“The grandfather who has always doted on me suddenly falls victim to poisoning. As his granddaughter, shouldn’t I personally seek out the antidote for him?”
Su Weichu’s gaze was ice-cold as she fixed her eyes on the reporter.
Their eyes met, and the reporter hesitated, suddenly feeling uneasy. However, he steeled himself and continued his questioning, “Then, Miss Su, did you find the antidote?”
“Of course.”
As Su Weichu spoke, she felt her phone vibrate in her hand. Glancing down, she saw a message from Yi Qingyun, notifying her that the board members had arrived and a meeting was about to commence.
Minutes later, after dismissing the reporters, she stepped out of the lounge and immediately turned to Yi Qingyun. “Why is the board here?”
“I received word that Vice President Su called the meeting.”
Yi Qingyun relayed the information she had gathered.
Su Weichu let out a cold chuckle. “My dear uncle just never lets up, does he? Fine, let’s go see what he’s up to this time.”
With that, she strode confidently toward the meeting room, Yi Qingyun following closely behind.
As soon as she pushed open the doors, she was met with the sight of Su Hetong and the entire board, all seated and waiting.
“My apologies for keeping everyone waiting.”
Though the words were polite, her tone carried not the slightest hint of remorse. Without hesitation, she walked straight to the chairman’s seat and sat down.
Gasps of surprise rippled through the room.
“Miss Su, that seat belongs to the chairman,” someone pointed out hesitantly.
Su Weichu smiled, her gaze sweeping across the room. “I know. That’s exactly why I’m sitting here.”
She leaned back, lazily spinning the chair in a slow circle, a smug smile playing on her lips—especially when she caught sight of Su Hetong’s face, dark with barely contained fury.
With a loud bang, Su Hetong slammed his palm onto the table and shot to his feet. “Su Weichu, you are out of line! Who gave you the right to sit there? Do you think that just because the old chairman is in critical condition, you can do whatever you please in this company?”
Clap. Clap. Clap.
Su Weichu lazily clapped her hands together, her expression mocking. “My dear uncle, you truly have a way with words. Twisting the truth so effortlessly. Are you really questioning whether I have the right to sit here? Shouldn’t you be the one who knows best?”
She leaned forward, her gaze turning sharp. “And as for the chairman’s sudden illness… do you really want me to discuss the details of that in front of everyone here?”
A heavy silence filled the room as the two locked eyes, tension crackling between them.
For a split second, Su Hetong’s composure wavered, his expression flickering with unease.
Does this wretched girl know something?
No, impossible. He had covered his tracks well. There was no way she could have found out.
Regaining his composure, he sneered, “You’re grasping at straws, throwing baseless accusations just to divert attention from your own misdeeds.”
“And what exactly am I guilty of? ‘Angering’ my grandfather into falling ill?”
Su Weichu’s retort was swift, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Su Hetong scoffed, folding his arms. “Naturally—your hunger for power led you to drive my father into the hospital.”
“Hahaha…”
Su Weichu suddenly burst into laughter.
As her laughter subsided, she fixed Su Hetong with a piercing gaze. “Do you really believe that after everything that happened that day, there is no evidence left behind?”
Su Hetong stiffened, a flicker of panic crossing his face.
No… She’s bluffing.
Before he could speak, Su Weichu snapped her fingers. Yi Qingyun stepped forward, carrying a laptop.
“My dear uncle,” Su Weichu pronounced smoothly, “since you’re so eager to have everyone hear the truth, I’ll grant you your wish. Qingyun, please play the recording for our dear board members.”
“Understood.”
Yi Qingyun nodded and activated the projector.
The next moment, the audio recording filled the conference room. The voices were unmistakable—Su Hetong’s threats in the hospital, his coercion of Su Weichu, and the heartless words directed at the ailing old chairman.
Gasps of shock spread among the board members.
Su Hetong, meanwhile, stood frozen in place, his face draining of color.
Impossible… How could there be a recording?!
“This is slander! A fabrication!”
His voice was frantic as he lunged forward, switching off the projector. His eyes were red with fury as he glared at Su Weichu. “You think splicing my voice into a fake recording will fool everyone?!”
No matter what, he could never admit to it.
Instead, he decided to strike first.
“Su Weichu, I was willing to remain silent out of consideration for your difficult childhood without parents, but I cannot let you continue to slander me for the sake of power!”
Turning to the board members, he declared, “Everything in that recording is fake! The truth is, she was the one who drove my father to the brink of collapse because she feared I would threaten her position as president! I arrived just in time to rush my father to the hospital, but she followed me there to finish what she started!”
His words were filled with righteous indignation, his expression sorrowful.
The board members exchanged uncertain glances.
They weren’t fools—something about this entire situation felt off.
Just as the atmosphere reached a deadlock, the doors to the conference room burst open.
With imposing authority, Old Chairman Su strode in, his presence commanding attention.
“Then tell me,” he said, his voice steady but sharp, “will you believe the words of this old man?”
“F-Father…”
Su Hetong turned pale as a sheet.
The old chairman’s gaze was cold as he walked up to his son and, without hesitation, delivered a resounding slap across his face.
“You wretched son!” he bellowed. “You call yourself a filial child? For the sake of power, you tried to have me killed, then attempted to frame your own niece! Have you no shame?!”
Su Hetong stumbled backward, face burning from both the slap and humiliation.
Everything he had planned—ruined in an instant.
“Guards! Remove Su Hetong from this board immediately!”
The chairman’s decisive voice echoed through the room, leaving no room for argument.
Within moments, Su Hetong was dragged out of the conference room, his struggles useless.
Su Weichu stepped forward, concern evident in her gaze. “Grandfather, why did you come? How’s your health?”
The old chairman patted her hand reassuringly. “With all that’s happened, how could I not come? Don’t worry, that brat from the Lin family has been delivering medicine to me daily. I’m fine.”
Then, turning his gaze to the rest of the board, he declared, “Since we’re all gathered, I have an announcement to make.”
The board members held their breath.
Leading Su Weichu to the chairman’s seat, he stated firmly, “From today onward, Su Weichu will officially take over all responsibilities of the company as the new chairman. I expect each of you to support her as you did during my tenure.”
One by one, the board members nodded.
“Of course, Chairman Su.”
“You can count on us to support the new leadership.”
And just like that, Su Mochu had won.
