Chapter 53: Evaluation
Liu Kai is a difficult person to evaluate. You could say he’s a jerk, but he always pursues the people he likes with sincerity. Once they agree to be with him, he gets married, but then quickly divorces.
But you can’t say he’s not a jerk either, because he always starts a new relationship after a divorce, and he’s never cheated on anyone while married.
“You clearly said I was your favorite and that you wouldn’t abandon me. That’s why I agreed to marry you. But then I fell in love with you, and we’ve only been married for four months. You got what you wanted, and then you found someone new you liked. How could you do this to me?” Zhang Shuya cried, tears streaming down her face.
Her voice was filled with despair and anger, like a broken heart screaming.
“No wonder you didn’t want to have a baby so soon. You said you wanted to enjoy more time as a couple, but I see now that you didn’t want a child to be a stumbling block to your divorce.” Zhang Shuya continued to cry.
Zhang Shuya wasn’t wrong. Liu Kai did have this thought in the back of his mind.
At this moment, Liu Kai stood there with his hands in his pockets, looking cold and indifferent. His eyes showed a hint of impatience.
He looked down at Zhang Shuya, who was sitting on the ground, and the tenderness and affection he used to have were gone, replaced by ruthlessness and determination. The once proud and confident Zhang Shuya was now in a state of utter disgrace.
“I was just saying that. I said it to all my ex-wives, and I was serious. But how was I supposed to know you’d make me lose interest so quickly? We’re both adults, so it’s best to just go our separate ways, right?” Liu Kai looked at the woman in front of him with a hint of dissatisfaction and impatience in his voice.
He continued, “I’ve given you all the compensation you deserve. It won’t benefit you if you keep making a fuss.” He glanced at her, a hint of indifference flashing in his eyes.
Liu Kai then said, “Your father needs my financial support for his medical expenses, and your brother needs money for his studies abroad. Think about it.” His voice was low and firm, as if to tell her that this was an unchangeable fact.
Then, he said, “I’ll give you a lump sum of money for the divorce, enough to ensure you don’t have to worry. If you don’t get a divorce, I’ll stop giving both of us money, and I’ll only give you 10,000 yuan a month for living expenses. You can figure out how to earn money to pay for everything else.” He shrugged his shoulders, appearing indifferent.
Finally, he looked at her, waiting for her decision. “You choose.” There was a hint of threat in his voice.
“You’re forcing me to get a divorce. You know I quit my job for you. How am I supposed to pay for my father’s medical expenses and my brother’s tuition?” Zhang Shuya regretted her reckless decision to quit her job and focus all her attention on Liu Kai. Now she was in a vulnerable position.
She shouted emotionally, “You were so supportive when I said I was quitting. You said I wouldn’t have to worry about money. You’re terrible! You planned this all along, didn’t you?”
She stood up angrily, her eyes fixed on Liu Kai, filled with despair and sadness.
Xiao Miaomiao was shocked by this. Her gaze shifted to Liu Kai, her eyes filled with both fear and disgust.
She never imagined that this seemingly gentle and considerate man could be so manipulative and calculating.
And Zhang Shuya, because of her marriage, had put all her energy into the man, even giving up her job and cutting off her own financial resources. This was something she couldn’t understand. This behavior was not only irresponsible to herself.
“No matter if a woman is married or not, the most important thing is her financial strength. Once she has no source of income, unless she’s lucky enough to find a truly reliable man, she’ll end up like this, with no bargaining power or even the courage to stand up for herself.” Xiao Miaomiao looked at Ah Huang and said. She sighed inwardly, feeling sad about the situation.
“What a pitiful and tragic woman. How could she believe a man’s words? Three-legged toads are hard to find, but two-legged men are everywhere. Leave this one and find a better one to make him jealous!” Xiao Miaomiao became more and more excited, completely forgetting that she was secretly watching and didn’t lower her voice.
Zhang Shuya and Liu Kai heard Xiao Miaomiao’s words and both turned their heads.
However, because Ah Huang was lying on the ground, they didn’t see it, only Xiao Miaomiao standing there.
Liu Kai’s eyes fell on Xiao Miaomiao, and a flash of admiration crossed his face.
Her beauty was like a rose blooming in the morning mist, delicate and charming, bright and captivating. Her face was exquisitely painted, every detail just right, as if carefully crafted by heaven.
Her skin was as smooth and white as fresh snow, with a natural blush that made people think of the gentlest sunlight of spring. Her eyes were like deep, clear, bright lakes, as if they could see into people’s hearts.
Her lips were as red and tempting as cherries, and when they slightly curled upwards, they revealed an unintentional charm.
Her figure was tall and slender, with a graceful and curvy silhouette. Even in a simple dress, she exuded a noble and elegant aura. She was like a rare treasure in the world, making people’s eyes light up and linger for a long time.
Liu Kai thought he had seen many beautiful women, but compared to the woman in front of him, they were far inferior.
Even the pure and innocent actress he had been looking at recently couldn’t compare to Xiao Miaomiao, not even one-tenth.
Zhang Shuya saw Liu Kai’s gaze and felt a sense of self-pity.
Indeed, three-legged toads are hard to find, but finding a two-legged man is easy. Xiao Miaomiao felt the gaze on her and felt embarrassed, caught watching the drama unfold.
Xiao Miaomiao smiled awkwardly, “Go on, go on.” Then she turned to leave.
As she was about to leave, she stopped and looked back at Zhang Shuya, who was sitting there, and said, “Sister, let me tell you, you’re so beautiful, there’s no need to die for a man.”
“If he’s got his eyes on another woman, even if his body hasn’t cheated, his soul has already cheated. We don’t need this kind of man! Ask for more money, dress yourself up nicely, and find someone better than this ex-husband. Or use the money he gave you to find a more attentive puppy dog.”
Xiao Miaomiao looked into Zhang Shuya’s eyes and continued to persuade her, “Besides, you’re just a second-hand item after the divorce, but what about him? Who knows how many hands he’s been through after the divorce. You’re much more valuable than him.”
