Chapter 32: Keeping Her Busy
After dinner, Jiang Feng sent Xiao Miaomiao away, asking her to take Jiang Chen to visit Li Jingcheng.
Xiao Miaomiao could tell that her grandfather and the others had something to discuss and deliberately sent her away.
She looked at them worriedly, wondering if they would argue. She looked at Grandpa Li and her grandfather with concern.
Ouyang Xuan smiled, “Miaomiao, you go with your cousin to check on Jingcheng first. Everything will be fine.”
Lin Li nodded at her, reassuring her that they would watch over things.
Jiang Chen knew that the two families were probably going to discuss the dowry and the bride price. His grandfather wanted to see Li family’s sincerity.
Jiang Chen pulled Xiao Miaomiao upstairs, “Alright, don’t worry. They have their own way of doing things. If the Li family’s sincerity is enough, Grandpa and Mom and Dad will support it. Of course, if the sincerity is not enough, we can see the Li family’s attitude towards you and stop it in time, which is also a good thing.”
“The Li family are very nice, really.” Xiao Miaomiao looked up at her cousin and said.
“Well, that’s your feeling. I don’t deny it, but we have our own considerations.” Jiang Chen looked at Xiao Miaomiao and said.
“We don’t really approve of it. If Li Jingcheng hadn’t had the accident, he wouldn’t have been on our list of potential partners for you. He’s too cold and aloof, you could say he’s heartless and emotionless. He only has some humanity left for those few brothers he grew up with.” Jiang Chen thought of his methods in the business world, decisive and ruthless.
Jiang Chen and Li Jingcheng were similar, so he knew that such a person was very good, but only in the business world. As a husband, Li Jingcheng was undoubtedly not a good choice.
“But now I’m married to him. Although he was passive, I just wanted a child and a place to live. This deal is a win for me, isn’t it?”
Xiao Miaomiao was open-minded and knew what she wanted.
Jiang Chen looked at her serious expression, hoping that she would get what she wanted this time.
“We’re here. This is it.” Xiao Miaomiao opened the door and let him in.
Jiang Chen followed Xiao Miaomiao into Li Jingcheng’s room and was surprised to see Li Jingcheng’s condition. He hadn’t expected Li Jingcheng to be in such good shape. But considering the Li family’s wealth, it was understandable that they had hired professionals to take care of him.
“If I didn’t know he was in a vegetative state, I would have thought he was just sleeping.” Jiang Chen looked at Xiao Miaomiao and said.
“The nurses here are very dedicated and take good care of him.” Xiao Miaomiao looked at Li Jingcheng and said.
“I told you I wasn’t at a loss. Do you believe me now?” Xiao Miaomiao laughed.
Jiang Chen glanced at the things on the bedside table, “You’re sleeping with him, there’s no other room prepared for you?”
Xiao Miaomiao hadn’t expected him to notice. She touched her nose and said sheepishly, “Big cousin, you know my personality, I’m a chatterbox. I’m not comfortable talking much in front of strangers, I’m afraid they’ll dislike me. But he’s different. I can talk as much as I want and he won’t be annoyed. If he’s annoyed, it means he has feelings for me. He’ll thank me in the end.”
“I’m too lazy to go back to my own room, so I just sleep with him.” Xiao Miaomiao said frankly.
“You really don’t care that he’s in a vegetative state.” Jiang Chen now truly believed that Xiao Miaomiao was serious.
“Speaking of which, Li Jingcheng is your savior.” Jiang Chen looked at her and smiled. He hadn’t expected that they would end up together by chance.
Xiao Miaomiao looked at Li Jingcheng in surprise, “When did that happen? I don’t remember at all.”
“You were only three years old then. You got lost at a banquet and climbed up a big tree, and then you couldn’t get down. You were about to fall when he caught you, and then you followed him.”
Jiang Chen thought it was quite funny. It was the first time he saw Li Jingcheng so helpless. “He took you to find us. You were chattering all the way. When he brought you back, he looked helpless, clearly exhausted by you.”
“He disliked me for talking too much?” Xiao Miaomiao said awkwardly.
“Well, he’s a quiet person. He didn’t leave you halfway and brought you to me, all because of your cuteness.” Chen thought of what Li Jingcheng had said back then and it was funny.
“He also scolded me for not taking good care of you, causing you to almost fall from the tree. He also said, ‘We’re a family after all, we’re both equally annoying.'” I don’t know if it’s because I’ve heard it so many times from the family, but the two of us were in the same class in elementary school, and we were always competing with each other, neither of us giving in. But I also had my wins.
He had younger brothers and sisters, but Li Jingcheng didn’t. But now his sister has become his wife.
“Should I talk to Li Jingcheng more so he wakes up sooner, or should I not talk to him so he doesn’t wake up so quickly?” Xiao Miaomiao said dejectedly.
“He likes quiet, and I’m a chatterbox. What if I really drive him crazy? What if he wakes up and dislikes me? Will I have to get a divorce again?” Xiao Miaomiao looked at Jiang Chen pitifully.
“It’s okay. If he dares to dislike you and divorce you, then you’ll get half of his property and take the child back to our Jiang family. You won’t lose.” Jiang Chen comforted her.
“That’s right. I’ll know in a month if I’m pregnant. I hope I am, then I’ll be worry-free.” Xiao Miaomiao said expectantly.
“Are you looking forward to the child, or are you looking forward to inheriting the Li family? Grandpa gave you three percent of his shares, so you have eight percent of the shares in Jiang’s Group. You really don’t have to worry about food and clothing. Even without the Li family, you can live well.”
Jiang Chen didn’t feel jealous about the shares his grandfather gave Xiao Miaomiao. Money was just a number to him.
After all, their Jiang family was only second to the Li family.
“I was initially attracted to the Li family’s cooking. The head chef at the Li family is a descendant of an imperial chef. The food he makes is really delicious.”
Jiang Chen couldn’t deny it. The cooking was indeed excellent. Even he was a little full.
“I also plan to find time to learn from the head chef. I just don’t know if he’ll take me as a student.” Xiao Miaomiao said worriedly.
“If I can learn some, I’ll go back and cook for you.” The first people she thought of were them.
“Okay, we’ll wait. As long as you make it, we’ll love it. Your cooking is already good, especially compared to your aunt who blew up the kitchen.” Jiang Chen thought of his mother’s cooking, which was terrifying.
“Watch out, I’ll tell my aunt.” Xiao Miaomiao laughed.
“I’m telling the truth, okay?” Jiang Chen patted her head. “Don’t be so disrespectful.”
“I was kneeling for more than an hour when I told Grandpa about you and Li Jingcheng getting married. The reason was that I, as your brother, didn’t take good care of you.” Jiang Chen complained.
