Transmigrating into an Apocalypse Novel: Hoarding Ten Billion Supplies and Clinging to the Villain’s Thigh
Transmigrating into an Apocalypse Novel: Hoarding Ten Billion Supplies and Clinging to the Villain’s Thigh Chapter 20: Preparation

The first time Yan Mo met Shu Xin, he immediately noticed something different about her. There was an aura around her, a sense of being detached from the world, which sparked his interest in getting to know this girl better.

As he spent more time with her, this feeling didn’t fade but instead grew stronger. Although she was physically present in front of him, Yan Mo often felt as if Shu Xin could vanish at any moment. He didn’t know where this feeling came from, but he was certain it wasn’t wrong.

The deeper his feelings for Shu Xin grew, the greater his inner fear became—fear of losing her.

When he didn’t find her on the bed in their room, Yan Mo felt a brief panic. He then heard a sound from the bathroom and calmed down.

“Xin Bao, are you in there?”

The sound of water from the bathroom gradually stopped, and Shu Xin responded from inside, “I’m here. I’m washing my hair. Did you just get back?”

“Mm, you go ahead and wash. I’ll tidy up and join you later.”

After hearing Shu Xin’s response, Yan Mo felt relieved. He relaxed, feeling the dampness of his clothes sticking to his skin, a discomforting sticky sensation. As someone with obsessive-compulsive tendencies, he frowned and grimaced at the feeling.

He couldn’t stand this state for another second. Yan Mo quickly walked back to his room and dashed into the bathroom.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the community, Ye Yu’an also went out that day, but she chose to leave in the early morning when everyone else was still asleep.

Ye Yu’an lived alone and, like Yan Mo, opted for the inflatable boat. If she went out with the others during the day, it would attract attention from people with ill intentions. Leaving in the early morning allowed her to avoid prying eyes and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Having lived through the apocalypse once already, Ye Yu’an had a rough understanding of the situation outside. Some things were different from her previous life, but she didn’t think much of it. As long as the overall direction of events didn’t change, there was nothing to worry about.

Her goal for going out in the early morning was to gather supplies before they went bad, as many things had been stored in various places during the recent power outage. She had moved some of these things to her room in preparation, freeing up space in her bracelet to store more.

Her time was limited, and there were still some items she couldn’t gather or that she had missed in the rush. She also noticed some government control over the purchase of food, restricting large-scale buying. To avoid attracting attention, she had to make several trips to different places, which delayed her progress.

Now, she was hoping to replenish her stock, and her next trip might coincide with the government’s distribution of relief supplies.

Ye Yu’an didn’t raid the malls, restaurants, or supermarkets near her residential area. Instead, she chose a commercial food city about five kilometers away.

She had two reasons for choosing this location: First, the area was at a higher elevation and was a newly developed zone with newer facilities. Given that the heavy rains had lasted for half a month, the place should still be standing, and the losses would likely be minimal. She didn’t want to waste time and energy running to a location that had already been looted.

Second, she wanted to pick a location far from the community so that others from the neighborhood could also have a chance to collect supplies. As long as people could find goods, the neighborhood wouldn’t descend into total chaos. The longer things stayed stable in the neighborhood, the longer she could enjoy a peaceful life.

Who didn’t want a peaceful life? Fighting and killing were exhausting. As someone who had lived through the apocalypse once, Ye Yu’an cherished any opportunity to live quietly.

Her guess was correct. The food city only had water on the first floor, up to her calves. The power system was shared with her neighborhood, and the outage had just happened. She opened a hotpot restaurant’s freezer and found it still filled with various hotpot ingredients, exuding cold air. She also found plenty of hotpot bases in the kitchen.

With a wave of her hand, Ye Yu’an stored everything in her space and moved from one shop to the next within the food city, collecting any items she deemed useful.

By the time she finished raiding the entire food city, her space was filled with supplies. She returned to the neighborhood before dawn, satisfied with her haul, just as everyone was still asleep.

Once back home, Ye Yu’an enjoyed a relaxing hot bath. After the power outage, it was only a matter of time before the water would be cut off as well. She didn’t have a large enough space to store hot water, so every bath was precious.

However, she was grateful that she could store other essential supplies in her space. In the apocalypse, even getting enough food was a challenge, and no one cared about hygiene or appearance.

When the water was cut off, no one would waste precious water resources on bathing. Even washing hair would become a luxury. This issue was only alleviated once water-powered ability users appeared.

Having been given a second chance at life, Ye Yu’an knew what would happen in the future. With her space, she could prepare ahead of time, and she was already satisfied with what she had achieved.

As for those who had caused her death in her past life, Ye Yu’an truly hoped that Du Hanxu and Wang Yayun would live well. She wanted to watch them struggle without her, now that she was no longer there to be their mule, constantly finding supplies and protecting them. She wanted to see how they would cope without her help.

She would stay here on the 25th floor and watch them.

After buying the apartment here, Ye Yu’an deliberately guided Du Hanxu and Wang Yayun to rent a place in the same community. She bribed the agent who introduced the properties to make sure they ended up in the same building as her.

By keeping them under her watch, she could enjoy the drama unfolding in front of her and add some fun to her otherwise mundane life in the apocalypse.

The heavy rain made it impossible to avoid getting wet, even when wearing a raincoat. Shu Xin had even made a pot of ginger soup for them to drink to help ward off the cold and prevent them from catching a cold.

Shu Xin thought it would be nice to have hotpot today since they had been out in the rain and the temperature was low. Together with Mu Qimai, she prepared the hotpot ingredients.

By the time Yan Mo and Bu Xiangwen finished their showers and changed, the table was set with all the hotpot ingredients, and the pot was already bubbling. The entire dining room was filled with a warm, homely atmosphere.

After the long day of running around, Yan Mo and Bu Xiangwen were quite hungry. They ate a lot to ease the hunger in their stomachs, and only then did they begin talking about the information they had gathered during their trip.

“The situation outside is much worse than I expected. The government hasn’t acted yet, and this has caused a lot of panic among the general public. The constant rain has also affected people’s moods. We need to prepare in advance.”

“This afternoon, we’ll install iron doors at the stairwells of the 24th and 25th floors using the materials left over from the renovation. We can’t let outsiders easily come up here.”
