Chapter 1: Physical Examination
Xiao Miaomiao walked out of the department’s door with a beaming smile, clutching the freshly printed physical examination report in her hand.
The doctor’s words echoed in her ears. Her body, after a year of careful recuperation, had fully recovered and was now healthy enough to prepare for the arrival of a new life.
Just then, a familiar figure appeared in Xiao Miaomiao’s line of sight. It was her husband, Hong Wenbin, walking in from the lobby with a broad smile on his face.
A warm feeling surged through her heart, and she couldn’t wait to share the good news with him.
However, in the next second, the physical examination report in Xiao Miaomiao’s hand seemed to be pulled by an invisible force, suddenly slipping from her grasp and falling lightly to the ground.
Her eyes widened, as if she had seen something incredible.
The husband who was supposed to be on a business trip out of town was now escorting a pregnant woman into the entrance of the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Their gestures were intimate, like a loving couple.
Xiao Miaomiao felt as if an invisible hand was squeezing her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.
She couldn’t believe her eyes. How could this be? Why was her husband here, accompanying a pregnant woman? What was going on? Her mind was in chaos, unable to think clearly.
She stood there dumbfounded, watching Hong Wenbin and the pregnant woman walk away, their backs gradually disappearing from sight, her heart filled with doubt and unease.
Xiao Miaomiao bit her lower lip, trying to suppress the tears that were about to spill from her eyes, and cautiously followed her husband.
The hospital door was not fully closed, and after a while, faint voices could be heard from behind the door.
“The baby is seven months old now. Based on the examination results, the development is very normal. You just need to come to the hospital for regular checkups.” The doctor’s voice was calm and professional, his gaze shifting between the two.
Liu Yueyue gently stroked her protruding belly, her eyes filled with maternal love. She held Hong Wenbin’s hand and looked together at the ultrasound image projected on the computer screen.
“Wenbin, look how healthy our baby is!” Liu Yueyue’s voice was filled with joy and anticipation. “Look at his little hand, it seems to be moving, so cute.”
Hong Wenbin’s gaze fell upon the blurry but vibrant little life on the screen, his heart filled with joy. He nodded happily, a smile spreading across his face.
“Yeah, I see. Our baby is so full of life. You’ve worked hard, Yueyue.” Hong Wenbin’s eyes softened, and he held Liu Yueyue tightly in his arms.
“Wenbin, I don’t feel tired. As long as our baby is healthy, I’m content.” Liu Yueyue’s eyes flashed with a hint of guilt, but it quickly disappeared, unseen by Hong Wenbin.
Xiao Miaomiao stood there, unable to believe her ears. Her husband, without her knowledge, had been keeping a mistress and now even had a child with her.
She felt dizzy, her heart filled with pain and disappointment. The subsequent conversation seemed to be happening in a haze, and she could no longer hear what they were saying.
Seeing them get up and prepare to leave, Xiao Miaomiao quickly ducked into the nearby staircase, afraid of being discovered by the two.
It was they who should be afraid, why was she hiding? She didn’t know why anymore, she just didn’t want to see them anymore.
She crouched down, tears silently streaming down her face, her heart filled with endless disappointment and pain. She never imagined that Hong Wenbin would deceive her like this, putting her in such a situation.
Xiao Miaomiao didn’t know how long she had been crying until the pain in her heart gradually subsided, and she slowly stood up. She wiped away the tears on her face, opened her phone, and dialed a number.
“Help me investigate Hong Wenbin. He’s cheating, I want evidence to divorce him.” Xiao Miaomiao’s voice was slightly choked, but her tone was unusually firm.
After hanging up the phone, Xiao Miaomiao threw the physical examination report into the trash can with a fierce gesture. She didn’t want to see this report anymore, nor did she want to recall those heart-wrenching memories.
Hong Wenbin had deceived her. She would find evidence and make him pay for it.
Thinking back to a year ago, Xiao Miaomiao’s body, while not as strong as it was now, had no major obstacles to conceiving a child. As long as she took extra care during pregnancy, it would be fine.
However, Hong Wenbin’s concern for her exceeded her expectations. He always said that he would wait until her body fully recovered before they welcomed a new life together. Therefore, even after a year, they still maintained the habit of sleeping in separate rooms, never crossing the line.
When Xiao Miaomiao took the initiative to propose sharing a bed, Hong Wenbin declined, saying that he was worried that he wouldn’t be able to control himself and might hurt her.
At that time, she naively believed that he was truly thinking of her.
Now, looking back, it was all a joke. Since his intentions were all fake, there was no need for her to cling to this relationship anymore. It just made her feel a little lost.
She had always been shy and not good at competing with others, but this didn’t mean she was willing to be bullied and silently endure it.
Xiao Miaomiao gently wiped away the tears from the corner of her eyes and sent Hong Wenbin a message, telling him that she was going out for a walk to clear her head and would be back in a few days.
Hong Wenbin had just left Liu Yueyue’s house that evening when he saw the message Xiao Miaomiao had sent. A hint of a smile flashed in his eyes, and he immediately dialed her number, but it went straight to voicemail. Without thinking much, he sent a message back.
“Sorry, wife, I’ve been busy with work and haven’t had time to check my phone. Go have fun, stay out as long as you want. I’ve neglected you, it’s my fault.”
Hong Wenbin quickly sent a message to his wife and then rushed back to Liu Yueyue’s residence. He pushed the door open without hesitation, as if this was his true home.
Xiao Miaomiao looked at the flashing message on her phone, a mocking smile playing on her lips. She didn’t respond, just quietly waiting for the next move.
In less than three days, the results of the investigation she had commissioned were presented to her. To her surprise, Hong Wenbin’s mistress was actually Liu Yueyue, his girlfriend from university.
Back then, because Liu Yueyue came from a humble family, Hong Wenbin’s mother was very dissatisfied with her and eventually paid her off with a sum of money.
But who would have thought that a month before Hong Wenbin married Xiao Miaomiao, Liu Yueyue would find him again.
From then on, Hong Wenbin secretly kept Liu Yueyue on the side, and their relationship was secretly maintained.
Now, Xiao Miaomiao had uncovered everything, and her heart was filled with anger and disappointment.
