My Sunshine
My Sunshine Chapter 14

Seeing her obviously confused expression, Yi Chen’s eyes darkened gradually.

“Never mind!”He spat out the words coldly, abruptly turned around, and walked away swiftly.

Mo Sheng remained bewildered until she suddenly found herself standing before the familiar yet distant gates of C University.

This was actually C University? She looked back in astonishment at the bustling street she had just passed.

That street… was Lao Bei Street?Had she and Yi Chen really walked along Old North Street so many times in the past? How was that even possible?Where were the lively night markets, the street vendors, and the cheap yet delicious snack stalls that once lined the road?

“Did you not come to see me after returning to China?” Yi Chen asked, his voice now much calmer.

“No, I…” It wasn’t that she didn’t want to come. It was just that… “I’ve been too busy with work.” She hesitated, even finding her own excuse ridiculous.

Yi Chen cast her a glance and said flatly, “You don’t need to explain. I understand.”

Understand what? She didn’t understand. They walked into C University together. A century-old institution wouldn’t change much. As Mo Sheng stepped inside, it felt as if she were walking through an old dream.

The towering trees, the aging dormitory buildings, the students passing by with carefree laughter… A wave of melancholy and bittersweet nostalgia swelled within her chest.

At this moment, more than ever, she realized just how many years she had truly been away.

“Hey!” Mo Sheng pointed toward a small grocery store at the corner of the road. “That shop is still here! I wonder if it’s still run by that old couple.”

“No,” Yi Chen replied. “It changed owners before I even graduated.”

“Oh,” Mo Sheng murmured softly. She then looked up and said with a smile, “I’m going to buy something to eat. I’m starving.”

The store now had a young female owner, who was busy tending to her children while greeting customers. Mo Sheng bought a loaf of bread and a Coke, while Yi Chen picked up a can of beer.

As always, he was the one who paid. She suddenly recalled how they used to argue over who would cover the bill.

Back then, she had been too young to understand a man’s pride and dignity.

Yi Chen must have found it exhausting to be with her.

“When did you start drinking?” she asked casually.

But the moment the words left her lips, memories of the passionate, alcohol-scented kiss from last night flooded her mind. Embarrassed, she quickly turned her head away.

“Just in the past few years,” he replied after a brief silence, his tone indifferent.Yes, just these past few years.

“Let’s find a place to sit,” she suggested.

Even at 8 p.m., the university playground was still lively. Young students jogged or played sports, while older professors took leisurely evening strolls.

As they sat on the edge of the track, Mo Sheng smiled and said, “This playground holds some of my most painful memories.”

Yi Chen let out a rare smile. “The 800-meter run?”

“Exactly.” Mo Sheng admitted, slightly embarrassed.

“My best time was 4 minutes and 10 seconds. I still remember how shocked you were when you said…”She suddenly stopped mid-sentence, feeling Yi Chen’s deep gaze fixed on her.

“What did I say?” he asked.Tell me, Zhao Mo Sheng, you run so slowly—how did you ever catch up with me?

“…Hey, isn’t that Professor Zhou from your department?” she quickly changed the subject, pointing at an elderly man walking nearby.

Yi Chen followed her gaze, nodded, and stood up. “I’ll go say hello.”
