Chapter 83: Could She Be Cheating?
“What are you looking at?” Si Hong followed her gaze, his eyes widening when he saw the car.
He recognized the license plate. It belonged to Lu Yunting.
Su Yiren withdrew her gaze and said nonchalantly,
“Nothing. Let’s go.”
As they turned to leave, they heard the sound of a car door opening behind them.
Then, a girl’s voice called out uncertainly,
“Sister-in-law?”
Su Yiren hesitated for a moment but didn’t turn around. She continued walking.
But the girl wouldn’t give up. She ran towards them.
“Sister-in-law, why aren’t you paying attention to me? You wouldn’t forget me, would you?”
The girl had caught up to them. Su Yiren had no choice but to turn around and face the speaker. Pretending she had just heard, she immediately put on a smile.
“Xiao Yu? Long time no see! You’re back from abroad?”
“Mhm!” Shen Tongyu immediately smiled.
“I knew it! Sister-in-law, you’re actually in Rongcheng!” She then turned to the man who had just gotten out of the car and shouted,
“Uncle! Sister-in-law is here! Didn’t you say she was on a business trip? How come she’s here?”
Lu Yunting was wearing casual attire, his face was ashen as he stood by the car door, motionless.
He didn’t even look at Su Yiren. He simply said to Shen Tongyu with a cold face,
“Come here, you’ve got the wrong person.”
Shen Tongyu scratched her head, clearly confused about the situation. She looked from one to the other.
“No way! She’s my sister-in-law!” She then saw Lu Yunting striding towards the neighboring villa and quickly followed him, shouting back to Su Yiren as she ran,
“Sister-in-law! I’ll send you a WeChat message later!”
Su Yiren watched them both enter the neighboring villa and turned back to ask Si Hong,
“Who owns this villa?”
Si Hong shook his head, not knowing either.
“This villa has been vacant for a while. I haven’t seen anyone living here.”
Su Yiren hadn’t expected to run into Lu Yunting here. Her face was a bit pale, and her mood wasn’t as high as before.
“Forget it, let’s go.”
Si Hong glanced back at the villa and asked her,
“Who is that child?”
“Lu Yunting’s sister’s daughter. She’s seven years old. She was at a summer camp abroad and just came back.”
As soon as she finished speaking, her phone dinged.
Su Yiren opened it and saw that it was a WeChat message from Shen Tongyu.
【Xiao Yu: Sister-in-law, did you and Uncle have a fight?】
Su Yiren hesitated for a moment before replying,
【Yeah, kind of.】
Shen Tongyu was a smart kid. She could tell that something was off. Su Yiren didn’t think it was necessary to lie to her.
Besides, she didn’t want to lie to a child.
They walked a few steps forward, and WeChat dinged twice more. Su Yiren looked at it as she walked.
【Xiao Yu: It must be Uncle’s fault.】
【Xiao Yu: No wonder Grandpa whipped him. Is it because he made you angry that he got punished?】
Su Yiren stopped in her tracks. Her eyes were fixed on those few lines. Her thumb hesitated for a moment over the screen, but she didn’t press it.
Lu Yunting was whipped by his grandfather?
It must be because of their divorce.
Although she didn’t see Grandpa when she left, she would send messages every day to inquire about Jiang Jin Yun’s health.
She only felt relieved when the old man recovered.
However, Jiang Jin Yun never mentioned Lu Yunting being punished.
It seemed they both didn’t want her to know.
Learning about this by accident, Su Yiren’s heart was in turmoil.
They had just reached a crosswalk. She was about to step forward when Si Hong pulled her back by the arm.
“Red light.” Si Hong frowned helplessly.
“Don’t think about things while walking. It’s dangerous.”
“Sorry.” Su Yiren reflexively apologized. She knew she shouldn’t think about Lu Yunting anymore, but she couldn’t help but think about him.
“You don’t need to apologize to me,” Si Hong’s voice was soft, devoid of emotion.
“If you’ve made a choice, let it go. If you can’t let it go, find a way to fix it.”
Su Yiren looked at him in surprise. Si Hong also turned his head, and their eyes met. He smiled slightly.
“What do you think?”
Su Yiren suppressed her bad mood and shook her head.
“I don’t want to fix it.”
A man who had no feelings for her, what reason did she have to hold on?
Moreover, he wanted her to disappear from his life as soon as possible.
She knew this clearly, and she also knew that even if she loved him and couldn’t let go, this feeling would eventually fade away with time.
All she needed was time.
Thinking about this, Su Yiren locked her screen and stopped replying to the messages.
At this moment, the green light turned on. She turned to Si Hong and smiled.
“Let’s go.”
Meanwhile, Lu Yunting and Shen Tongyu entered the villa. A young woman immediately came out to greet them.
“You’re back early. I haven’t finished cooking yet!”
“Yeah, the highway wasn’t congested.” Lu Yunting said casually.
“This kid started whining about being hungry as soon as we got in the car. She insisted on going out for hot pot. So I just brought her back. We have so much food prepared at home, why eat hot pot?”
Shen Tongyu immediately complained,
“Mom~ I’ve been abroad for two months, I’m dying for hot pot! I told you we should go out to eat!”
Lu Yunzhi rubbed Shen Tongyu’s head.
“Your uncle is right. We have so much food at home, why go out to eat? I also prepared some hot pot at home, just make do with it.”
Shen Tongyu sighed in frustration. Seeing Lu Yunting go to the bathroom, her eyes lit up. She immediately ran into the kitchen with Lu Yunzhi and asked mysteriously,
“Mom, did Uncle and Sister-in-law have a fight?”
Lu Yunzhi didn’t live in the ancestral home and didn’t pay much attention to what was going on there. She didn’t think much of it and casually replied,
“What couple doesn’t fight? Your uncle has such a bad temper, which woman can stand him?”
Shen Tongyu felt that made sense.
“That’s right. Sister-in-law has the best temper. It must be Uncle who pissed her off, and she got angry and ran away from home.”
“What ran away from home?” Lu Yunzhi stopped what she was doing and looked at her in surprise.
Shen Tongyu pointed at the villa not far away from the window.
“Look, Sister-in-law came out of that villa. Oh, right, she was with a really handsome man.”
Lu Yunzhi looked out the window towards the villa and frowned.
“We just moved here not long ago, so we don’t know who lives there. But your sister-in-law’s home is in Rongcheng, so maybe it’s a friend or relative’s house.”
Shen Tongyu touched her chin, recalling how Uncle and Sister-in-law had no interaction throughout the whole thing, she still felt something was off.
And the man next to Sister-in-law was as gentle as jade, his every move was refined. He looked like a really good person! At least much better than Uncle!
Shen Tongyu suddenly felt a sense of crisis.
A light flashed in her mind, and she seemed to have discovered a new world. She covered her mouth in surprise.
“Mom, do you think Sister-in-law is cheating?!”
