By the time Ji He finished her shopping trip and bought everything she needed, she only had 200 yuan left in her pocket.
Under the scorching midday sun, she got on her tricycle and headed home. Just as she was nearing her house, she received a call from the delivery station informing her that her packages had arrived and that she needed to pick them up.
Ji He agreed and made a turn, speeding toward the delivery station.
Over the past few days, several packages had arrived, but she hadn’t found the time to pick them up. Today, she figured she might as well get them all in one trip.
It took her several trips back and forth to bring all the packages home.
Other than the snacks she had just ordered the day before, there were no more outstanding deliveries.
As soon as she stepped inside, Ji He shut the door and immediately turned on the air conditioner.
She couldn’t take it anymore—it was just too hot!
The temperature outside had to be over 40°C. The weather reports were definitely underreporting it just to avoid causing panic!
Ji He gulped down half a bottle of water in one go before finally feeling alive again.
She sat down on a stool, enjoying the cool air from the AC, and rested for a while before getting up to turn on the faucet and refill her stock of bottled water.
She had no plans to go outside for the rest of the afternoon—she would stay home and get some work done.
But first, she needed to eat. Last time, she had cooked a big pot of porridge, and there was still some left.
That would save her some effort this time.
She scooped a bowl, paired it with a plate of pickled vegetables, and called it a meal.
It was too hot, and she had no appetite—she could barely eat anything.
After finishing her meal, she slipped into her space and began relocating her livestock.
She first divided the lawn into eight sections of varying sizes using fences.
There weren’t too many poultry in her space right now, and they were all young, so they weren’t very big. Even after splitting the lawn into eight sections, they still had much more room to move around than they did in the black soil area.
Once Ji He finished setting up the fences, she herded the animals into their new spaces.
They were obedient—wherever she told them to go, they went without resistance. The relocation was completed in no time.
After that, she started feeding them.
Only after making sure all the animals had been fed did Ji He step out of the space.
Time in the space was limited—she wouldn’t waste even a single minute.
Who knew when that one minute might make a crucial difference?
Maybe it was because of her past experiences growing up, but she always subconsciously prepared for the worst-case scenario.
Now that the livestock had moved out, a large portion of the black soil was empty again. Leaving it barren was not an option.
Ji He looked at the open space, thinking about what to plant. She wasn’t planning to sell the grain she grew in the black soil—it simply wasn’t worth the cost and effort.
After some thought, she decided to plant corn.
Corn was easy to grow and had a high yield.
She just needed to soak the seeds overnight, then dig holes and plant them the next day.
The black soil was surprisingly fertile. Despite not being watered or cared for recently, the seedlings growing there weren’t weak at all—in fact, they had grown significantly taller.
With her plan in place, Ji He took out the corn seeds and soaked them in warm water, preparing to plant them the next day.
After finishing her tasks in the space, she turned on her computer to continue downloading information while she set up a stool in the living room, turned on the TV, and got to work.
There was a mountain of animal innards in her space—she needed to clean them all while she had the time.
Ji He worked while watching TV, and before she knew it, it was time for the evening news.
Feeling a bit tired, she stood up, stretched, and walked around the living room while gnawing on a goose head.
Nothing tasted better than this goose head right now! She couldn’t describe the exact flavor, but tearing into it gave her a sense of satisfaction—almost like the thrill of biting into an enemy.
As she ate, she heard the latest news being broadcasted.
The report mentioned that due to the extreme heat, many areas were experiencing prolonged droughts, leading to significant grain production losses and devastating farmers financially.
Ji He frowned and sat down to watch more closely.
Unfortunately, the segment lasted less than a minute before switching to another topic.
The rest of the news was all about peaceful and harmonious times.
She waited for a while but didn’t hear any more relevant updates, so she pulled out her phone to search for information.
What she found was shocking.
It wasn’t just her city experiencing extreme heat—many other cities were facing abnormally high temperatures as well.
Meanwhile, plenty of people were still posting vacation photos from beach resorts.
Ji He felt a sinking feeling in her heart—something wasn’t right.
Was the apocalypse really coming?
An extreme heat apocalypse?
At that moment, she suddenly remembered—when she logged out of the game yesterday, the system had mentioned that a chat interface had been unlocked. It had even prompted her to change her username.
She had been so busy that she had completely forgotten about it.
Quickly, Ji He called up the chat interface in her mind. Soon, a glowing screen appeared before her.
There was only one “Regional Channel” available, and the exact number of users wasn’t displayed.
A system prompt appeared:
Dear official game player, you have one remaining name change opportunity. Would you like to use it?
Without hesitation, Ji He clicked “Yes.”
She renamed herself “Borrowing 50 Billion More from Heaven.”
That’s right—her dreams were simple and straightforward.
The system quickly confirmed the change, and her username was updated accordingly.
She first browsed through the regional channel. The system indicated that users could only post five messages per day, and she still had all five remaining.
Instead of rushing to speak, she observed the conversation first.
【Never Forget: Guys, what did you all buy with the game’s copper coins?】
【Whirlwind Gold Bean: I saved them! There’s not enough money to buy anything decent anyway!】
【Forget Worries: I experimented with it—when you spend copper coins, the items appear out of thin air! But the prices are ridiculously high, so the coins have very little purchasing power.】
【Prosperity Blooms: Hey hubby, are you in the game?】
【Never Forget: Auntie, you’re amazing! At your age, you can still complete the game? That’s incredible! I’m so jealous—can you teach me?】
【Prosperity Blooms: Which eye of yours sees me as old?! I’m younger than you! Quit pretending to be young!】
【Never Forget: Auntie, don’t be mad! If I said anything wrong, I apologize!】
Immediately, a group of bootlickers jumped in to smooth things over.
Ji He sighed. Seriously? With only five messages per day, people were wasting them on nonsense?
【Forget Worries: Based on the information I’ve gathered, there seem to be at least five different game scenarios: Farm Mode, Fishery Mode, School Mode, Forest Mode, and Grassland Mode! If anyone has data on other scenarios, please message me—I’ll compile everything and share it to help everyone clear the game.】
【Watching Snow in the Wind: Honestly, I don’t understand the point of this game. Not only is it incredibly difficult, but the rewards are also pathetic—just a few measly copper coins that can barely buy anything! If I get asked to join again, I’m refusing. You couldn’t pay me to play again!】
