Chapter 10: Turning Around

“You can date one at a time.”

“No, that’s too inefficient. Besides, I need your help.”

“What kind of help?” Mo Sheng asked cautiously.

Not many people could assist the Flower Fairy.Sure enough, she pulled out a pile of items from her desk—a pair of thick black-framed glasses, a strangely shaped wig, oversized earrings big enough to be bracelets, and a garishly colorful outfit.

“What is all this for?” Mo Sheng stared at the bizarre collection.

“To make you look bad so I can stand out!”

“…So, I’m the sacrificial lamb?”

When it was time to leave work, the Flower Fairy dragged her downstairs. Just as they rushed out of the office, she suddenly gasped.

“Ah! I forgot my lucky lipstick!”

With a flurry of steps, she dashed back upstairs to retrieve the lipstick, claiming it was essential for success in blind dates.

Mo Sheng waited for her at the entrance when she suddenly felt a piercing gaze. Following the direction of the stare, she saw He Yichen.He met her eyes and gave a slight nod in greeting.Her heart skipped a beat. Was he here to see me? It had been nearly a month since their last awkward “silent dinner,” and they hadn’t spoken since. Could he really be here for me?Before she knew it, her feet had already started moving toward him.

“Why are you here?”

“Waiting for someone,” he replied simply.

“Oh… waiting for—”

“Yi Chen!”A soft, gentle voice cut in, and a beautiful, slender woman stepped into view. Mo Sheng felt her heart sink.

“The person I’m waiting for is here,” Yi Chen said calmly. Without another word, he left with the woman.

“…Oh. Alright. Bye.”She stood frozen, watching them walk toward the parking lot.

It wasn’t until the Flower Fairy appeared and yanked her away that she snapped out of her daze.

“Why are you standing there like an idiot? Hurry up! We’re late, and I still need to do your makeup. Remember, you have to make yourself look a little worse—”

There was no need to pretend.At the blind date, Mo Sheng’s blank expression and slow reactions unintentionally accentuated the Flower Fairy’s charm, making her stand out even more.

Over the past month, he had shown up every four or five days, each time leaving with that same beautiful woman. And now, on a weekend, he was here again.He never used to wait for me before.

“Mo Sheng! Mo Sheng!” The Flower Fairy’s excited voice pulled her from her thoughts.

“It’s the weekend, so you and I—”

“Alright.”

“Huh?” The Flower Fairy blinked in surprise.

“You don’t even know what I’m about to say.”

“A blind date,” Mo Sheng muttered unhappily. Given her “stellar performance” last time, the Flower Fairy had become obsessed with dragging her along to blind dates every weekend.But honestly, it was entertaining. She didn’t have to worry about impressing anyone. She just showed up, enjoyed the meal, and watched the Flower Fairy work her charm.Still, she asked, “Who is it this time?”

The Flower Fairy grinned. “A young and promising surgeon. Western cuisine. Perfect, right? Hahaha!”

Mo Sheng couldn’t help laughing at her enthusiasm. She really had a knack for finding better and better matches each time—yet somehow, they never worked out. Instead of potential partners, her dates always ended up becoming her good friends or even someone else’s husband.

At 29, she had sworn to herself that this year, she would get married.Because she needed extra time to “prepare,” Mo Sheng left work on time.

Inevitably, she ran into He Yichen downstairs.She kept her head down, hoping to slip past unnoticed. But just as she was about to walk by, the Flower Fairy suddenly stopped.

Her eyes locked onto He Yichen and the woman beside him, a sharp, almost dangerous look flashing across her face.

“That’s outrageous!” she hissed through clenched teeth.

Before Mo Sheng could react, she was yanked forward—right in front of Yi Chen and the other woman.
