Chapter 44: Anything Else Hurt?
The crowd automatically parted, and a young man walked over, squatting down with his back to Su Yiren.
“Get on.” His voice was gentle, but it was not to be questioned.
Su Yiren recognized him. He was Sheng Tianhao, Sheng Jiaer’s brother.
They were strangers, and he was willing to carry her on his back. Su Yiren was very grateful.
But he was a stranger after all, and it was inappropriate for her to be carried by him. However, he was well-intentioned, and she couldn’t refuse him in front of everyone.
Su Yiren hesitated for a moment and said softly,
“Thank you, Mr. Sheng. You can just help me up. I’m sorry to trouble you.”
Sheng Tianhao turned his head and looked at her. Seeing Su Yiren’s clear and determined eyes, she had a soft and harmless appearance, but because of these eyes, she was like a snow lotus growing in the crevices of a cliff, elegant and detached, yet tenacious and noble.
Sheng Tianhao’s heart moved slightly.
He turned around and said softly,
“Alright.” He extended his arm.
Su Yiren held onto his firm arm and struggled to stand up.
Her ankle suddenly ached, and she let out a cry. Cold sweat immediately streamed down her face.
Sheng Tianhao frowned. At this moment, he really wanted to pick her up, but thinking of her distant and indifferent gaze just now, he suppressed the urge to hug her and asked softly,
“Can you hold on?”
Su Yiren bit her lip and nodded,
“I can.” She took another step forward.
At this time, a staff member pushed a wheelchair over. Seeing this, Manager Chen hurriedly shouted,
“Hurry, hurry, hurry! Bring the wheelchair down!”
Seeing the two staff members carrying the wheelchair down the stairs, Su Yiren finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Manager Chen hurriedly arranged,
“Mrs. Lu, sit in the wheelchair, we’ll carry you up!”
Su Yiren, with Sheng Tianhao’s support, carefully sat in the wheelchair.
Just as the two were about to lift the wheelchair, a man quickly walked down the stairs.
It was more like “rushing” than “walking.”
“Lu Yunting?” Su Yiren was startled and subconsciously asked,
“How did you get here?”
Lu Yunting quickly walked to the front of the wheelchair and squatted down.
He gently grasped Su Yiren’s ankle and quickly examined it.
No fracture.
He breathed a sigh of relief, stood up slightly, and then picked up Su Yiren horizontally.
Lu Yunting’s face was solemn, his hard jawline was tense, and he said nothing as he walked up the stairs.
To her question, he only said in a low voice, “Hold on tight,” then strode up the steps.
Su Yiren could only hold onto his collar tightly.
Lu Yunting lowered his eyes and glanced at her dusty appearance. His lips tightened, and he quickly went upstairs.
Sheng Tianhao stood in place, looking up at their backs quickly disappearing into the stairwell, his eyebrows suddenly raised.
It seemed that his previous conclusion was too hasty.
Although he only glanced at them briefly, he noticed that Lu Yunting’s eyes and eyebrows were filled with tension.
If their husband and wife truly had no feelings, how could he be in such a hurry to come here?
This expression was definitely not fake.
Sheng Tianhao curled his lips. This couple was really interesting.
Lu Yunting didn’t wait for the staff to carry the wheelchair up, he directly carried Su Yiren to the elevator.
Zhou Tong had been following them all along. He pressed the elevator button for them to enter. Lu Yunting walked and asked,
“Has the hospital been contacted?”
Zhou Tong: “Yes, our branch hospital is nearby. The ambulance should be here soon.”
Lu Yunting nodded, entered the elevator, and then looked down at her, asking,
“Anything else hurt?”
“My ankle hurts.”
After Su Yiren answered, she noticed that his arm holding her had stiffened a bit, and she suddenly felt very awkward.
Seeing that they had already entered the elevator, she struggled,
“I can get down.”
“Don’t move.” Lu Yunting frowned,
“Don’t you want these two legs anymore?”
Su Yiren shifted her gaze uncomfortably and said,
“It’s not that serious.”
Lu Yunting saw her small movements from the corner of his eye and felt displeased. He suddenly lowered his arm holding her by an inch.
Su Yiren was startled and quickly grabbed his shirt, staring at him and asking,
“Do you want to drop me?”
Lu Yunting retorted, “Didn’t you say it wasn’t that serious?”
Su Yiren: “…You’re a perfectly good person, but you have a big mouth.”
“It’s better than you. You can fall and break your foot just walking down stairs.” Lu Yunting retorted with disdain.
“I!” Su Yiren wanted to argue, to tell him that someone had pushed her from behind, but the words died in her throat.
Forget it, what’s the point of talking to him about this?
He would probably think she was a conspiracy theorist, or he would say she deserved it.
He would definitely not let out a good fart.
Seeing that she was unusually quiet and not arguing with him, Lu Yunting was actually quite surprised.
Just as the elevator reached a floor, he didn’t say anything else, and carried her out of the elevator in big strides.
The ambulance was indeed parked in front of the building. The medical staff were carrying a stretcher and were about to walk inside. Lu Yunting, without stopping, said,
“Get in first.”
Chen, the person in charge of the venue, came down from another elevator and hurriedly chased after them, nervously saying,
“Mr. Lu, I’m so sorry! I’ll go to the hospital with you. We’ll cover all the medical expenses.”
Lu Yunting, with the help of the medical staff, carefully placed Su Yiren in the car, then turned around and looked at him, his eyes cold as ice,
“Why did the venue suddenly lose power? You better give me a reasonable explanation later.”
On his way to find Su Yiren, he heard the gossip around him. They said that the stairwell suddenly lost power and someone fell down the stairs.
He thought that because of the power outage, Su Yiren couldn’t take the elevator, so she took the stairs.
Although she fell down because of her own carelessness, it was directly related to the organizer.
But for now, Su Yiren’s injury was more important. He didn’t bother with Manager Chen anymore and directly got into the ambulance.
This short sentence made Manager Chen’s back sweat profusely.
After the ambulance roared away, he immediately ordered the staff,
“Go to the control room and ask why the power suddenly went out!”
Lu Yunting’s eyes just now were like he was going to eat him. He felt uneasy.
Offending Lu Yunting was equivalent to offending half of Jiang City. He couldn’t afford to take that risk.
On the second floor railing, Ouyang Shasha coldly watched the commotion just now. Her eyes were filled with resentment and jealousy.
Thinking of Lu Yunting carrying her in a hurry just now, Ouyang Shasha was so angry that she gnashed her teeth, and said with gritted teeth,
“Su Yiren, why didn’t you just fall to your death!”
In the ambulance.
Lu Yunting watched the medical staff carefully examine Su Yiren. He was relieved to learn that she only had a sprained ankle, a few scratches on her knees and palms, and no fracture.
As his tension eased, Lu Yunting felt the pain in his injured arm.
He was about to raise his hand to touch it when he heard Su Yiren say urgently,
“Your hand is bleeding!”
Lu Yunting lowered his eyes and found a winding line of blood flowing from his sleeve.
