Yu Qian tossed and turned on the bed. It took a long time for the heat on her face to finally subside.
Everything had been normal before, so why did she keep blushing ever since Jiang Zheng confessed to her?
She felt frustrated with herself. Why had she fallen so quickly? At least she should have waited until her birthday, made Jiang Zheng confess again, and then accepted!
Covering her face with both hands, Yu Qian silently admitted defeat. To hell with the whole ‘older sister-younger brother romance’ nonsense. She had lived two lifetimes, and now, at last, she was about to experience her first love.

On a university campus, good-looking men and women always drew attention, let alone Bai Qiming and Jiang Zheng, who had been voted the two most handsome students of Peking University as soon as they entered.
Compared to Bai Qiming’s aloof and unapproachable demeanor, Jiang Zheng was far more popular.
His peach blossom eyes always carried a teasing charm, and the ever-present smile on his lips, combined with his carefree and sunny personality, made it easy for people to fall for him at first sight.
Even though Jiang Zheng had been inseparable from Yu Qian since the start of the school year, neither had ever confirmed they were in a relationship. And so, plenty of brave girls still tried their luck confessing to him.
Most gave up after being rejected once, but there were always exceptions— like right now.
Jiang Zheng looked at the girl in front of him, who was wearing a black crop top under a white jacket, her makeup bold and striking. His eyes were filled with impatience.
Annoyed, he glanced toward the dormitory building. Why was Yu Qian still not down yet?
Lin Niannian had reserved a table at a restaurant and invited them for a meal. Bai Qiming had accompanied her there first, while Jiang Zheng had come to pick up Yu Qian from the girls’ dorm. But the moment he arrived, this girl had latched onto him.
“Hey, Handsome, let’s just add each other on WeChat. We’re both single anyway, no harm in hanging out together, right?” As the girl spoke, she turned her phone screen toward Jiang Zheng, showing her WeChat QR code. She even winked at him.
Jiang Zheng said flatly, “Sorry, I don’t want to. Please leave.”
Even after being rejected, the girl remained persistent. “Oh, come on, we’re adults. What’s wrong with making more friends? You can always chat with me when you’re bored……”
Jiang Zheng’s expression darkened with irritation. He rarely insulted people, but when he did, he didn’t discriminate. And since he had already turned the girl down twice, he had no patience left.
“Can you stop looking at me with that fake, pretentious expression? It’s honestly disgusting. If you don’t have enough self-awareness to realize how ugly you are, I suggest you spend more time looking in the mirror. It’s better to damage yourself than to come out and harm others.
And another thing— I remember rejecting you at the teaching building last time. Was I not clear enough? Did you actually think that I, Jiang Zheng, would entertain just anyone?”
The girl had never been humiliated so mercilessly before. Her face changed instantly, but she still forced herself to remain composed. “It’s just a friend request, why are you being so mean?”
Jiang Zheng took a step back, his gaze filled with disdain. “Word of advice— don’t take yourself too seriously. Just because your WeChat is as worthless as trash doesn’t mean mine is the same.”
The girl trembled with anger. “If you don’t want to add me, then don’t! But there’s no need to say such harsh words. Aren’t you just relying on having a bit of money and looking a little better than others?”
Hearing that, Jiang Zheng laughed in disbelief. “Since you don’t even care about saving face, why should I bother holding back my words? What does my family’s wealth or my looks have to do with you? At least I have some self-awareness, unlike you— dressing up every day, all dolled up like a peacock. Must be exhausting, huh?
You have a head, but it doesn’t seem to be working properly. Since you don’t even respect yourself, why should I? Honestly, I’m surprised the country hasn’t thought about using your face to research bulletproof armor yet.”
Their exchange happened right in front of the girls’ dormitory, where plenty of people were passing by.
Many students heard Jiang Zheng’s harsh words. Some curious girls even stood nearby to watch the drama unfold, while others secretly recorded the scene on their phones.
Jiang Zheng couldn’t care less. By the time Yu Qian finally came downstairs, a whole crowd had gathered at the entrance.
Through the throng of people, Yu Qian spotted Jiang Zheng and quickly squeezed her way through. Just in time to witness how ruthless he could be when scolding someone.
She looked at him with complicated emotions, suddenly understanding the fear that the Yu Qian in the book must have felt when Jiang Zheng lashed out at her.
For some reason, the girl he had just insulted didn’t leave. With red-rimmed eyes, she stood frozen in place, occasionally sneaking glances at him, even as her friends tried to pull her away.
Jiang Zheng, seeing how shameless the other party was, didn’t even bother scolding her anymore. Instead, he pulled out his phone to call Yu Qian— only to look up and see her standing in the crowd with a complicated expression.
His entire demeanor changed instantly and gone was the domineering, scornful attitude. Now, his face was full of grievance and dissatisfaction. Striding over to Yu Qian, he complained, “What took you so long? See? I got harassed while waiting for you.”
Without giving Yu Qian a chance to respond, he took her hand and led her away, his sudden shift in attitude making the watching girls gasp in astonishment.
“What happened just now?” Yu Qian asked. She knew Jiang Zheng’s mouth could be vicious, but he wouldn’t curse someone out for no reason. What had that girl done to provoke him?
“Heh, just some wannabe player trying to string me along. Too bad I ripped off her disguise.” Jiang Zheng clearly had no interest in talking about the other girl. However……
“You see? There are always girls trying to stick to me. Aren’t you even a little worried someone might steal me away?” He asked, his voice dripping with grievance.
Yu Qian: “……”
To be honest, with his level of verbal skill, she really wasn’t worried at all.
Seeing her silence, Jiang Zheng pressed on, unwilling to let it go, “So when are you going to make our relationship official? These annoying admirers are getting out of hand.”
Though his tone was playful, Yu Qian could see the sincerity in his eyes. Feeling a little flustered, she turned her head away and mumbled, “Didn’t you say you’d confess again on my birthday?”
They were walking close together, their hands brushing occasionally. Even though Yu Qian spoke in a low voice, Jiang Zheng heard her clearly.
His eyes widened in disbelief, then filled with joy. Did this mean what he thought it did?
Not wanting to overthink, he asked directly, “If I confess again, will you say yes?”
Yu Qian’s face turned red again. Did he really need to ask? Shouldn’t it just be understood?
Seeing her looking everywhere but at him, Jiang Zheng stepped in front of her, blocking her path. His gaze was unwavering. “You’ll say yes, won’t you?”
Yu Qian, embarrassed and flustered, snapped, “If you keep asking, I won’t!”
So if he stopped asking, then it was a yes?
Jiang Zheng reached that conclusion and felt an overwhelming sense of happiness. The grin on his face could no longer be contained.
Watching Yu Qian’s slightly panicked steps, he wanted to ask if he could confess right now. But seeing how even her ears were red, he decided to wait a little longer. Besides, he wanted everything to be perfect when he finally confessed.
Catching up to her, Jiang Zheng happily led Yu Qian toward the restaurant outside the campus.
