“Yuan Xu, how long have you been with Su Yu?” Wang Jinhe, unable to focus on her work, found a place to sit down and asked Yuan Xu.
Seeing Wang Jinhe sitting casually on the edge of the field, Yuan Xu felt helpless. He hoped the young master wouldn’t worry when he found out.
“Madam, since you don’t feel like working, shall we go to the manor and talk?” Yuan Xu immediately understood that Wang Jinhe wanted to know about Su Yu’s past, especially what had happened between him and Qiming.
“Okay.” Wang Jinhe took Yuan Xu to the manor and found a quiet place to sit down.
Looking at Yuan Xu standing beside her, Wang Jinhe helplessly said, “Since we’re going to discuss matters, you might as well sit down.”
“Okay.”
After Yuan Xu sat down, Wang Jinhe asked about the past events once again.
“I have been with the young master for a few years less than Yuan Bao, but it has been over ten years. When I first met Su Yu ten years ago, he was still a teenager. At that time, Su Yu seemed invincible, as if nothing could faze him. As time passed, Su Yu became more and more formidable, but some things remained unchanged.”
“Do you also know about his acquaintance with Qiming?”
“I do.”
Su Yu’s acquaintance with Qiming was an accident. At that time, Qiming was traveling incognito and happened to meet Su Yu, who was doing business everywhere. For some reason, they got along quite well and met a few times. The young master liked Qiming very much, but because of this liking, he became passive in some matters, including the events of the past.
Wang Jinhe frowned at Yuan Xu. Why did he suddenly fall silent?
“What happened between Su Yu and Qiming later?” Wang Jinhe sensed that there might be some undisclosed matters between them.
“Probably in the second year of their acquaintance, they found a rare medicinal herb in a deep mountain that Qiming wanted. The young master accompanied him to find it, and during that time, Qiming was seriously injured. The young master carried him out of the mountain, and it took him nearly half a year to recover from that incident.” Yuan Xu and the others felt that it was unfair for Su Yu to have saved Qiming’s life, only to end up in such a situation.
“Does Qiming not know about this?”
Yuan Xu shook his head. “He doesn’t. He has always believed that his guards risked their lives to save him, because when he woke up, he only saw his guards and thought that the young master had abandoned him and left.”
This outcome is truly laughable.
Wang Jinhe furrowed her brow. “Didn’t he ever ask his guards about it? How could he misunderstand Su Yu like this?”
Yuan Xu chuckled sarcastically and whispered, “He did ask, but his guards told him that they had brought him out and that they hadn’t seen the young master when they arrived.”
“Qiming actually believed such a thing?” Wang Jinhe asked in disbelief.
Yuan Xu nodded. “Yes, he did.”
Wang Jinhe sat there in silence. How could a prince like Qiming not have noticed such a thing? He was not living up to the standards of a prince.
“What happened next?” Wang Jinhe took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and continued to ask.
“Madam, you have seen Qiming for some time, so you should know what kind of person he is. Perhaps he was sincere in his interactions with the young master before, but since this incident, his only concern for the young master has probably been for his own gain.” They had noticed Qiming’s changed attitude towards the young master since then. It was no longer as good as before, and Su Yu’s eyes always seemed to carry a sense of inquiry.
They had discussed these matters with the young master, but he had always acted as if nothing had happened.
Wang Jinhe was incredulous that such a thing had occurred.
“Didn’t Su Yu ever consider explaining?” She couldn’t believe that Su Yu, such an intelligent person, hadn’t noticed Qiming’s change in attitude towards him.
“The young master did consider it, but Qiming simply wouldn’t listen. Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that no matter what the young master said, Qiming would think he was just making excuses. That’s the extent of Qiming’s trust in the young master.”
“After a few attempts, the young master realized that Qiming didn’t want to listen, so his attitude towards Qiming began to change, and they had little contact with each other after that.”
“Until Qiming wanted to seize the throne in Qi and thought of the young master’s abilities, he came to Xuan Empire to find the young master. I believe you can guess what happened next,” Yuan Xu said to Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe frowned and remained silent, looking at Yuan Xu.
She did indeed know what happened later. Qiming had asked Su Yu to leave Xuan Empire and go to Qi to help him, hoping that Su Yu would give up everything for him—his family, his business, everything.
When Qiming came, he was probably very confident that Su Yu would agree as long as he asked. But he never expected that Su Yu not only refused, but also used the excuse of not wanting to enter the court.
Knowing Qiming’s treacherous nature, he would definitely not believe that Su Yu was telling the truth. He probably thought that Su Yu was deceiving him.
After being rejected, Qiming was unwilling to be treated this way by Su Yu and sought to use the Su Qin couple to force him to comply. Little did he know that in the previous life, Su Yu had died a tragic death because of him, and in this life, Su Yu was indifferent to anyone other than those he had acknowledged. Qiming’s attempt to use the same methods on Su Yu in this life was probably his biggest mistake.
“He will regret it,” Yuan Xu said.
“Whether he regrets it or not, the young master doesn’t care. He won’t even mention that he saved Qiming’s life,” Wang Jinhe nodded in understanding. What Yuan Xu said was true. Su Yu wouldn’t say it, and even if he did, Qiming would probably think that it was Su Yu’s own choice not to speak up and wouldn’t blame anyone else.
“That’s for the best,” Wang Jinhe suddenly said.
Yuan Xu looked at Wang Jinhe in astonishment, surprised by her unexpected statement. He wondered what was good about it.
Wang Jinhe smiled but remained silent.
Initially, Su Yu had helped Xuan Feiran to repay a debt from their past lives. However, as he spent more time with Xuan Feiran, his indulgence and fondness left a mark on Su Yu’s heart, making him a presence similar to Su Jiu.
If Qiming continued to provoke Su Yu, he might even help Xuan Empire to destroy Qi.
“Let’s go back,” Wang Jinhe said. There was nothing more to be done today, so it was best to return home.
“Okay.”
Yuan Xu followed Wang Jinhe back home, and when they arrived, Qiming and the others were no longer there.
Upon returning home, Wang Jinhe saw Su Yu drinking tea in the yard, looking incredibly relaxed.
Seeing Su Yu like this made Wang Jinhe somewhat envious. She walked over, pinched his face, and said irritably, “You seem so relaxed.”
She had been extremely worried, and yet here he was, leisurely drinking tea.
