Gu Yanqi looked at Su Yu awkwardly. He was neither leaving nor staying, and Su Yu remained silent. Gu Yanqi didn’t know if he could still buy the wine.
On the other side, when Gu Yanqi arrived, someone went to inform Wang Jinhe.
“Madam, Gu Yanqi has arrived, and the young master is entertaining him.”
“What is he here for?” Wang Jinhe asked in surprise at the messenger.
Since Su Yu was entertaining him, she wasn’t worried, but she was curious about Gu Yanqi’s purpose for coming. She didn’t think Wan Feng and the others could have completed everything in just two days. Moreover, even though they are fast, they couldn’t have reached the distant capital in just two days and nights.
“He wants to buy the wine from Madam.”
“Why didn’t he go to Su Yu if he wanted to buy wine? What’s he doing here?” Wang Jinhe frowned.
“He initially wanted to buy the brewing recipe, but after being turned down, he said he wanted to buy the wine. However, the young master told him that the available wine had been sold, and the others couldn’t be sold. Gu Yanqi felt that the young master was deceiving him.”
“Is Su Yu angry?” Being questioned like this, Su Yu would probably be furious.
The person below nodded, confirming that the young master was indeed angry.
“After I’ve sorted things out, I’ll go back with you,” she said. She was curious to see what kind of person the other child from the Gu family, aside from Gu Xiruo, would be. She hoped not to be disappointed.
Wang Jinhe went to the homestead and found Liang, the steward. “Liang, I’ve inspected the fields. Pay attention to what I mentioned earlier. If there are any issues, have someone come and find me.”
“Yes, Madam,” he agreed readily on the surface, but inwardly, he felt somewhat helpless. They didn’t dare to bring these matters to the attention of the Madam. If they went to the Madam’s husband, they would definitely not receive a warm reception.
After instructing Liang on everything, Wang Jinhe returned home with the messenger.
Upon returning, she noticed that the atmosphere was somewhat off. Su Yu was sitting and reading, and there was someone standing beside him with a strange expression, looking somewhat uneasy.
This person must be Gu Yanqi, right?
Approaching and looking at the other person, Wang Jinhe’s curiosity was piqued. “Su Yu, who’s come to buy wine from us?” she asked, feigning curiosity as if she really didn’t know who the visitor was.
“Gu Yanqi, Gu Xiruo’s brother. Didn’t you meet Gu Xiruo when you were in the capital?” Su Yu set down his book and smiled.
Wang Jinhe frowned. “So, he’s Gu Xiruo’s brother. Can I refuse to sell him the wine?”
“This is your winery, you can do as you please,” Su Yu replied.
Gu Yanqi frowned. “Why won’t you sell to me?”
“Gu Sheng is your father, right?” Wang Jinhe looked at Gu Yanqi and asked.
Gu Yanqi hesitated for a moment, then nodded lightly. “Yes, he is my father.”
“Exactly. Last year, when Gu Xiruo fell ill, your father and his people came to my house. They first tried to buy me with a hundred taels, then later asked me to use my heart blood to save someone. What’s the reason for that?” Wang Jinhe continued, her tone firm.
“Later, Qing Yukong came. At the time, he said he is only asking for a bit of my heart blood. What kind of illness did your sister have that required me to use my own heart blood to save her?”
Gu Yanqi frowned, realizing he was completely unaware of this matter.
“After Su Yu and I returned to the capital, I received numerous invitations as a county princess. I held a banquet once, and guess what? Your sister started causing trouble for me. Why would she do that?” Wang Jinhe looked at Gu Yanqi, asking each question deliberately.
Gu Yanqi’s expression turned grim, and his complexion darkened as he said, “I had no knowledge of this matter.”
“Just because you didn’t know doesn’t mean it didn’t happen,” Su Yu said coldly.
In that moment, Gu Yanqi’s face turned somewhat pale, and he looked at Wang Jinhe. For some reason, hearing them talk about this made him feel extremely uncomfortable, especially when he saw Wang Jinhe glaring at him. It felt like their relationship shouldn’t be like this.
“I will investigate this matter, Your Highness…” Gu Yanqi said to Wang Jinhe with a hint of bitterness.
Upon hearing his words, Wang Jinhe chuckled softly. “That won’t be necessary.”
The mention of an investigation made Gu Yanqi fall silent once again. Seeing the mocking look on Wang Jinhe’s face, he hurriedly added, “I don’t doubt your words.”
“That’s not important,” Wang Jinhe said coldly.
As a member of the Gu family, she had no favorable opinion of him.
“But…”
“Mr. Gu, if you’re here to buy wine, you can leave. I won’t sell to you,” Wang Jinhe suddenly interjected, observing Gu Yanqi’s anxious expression.
Frowning slightly at Wang Jinhe’s actions, Gu Yanqi voiced his objections, “Your Highness, our cooperation could be mutually beneficial.”
“Why would I let my enemy make money?” Wang Jinhe looked directly at Gu Yanqi and said mockingly.
Gu Yanqi opened his mouth to say something but couldn’t find the words. He felt extremely uncomfortable due to Wang Jinhe’s hostility.
“Do we have any kind of relationship, Your Highness?” Gu Yanqi couldn’t help but ask.
Wang Jinhe paused, then mockingly replied, “Do you consider enemies as a relationship?”
Gu Yanqi fell silent. That wasn’t what he meant.
“Mr. Gu, aside from being enemies, we have no other relationship with your family,” Wang Jinhe casually adjusted her sleeve and said calmly.
However, Gu Yanqi didn’t believe it was true.
“I feel like we are very familiar with each other…”
“What are you trying to do, Mr. Gu?” Wang Jinhe frowned and spoke displeasedly.
Su Yu looked at Gu Yanqi, who seemed anxious and even incoherent, with a playful glint in his eyes.
Gu Yanqi’s intuition was quite sharp, but unfortunately, his family members lacked that sensitivity, especially Gu Sheng and his wife, who were simply oblivious.
“Please leave.”
Gu Yanqi wanted to say something more, but seeing Wang Jinhe’s displeased expression, he felt uncomfortable. He still believed that their relationship shouldn’t be like this.
“Who is she, Your Highness?” Gu Yanqi looked at Su Yu and asked.
“Who do you think Xiao He is?” Su Yu countered without answering.
Gu Yanqi was taken aback by the question. He looked at Su Yu in bewilderment. He didn’t know who Wang Jinhe was, but he felt that she was indeed very familiar.
Familiar enough to make him question their relationship.
“Please be clear, Your Highness,” Gu Yanqi said hoarsely.
Su Yu looked at Gu Yanqi with a mocking expression. “Why do you think I should provide you with answers? Isn’t this your own business?”
Gu Yanqi felt that Su Yu’s words were strange. It seemed like there really was a relationship between them, but Su Yu was unwilling to tell him.
“Your Highness…”
“Mr. Gu, it’s time for you to leave. Xiao He doesn’t want to see you. Your presence would only upset her,” Su Yu said firmly.
