Lu Mingcheng truly had no interest in small companies like Xinze, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t change its ownership.
He had directly acquired the company’s shares and put them under her name.
Jiang Qiuyi scanned the document—she now held 82% of Xinze’s shares. The remaining shareholders owned 10% and 8%, respectively.
After reading through everything, she quietly waited for Lu Mingcheng to finish his call.
The moment he hung up, she looked at him with sparkling eyes. “This is for me?”
Lu Mingcheng gave a slight nod and said matter-of-factly, “Didn’t you want my help to change Xinze’s name?”
His gaze swept over her, his expression calm. “Have you thought of a new name yet?”
Jiang Qiuyi shook her head.
Feeling a bit guilty, she muttered, “Last time you said you weren’t interested, so I thought you weren’t going to do anything.”
Lu Mingcheng let out a quiet “Mm.” “I’m still not interested. But since you want to invest, having an extra company isn’t a bad thing.”
Jiang Qiuyi: “…”
Honestly, if she didn’t already know they were getting divorced in a year, with all these extravagant gifts lately, she might’ve actually considered giving Lu Mingcheng a chance.
Unfortunately, they’d be going their separate ways soon. She wouldn’t let herself fall for him.
“Can I go to Xinze now?”
Lu Mingcheng studied her for a moment, easily seeing through her intentions. “Xu Chen handled all the agreements and paperwork. Let him know before you go—he’ll take you there. Right now, he’s the only one they recognize.”
Jiang Qiuyi nodded. “Got it.”
She was eager to see just how long that scumbag could stay arrogant.
Meanwhile, Zhuo Peng had just arrived home.
As soon as Zhuo Peng stepped inside, he immediately started complaining to his girlfriend, Liao Xinyu.
“Baby, you have no idea how awful they were!”
Liao Xinyu furrowed her brows as she applied medicine to his face. “Don’t worry, I heard that woman is about to start working. I’ll make sure you get justice.”
Zhuo Peng hugged her, patting her back gently. “You’re the only one who truly cares about me.”
Liao Xinyu huffed, her face full of disdain. “Your ex-wife must be crazy. She’s useless herself, yet she got people to beat you up?”
She sneered. “Does she even have the brains for that?”
Zhuo Peng hesitated. “But there were a lot of them. That woman in black… she seemed to have a powerful background.”
Liao Xinyu scoffed. “Powerful? Please. She was just putting on a show. If she was really that influential, would she have ended up at the police station? And even if she does have some backing, she’s probably just some man’s mistress. Otherwise, why would only one lawyer show up?”
Zhuo Peng thought about it and found her reasoning quite convincing.
After finishing the treatment on his wounds, Liao Xinyu smirked. “Just wait. I’ll have my dad step in and teach them a lesson. And once I find out where your ex-wife is working, I’ll bring my friends over to stir up trouble. Let’s see how she manages to stay in Ningcheng then.”
Meanwhile, Jiang Qiuyi didn’t plan to go right away. She wanted to let the scumbag stay arrogant for a little longer. More importantly, she worried that if he found out the company was out of his reach, he might refuse to divorce Lin Shanshan and instead keep pestering her. That would be a real headache.
After settling on a general timeline, Jiang Qiuyi felt completely at ease.
She took a few relaxing days off at home, then went on a short vacation with Li Miao. By the time she returned, she happened to hear some good news—Lin Shanshan and Zhuo Peng’s divorce was finalized.
She was finally free.
The moment Jiang Qiuyi heard about it, she immediately called Xu Chen.
“Assistant Xu, I’m planning to visit the new company tomorrow.”
Xu Chen responded promptly, “Understood, Madam. Would 10 a.m. work for you?”
“That works.”
The next morning, Jiang Qiuyi got up early to get ready.
After finishing his workout and freshening up, Lu Mingcheng entered the walk-in closet and noticed a neatly coordinated suit hanging nearby.
Jiang Qiuyi had picked it out for him.
Raising an eyebrow, he glanced at her. “In a good mood?”
Jiang Qiuyi didn’t bother hiding it. “Mm-hmm.”
She added casually, “I put this outfit together for you. See if it suits you.”
Lu Mingcheng gave it a once-over and nodded. “It’s nice.”
It had been nearly two months since he’d last received such VIP treatment.
Jiang Qiuyi simply responded with an “Mm” and didn’t look at him.
