Chapter 22: First Meeting
At around 3 AM, Qin Zhuoran finally landed and returned home.
Having been awake for nearly 24 hours, he quickly took a shower and went to bed, completely unaware that there was someone already in the bed.
After lying in bed for a while, Qin Zhuoran felt a bit hot and turned down the air conditioning. Once he felt comfortable, he fell asleep again.
Meanwhile, Meng Yitong, who was deep in sleep, soon began shivering from the cold. Even after tightly wrapping herself in the blanket, it didn’t help.
She thought about getting up to adjust the temperature, but her eyelids were so heavy that she could hardly open her eyes.
In a half-awake, half-asleep state, Meng Yitong felt a warm source next to her and instinctively moved closer.
Sure enough, it felt much warmer once she was closer.
Feeling the warmth, Meng Yitong quickly fell back into a deep sleep.
The next morning, Meng Yitong was startled awake by the loud alarm.
Annoyed, she closed her eyes and stretched her arm out to reach for the phone on the nightstand on her right.
When she couldn’t find it, she stretched a little further.
It was at that moment that she suddenly realized there was someone beneath her.
Startled, Meng Yitong quickly sat up. When she fully woke up, she realized the phone she had been reaching for wasn’t hers.
She nervously looked at the man lying next to her, who was also waking up and reaching for his phone.
She noticed the man’s open bathrobe, and suddenly, she felt a chill on her chest.
Looking down, she realized her own bathrobe had somehow opened as well.
Quickly, she gathered her clothes, silently praying that he hadn’t seen.
After Qin Zhuoran turned off the alarm, he continued looking at his phone without saying a word or even glancing at her.
From his calm demeanor, Meng Yitong could tell that this man was definitely the Qin Zhuoran who was supposed to return today.
Having never been in a relationship and never shared a room with a man, Meng Yitong was so embarrassed that she didn’t know what to say.
The room was dimly lit, and Meng Yitong couldn’t clearly make out his features, but she could tell from the light of his phone that his facial features were very handsome.
He looked noble and elegant, and there was no sign of any disfigurement, which made Meng Yitong wonder why people had spread such rumors about him.
She shifted to the left side of the bed and grabbed her own phone.
When she checked the time, it was already 10 AM. Her heart skipped a beat. Oh no! Sleeping until 10 on the first day of marriage, isn’t that a bit too much?
Quickly, she turned on the lights and got out of bed to freshen up.
Qin Zhuoran, who had been slightly disturbed by the light, raised his head and saw her rushing toward the bathroom, furrowing his brow.
Before he left for his business trip to the United States, he had heard that his father had arranged a marriage for him. The last time he came back, he heard that the bride had run away.
So why was she already in his home, married to him, when he came back this time?
Qin Zhuoran really didn’t expect his father to be so ruthless.
Originally, he had no intention of accepting this marriage, but after the scene he had witnessed when he woke up, he began to hesitate.
Actually, Qin Zhuoran had woken up as soon as the alarm went off. He had planned to grab his phone, but realized that his hands were completely immobile, tightly wrapped by someone who seemed like an octopus.
When he opened his eyes, he saw a sweet face, sound asleep in his arms.
The girl’s warm breath brushed against his chest, and her soft, cool skin was pressed against his right side, leaving him numb all over.
When she sat up earlier, he had caught a brief glimpse.
He had only glanced at his phone after that, giving the girl time to adjust her clothes.
But by the time he finished reading two emails, the girl had already run off, without even a chance for conversation.
Qin Zhuoran found the situation troublesome. Originally, he was determined to reject the marriage, but now, after accidentally spending the night together, it would be difficult to back out.
Before he could think further, the girl had already come out of the bathroom, wiping her face with a towel, her round eyes meeting his as she asked, “Aren’t you getting up?”
“Mm.” Qin Zhuoran responded and then got out of bed, heading toward the bathroom.
Meng Yitong estimated Qin Zhuoran’s height to be around 185 cm, not much shorter than her father Meng Yuanliang.
She took another look at his face, confirming that only the lower left side of his chin and neck had a slightly darker hue, with no obvious scars or protrusions.
Meng Yitong couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Although she had mentally prepared herself for him to have a disfigured face, who wouldn’t like a good-looking husband?
Once Qin Zhuoran entered the bathroom, Meng Yitong quickly sat down at the vanity, did her basic skincare routine, and applied a light makeup.
By the time she finished setting her makeup, Qin Zhuoran had already finished washing up and changed into his clothes.
