it was such an important issue, and he didn’t think Qiming would tell him. However, he had underestimated the abbot’s position with Qiming.
“The Ling Empire Emperor’s favorite concubine was childhood friends with the Emperor of Qi Empire. She willingly married into Ling Empire in order to control it.”
Su Yu looked at the abbot in shock, his eyes filled with disbelief.
“And the concubine agreed to this?”
“She did.”
“Their previous visits to Xuan Empire were all orchestrated by them, with the aim of taking everything from Xuan Empire to Qi Empire.” Before Su Yu could continue questioning, the abbot continued speaking.
The words he spoke were extremely infuriating.
Wan Gu rubbed his chin, furrowing his brow. “Young master, the ambitions of the people from Qi Empire are truly grand. They began plotting to control Ling Empire over twenty years ago.”
Even their childhood friend was calculated out. What benefit did they see in this? Is power and status really that important?
“You can tell from Qiming. Just how ambitious is Qi Empire?” However, they were destined to be disappointed. They were formidable, but Xuan Empire was no pushover.
It seemed that preparations needed to be made.
Qiming wouldn’t miss the opportunity to act. Since that was the case, they might as well enjoy the despair brought about by their ambition.
Wan Gu remained silent, pondering the matter. He felt that something was not quite right.
“Young master, something seems off,” Wan Gu said.
Su Yu nodded. “Indeed, something is off. The most unsettling part is the role Qiming played in this matter and his position in Qi Empire.”
It seemed that his spies in other Empires needed to be activated. If things continued like this, he wouldn’t be able to control the situation between the various empires. If he couldn’t control the current situation, he wouldn’t be able to advise Xuan Feiran and the others.
“Is there anything else you want to ask?”
Su Yu shook his head. “Wake him up. I don’t have anything else to ask for now. I’ll come back when I remember what else I need to ask.”
“Understood.” Wan Gu shook the bell heavily, and the abbot’s vacant eyes gradually regained their luster.
In the instant he regained his senses, he looked at Wan Gu and the others warily and exclaimed, “What did you do to me?”
He remembered everything that had just happened. He didn’t know how, but they had somehow controlled him, causing him to say things he shouldn’t have.
Seeing Su Yu’s knowing expression, the abbot realized that he had revealed everything he should have kept to himself.
“Do you think I gave you that gu worm just for show?” Wan Gu sneered at the abbot.
He was dead serious, but some people always thought he was joking.
“Su Yu, let me go. I know your secret.”
Su Yu looked at the abbot. “Oh? I’d love to know what my secret is.”
The abbot’s reaction made Su Yu doubt himself. Did he really have a problem?
But if he did have a problem, why was there no reaction at all?
He couldn’t be mistaken. Su Yu did have a problem, and it wasn’t just him; even Wang Jinhe by his side had a problem.
“Wang Jinhe is a monster. No matter how you try to hide it, you can’t change the fact that she’s a monster.”
“You’re asking for trouble,” slandering Su Yu and now bringing up the lady. The young master will definitely be angry.
However, to the surprise of Wan Gu, the abbot remained calm and asked coldly, “Do you have any evidence?”
The word “evidence” left him completely dumbfounded. He had no evidence at all. Even if he knew that both Wang Jinhe and Su Yu had problems, no one would believe his words. Especially Wang Jinhe, who was now a hero to the people of Xuan Empire and the only one capable of changing the situation of food shortage.
If they said anything, no one would believe them. Not only would no one believe them, but they would also be seen as having ulterior motives.
Su Yu looked at him, silently chuckling at his speechless state.
“It seems you’ve figured it out.”
“You…”
“Keep an eye on him. This person is still useful,” Su Yu said coldly.
“Yes, young master. We will keep an eye on him and not give him a chance to escape.”
Su Yu turned and left. An opportunity to escape? He wouldn’t let him escape from here. Moreover, with Wan Gu’s gu worm, even if he did manage to escape, it wouldn’t be a significant problem. After all, no one would dare to attempt to challenge Wan Gu’s methods.
Su Yu returned to the study to write a letter to Xuan Feiran and the others.
He patted Lightning’s back. “Deliver this to the Emperor, and be careful not to get caught.”
