Chapter 29: Pity
Zhou Yi suddenly felt a bit of agreement with what Ouyang said.
He looked at Li Jingcheng, who was lying in bed, with some embarrassment. “Jingcheng, you’ve been lying here for half a year. It’s okay to lie down a little longer. Your father is taking care of the Li family now, and we’ll be watching over you. You can wake up after your wife gets pregnant. Otherwise, you’ll lose the wife you just married. It’s a pity.”
Zhang Jie was speechless when he heard Zhou Yi’s words. He looked at Li Jingcheng and suddenly felt a little pity.
“Let’s just pray that your wife gives birth to a child soon, otherwise, we wouldn’t want Li Jingcheng to wake up so soon.”
Maybe it was because of Zhou Yi’s lighthearted jokes, but the originally heavy atmosphere became a little lighter.
“We’ll come to see you often,” Zhang Jie said, looking at Li Jingcheng.
Ouyang looked at his brother’s message and frowned. “Brother Zhou, did you prepare a gift?”
Zhou Yi looked at him in confusion. “What gift? A get-well gift? No, Jingcheng has everything he needs. What should I bring?”
“No, it’s a wedding gift for your sister-in-law,” Ouyang said to them. They had heard about Jingcheng’s marriage certificate and were worried, but they hadn’t thought about whether they should send a gift after acknowledging his wife.
Zhou Yi and Zhang Jie looked at each other. They hadn’t thought about that either.
“We’ll make it up later?” Zhou Yi asked them.
“Yeah, we can only make it up later. The only thing we can afford right now is money, but it’s too vulgar to just give money,” Zhang Jie said helplessly.
“We’ll make it up later,” Ouyang said awkwardly. If his brother hadn’t mentioned it, they wouldn’t have thought of it.
Before leaving, Ouyang went to look at the painting that Xiao Miaomiao had placed in the courtyard, only outlining the shape of a mountain.
Ouyang wanted a painting of stars, and he wondered if he could make a small request and ask Li Grandpa privately.
If possible, he would like the same one that Li Grandpa has. It’s so hypnotic, and he thinks he might be able to stop taking sleeping pills and fall asleep naturally.
Xiao Miaomiao didn’t expect her painting to have such a magical effect, that it could actually induce sleep.
The Li family was full of joy and laughter, while the Jiang family was as cold as an ice cave.
Jiang Grandpa and Jiang Feng looked at their eldest grandson, who they always trusted, and the coldness around him made people feel like it was winter.
Jiang Chen knew this would happen. He looked at his parents, who had already stepped back, leaving him to bear his grandfather’s wrath.
“Tell me again, Miaomiao is married again, and she married Li Jingcheng, the vegetable from the Li family,” Jiang Feng said, trying to suppress his anger.
“Yes, Grandpa, they got their divorce certificate in the morning, and then got their marriage certificate with Li Jingcheng in the afternoon,” Jiang Chen said. He hadn’t expected his cousin to be so impulsive. If he had known, he would have sent her back to the old house and then gone to the company to deal with things.
Jiang Feng threw the cane in his hand. “I told you to take good care of Miaomiao, this is how you take care of her?”
“You couldn’t have sent her back to me after she got divorced? Then she wouldn’t have gone to the Xiao family and wouldn’t have bumped into that shameless old man from the Li family. What’s wrong with his grandson? He dares to marry Miaomiao. Even if Li Jingcheng was fine before, I wouldn’t approve of him. Now he’s a vegetable, and he actually made Miaomiao marry him. How dare he?” Jiang Feng said angrily.
“Divorce, you must get a divorce. Even if it’s her third marriage, Miaomiao is so excellent, she won’t have trouble finding a good husband. I still have 3% of the shares, I’ll give them to Miaomiao, she won’t have trouble getting married.” Jiang Feng said to Jiang Chen.
“Go to the Li family now and bring Miaomiao back to me. I’ll personally vet her. Not everyone can marry my Miaomiao,” Jiang Feng said to the kneeling Jiang Chen.
Jiang Hai and his wife, who were sitting not far away, had the same thoughts as the old man. If Li Jingcheng had been fine before, he would have been a good choice, but now he’s a living corpse, it’s really not suitable. The Li family has a lot of money, it’s true, but the Jiang family is not short of money either. Miaomiao doesn’t need to compromise herself for money.
“It must be that old fox Li Grandpa who tricked Miaomiao. No, I’m not convinced. Jiang Chen, I’ll go with you to pick up Miaomiao.”
