The visa for going abroad would be ready next week. During this week, Shuxin didn’t stay idle. She found a reputable real estate company to entrust them with selling the properties she had decided to sell.
Shuxin’s requirement was that the process be quick, ideally selling all the properties within six months. She was willing to sell them below market value, but the condition was that they must be bought with full payment.
With so many well-located properties, the amount of money the real estate agents could earn was obvious. Naturally, they agreed enthusiastically, grinning from ear to ear and repeatedly assuring Shuxin that they wouldn’t disappoint her.
Since she was about to go abroad for more than a month, Shuxin didn’t want to waste time. She decided to start renovating the properties now.
Shuxin didn’t plan to hire a renovation team locally or even within the country. She had specific and unique renovation requirements that could easily leave a lasting impression on the local workers.
To avoid potential issues after the apocalypse when people who had worked on her house might come looking for trouble, Shuxin decided to hire a renovation team from abroad.
She contacted a well-known renovation team in Germany, who had worked with many top business leaders. This made Shuxin happy, as she believed that no matter how odd her requests might be, the team wouldn’t be taken aback by them.
Shuxin sent them photos of the two properties she wanted renovated and outlined her requirements.
She wanted all the windows replaced with bulletproof, explosion-proof one-way glass. The entire floor should be heated by fire, and the walls needed to be thickened and soundproofed.
The doors needed to be installed in three layers: the first two layers looked similar to regular doors, but with better quality and higher security. The third layer, however, was to be made from the same material as a bank vault door—highly secure.
The first two layers were just for appearances. It was the third door that Shuxin really cared about. She also had more than ten other detailed requirements, which she sent to the team.
The team said there was no problem with the request, but due to the materials needing to be shipped from Germany, the cost would be a bit higher.
Shuxin, ever the little rich girl, didn’t mind the extra cost. As long as the best materials were used, she assured the team that if she was satisfied with the renovations, there would be extra bonuses for them. The team readily agreed and promised to arrive the day before she left for her trip.
The two properties that needed renovating were located in newly developed areas, targeting the middle to upper-class population. The number of people who had moved in was small, and most of the buyers were still in the process of renovating their homes. Therefore, even though Shuxin had brought a foreign team, it didn’t attract much attention.
After all, people who could afford to buy property here were either rich or noble, and it wasn’t unusual for them to hire foreign renovation teams. Shuxin didn’t stand out in this case.
She had already visited the area before and noticed that many people were renovating their homes, with construction vehicles and teams constantly coming in and out of the neighborhood. This reassured her that it was the right time to proceed with her own renovations.
If she wanted to avoid drawing attention, blending in with the crowd was the smartest move.
After handing the keys over to the team leader, Shuxin set off on her international stockpiling journey the next day.
Her first stop was Country M. In this country that valued freedom, it was much easier to stockpile goods than back home, as long as you didn’t commit any serious crimes, no one would interfere with you.
Shuxin didn’t rush into collecting supplies blindly. Since her understanding of the market in Country M was limited, she knew it would be difficult to find reliable sources and could easily get scammed if she bought in bulk.
After several days of research, she began her stockpiling. She rented five large general warehouses and two large refrigerated warehouses, and then contacted the suppliers she had shortlisted. She explained her needs and arranged for delivery.
She ordered salt, sugar, high-gluten flour, medium-gluten flour, low-gluten flour, gluten-free flour, various whole grains, meats, eggs—all by the ton. To speed up the unloading process, she even hired an additional unloading team.
For daily necessities, she bought tens of thousands of boxes of sanitary napkins, diapers, towels, bath towels, wet wipes, toilet paper, hygiene kits, and various types of bedding.
For food, she ordered from various well-known fast food shops, including different flavors of pizzas, hamburgers, reindeer sausages, mixed soups, and various types of sandwiches. She also bought a lot of drinks, especially soda—Coca-Cola and Sprite, which she ordered double the amount of compared to other beverages.
Of course, Shuxin didn’t miss out on Country M’s local specialties: abalone fruit, California milk, cranberries, American ginseng, Napa Valley red wine, coffee beans, and so on. She stocked up on them in huge quantities and even bought some seeds to plant in her space’s second layer.
Although she wouldn’t be able to consume all of it, it didn’t stop her from stockpiling. In the apocalypse, these would become valuable currency. If she couldn’t eat it, she could always trade it for zombie crystals.
She also bought a lot of luxury skincare and cosmetics, which were very expensive in her home country but surprisingly cheap in Country M. The prices were around 30-50% off compared to the domestic market. As a beauty-conscious young woman, Shuxin wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by. She stocked up on thousands of sets, especially the ones she frequently used.
Transportation tools were also essential in the apocalypse. While attending a car show, Shuxin spotted an off-road vehicle and a motorhome, both made in Country D.
Country D was one of her destinations as well, so she immediately contacted the car manufacturer. Considering the harsh environment during the apocalypse—bad roads and zombie attacks—she ordered twenty Knight XVs and ten Nomadison Navigators F, requiring all 30 vehicles to have bulletproof glass. The cars would be ready for pickup in a month.
After paying a 30% deposit, the manufacturer finally believed she was serious and became much more eager to help.
The purchase cost nearly half a billion, but Shuxin didn’t mind at all. With her wealth now over 10 billion, it was nothing. As long as it provided even a bit more safety during the apocalypse, it was money well spent.
In Country M, where private gun ownership is the highest, buying firearms was as easy as purchasing cabbage back home. You could haggle, pick and choose, and there were even gun expos similar to car shows.
However, this was not the kind of weaponry Shuxin was interested in. She didn’t dare visit the black market on her own. Unlike the brave heroines in novels who could take on the black market alone, Shuxin knew she would end up dead if she tried such a thing.
She had a deep desire for firearms, but sadly, she was powerless to acquire them.
After spending nearly a week in Country M, Shuxin ordered many large water tanks, the kind with faucets for water dispensing. On the night before her departure, she went to a reservoir in the U.S. to fill the tanks. She also bought a batch of smaller insulated water tanks, which she planned to use for storing hot water. These would be useful during the extreme cold of the apocalypse.
She also purchased solar panels, generators, portable power banks, assault boats, inflatable boats, ice skates, various survival gear, medical supplies, and all sorts of high-quality clothing, including outdoor jackets, sportswear, and down jackets, in every possible size.
She bought even more coal, gas canisters, natural gas, and coal, essential consumable energy sources.