“Dad, I’ll go too. I’ll deal with Li Chen,” Jiang Hai said as he stood up.
Jiang Hai’s wife sighed when she heard this. It seemed she had to go too, not to help, but to support Jiang Hai. Jiang Hai had always been defeated by Li Chen in terms of fighting skills. As for letting her deal with Ouyang Xuan, forget it. That iron lady, she wouldn’t provoke her.
“Miaomiao did it willingly. She’s very happy. She actually likes Li Jingcheng’s genes and wants to have a smart and beautiful baby. She’ll inherit the Li Group later, she’ll win without even trying.”
“She said that the Li family treats her very well, she likes it there, and she already consummated the marriage with Li Jingcheng on the day they got their marriage certificate. It’s all to get pregnant soon.” Jiang Chen said through gritted teeth.
Jiang Feng and Jiang Hai’s wife were stunned. They didn’t know what to say. They didn’t know whether to say that Xiao Miaomiao was smart or stupid.
Lin Li said uncertainly, “Miaomiao wouldn’t have been so stimulated by Hong Wenbin’s affair that she deliberately married a vegetable to get married and have children.”
“If she has a child, and the Li family’s property will be theirs, it seems like Miaomiao has won,” Lin Li guessed.
Jiang Chen nodded. That’s exactly what happened.
Jiang Feng didn’t know what to say. So his granddaughter likes a vegetable and is rushing to marry him?
Jiang Chen secretly breathed a sigh of relief. His life was saved.
“Miaomiao said that the Li family wants to have dinner with us sometime, and they also mentioned the dowry. Grandpa, when do you think we should go?” Jiang Chen said as he stood up.
“Did I tell you to stand up?” Jiang Feng said to him.
Jiang Chen quickly knelt down again. Okay, he should kneel.
“Tell Miaomiao that we’ll go tomorrow. Don’t bother booking a hotel, just go to the Li family’s house. Don’t they have a chef? Ask them to make Buddha Jumps Over the Wall. Just go and see what Li Jingcheng is like. If it’s too shabby, don’t go. Don’t let Miaomiao have nightmares because of him.” Jiang Feng thought for a moment and said.
“Okay, I’ll tell Miaomiao right away,” Jiang Chen said, twitching his lips.
Xiao Miaomiao saw the message from her cousin and was a little worried. After all, the two families didn’t have a good relationship. She had only thought that her cousin and Li Jingcheng didn’t get along well, but she didn’t expect that her grandpa and Li Grandpa didn’t get along, and her uncle and Li Dad didn’t get along either. She just hoped that the two families wouldn’t fight tomorrow.
Xiao Miaomiao told everyone about her grandpa coming over tomorrow while they were having dinner. Li Grandpa and the others comforted Miaomiao, saying that everything would be fine.
Xiao Miaomiao could only hope so.
Xiao Miaomiao still went back to Li Jingcheng’s room as usual, telling him about everything that happened around her, including her grandpa coming over.
“I’m worried that they’ll fight. I won’t know who to help then. Maybe I should just hide?” Xiao Miaomiao said to Li Jingcheng, who was beside her.
Li Jingcheng was still unconscious and wouldn’t give her any response, but Xiao Miaomiao didn’t expect him to respond.
“We can only take things one step at a time.”
Zhang Jie placed the framed painting in the most prominent place in the room.
Looking at the painting, he thought of the redemption he had experienced.
Zhang Jie wouldn’t forget Li Jingcheng, who pulled him out of darkness. He had witnessed his parents being murdered, and he almost went crazy. If he hadn’t met Li Jingcheng, he might have really become a madman.
Fortunately, Li Jingcheng pulled him back and brought the murderer of his parents to justice.
He just hoped that Li Jingcheng could wake up soon.
Xiao Miaomiao was so worried about the meeting between the two families that she could only put her painting aside and stood guard at the gate of the courtyard.
She didn’t see her grandpa coming, but she did see her stepmother.
“Xiao Miaomiao, why are you at the Li family?” Xiao Yu’yan asked incredulously when she saw Xiao Miaomiao standing at the gate of the Li family.
The Xiao family and the Li family are only separated by one house. In fact, the house that separates them is also owned by the Li family, but they don’t want to be disturbed, so they bought it and left it empty.
Xiao Yu’yan and her mother had thought about befriending the Li family under the guise of being neighbors, but the Li family looked down on the Xiao family, and they didn’t want to be associated with them because of the desire in their eyes. They simply refused.