Since Lu Mingcheng had helped her out, she figured she should at least show some appreciation. However, she had no intention of going back to playing housekeeper for the Lu family. Instead, she decided that after checking in at her new company, she’d stop by the mall to pick up a gift for him as a token of thanks.
By the time Lu Mingcheng finished getting dressed, Jiang Qiuyi was still doing her makeup.
Lu Mingcheng glanced at her but didn’t dwell on it.
“I’m heading to the office.”
“Mm.” Jiang Qiuyi was too focused on perfecting her makeup to pay him much attention, responding absentmindedly.
Once she finished, she spent another half an hour picking an outfit.
After much deliberation, she settled on a black suit—not the overly formal kind, but one that exuded confidence and authority. It had the perfect “queen boss” energy.
Jiang Qiuyi admired herself in the mirror, fully satisfied.
She had one of the housekeepers snap a photo and sent it to the group chat with Li Miao and the others. She even sent a copy to Lu Mingcheng.
Jiang Qiuyi: [Do I look a little like a boss today?]
Lu Mingcheng didn’t reply.
Meanwhile, her friends in the group chat were showering her with praise.
Li Miao: [OMG, if I weren’t busy, I’d totally go with you just to see the looks on their faces!]
Lin Shanshan: [I’ll give you all a live update.]
Before heading over, Jiang Qiuyi had asked Lin Shanshan if she wanted to come along.
Of course, Lin Shanshan agreed.
She wanted to witness the moment that man realized his dream had completely crumbled.
It was satisfying.
She had moved on, but that didn’t mean she didn’t want to see him fall.
What could she say? Women hold grudges.
As Jiang Qiuyi and her group neared Xinze, chaos was unfolding inside.
Employees were scrambling to tidy up.
Zhuo Peng, who had just recovered from his injuries and finalized his divorce, had barely settled back at work when he was hit with the shocking news—
The new boss was coming.
He was completely stunned, staring at his colleague in disbelief.
“What did you just say? A new boss?”
His coworker sighed. “Yeah, that’s what President Liao said. He sold his shares.”
Zhuo Peng: “?”
He glanced around the office, realizing that everyone else seemed to know—except him.
His brows furrowed, and without wasting a second, he strode toward Liao Xinyu’s office.
Liao Xinyu worked in the company’s finance department.
“Xinyu.” He called from the doorway, his voice tense. “Did your dad sell the company?”
Liao Xinyu had just learned about it herself. Anxiously, she replied, “He didn’t sell it voluntarily. He said he was tricked.”
Zhuo Peng’s expression darkened. “What do you mean, ‘tricked’? If your dad sold the company, what happens to us?”
Seeing his panic, Liao Xinyu quickly reassured him, “Calm down. Even with a new boss, you’re still the department manager. My dad still holds some shares. We won’t be fired.”
Zhuo Peng stared at her, silent for a moment.
“How much is ‘some’?”
Liao Xinyu hesitated. “…About ten percent.”
Zhuo Peng’s eyes widened in shock. “Only ten percent? What’s the point then?”
Liao Xinyu opened her mouth but had no words.
As the two stood there, tense and speechless, a colleague’s voice rang out from a distance—
“Everyone, gather up! The new boss is downstairs!”
Xinze wasn’t a big company. It occupied the eighth floor of an office building, with a relatively modest workspace.
When Jiang Qiuyi entered with her team, the employees stood in two neat rows, looking sharp and professional.
The moment she stepped in, all eyes turned to her—followed by an audible gasp.
Zhuo Peng and Liao Xinyu hurried out of the office, only to witness the scene unfolding before them.
Zhuo Peng’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. Without thinking, he strode straight toward Jiang Qiuyi. “Why are you in our company?”
Jiang Qiuyi raised an eyebrow. “Your company?”
She let out a small chuckle and turned to the man standing beside her—President Liao. With a casual tone, she asked, “President Liao, who are these two?”
President Liao shot his daughter a subtle warning glance before replying respectfully, “Miss Jiang, these are just employees. They don’t know their place.”
Jiang Qiuyi gave a small, acknowledging hum, then glanced down at her watch.
Today, Jiang Qiuyi had chosen to wear a diamond-encrusted watch worth tens of millions. It sparkled brilliantly under the lights, an undeniable statement of extravagance.
She smiled. “We agreed on ten o’clock. These two seem to be late, don’t they?”
President Liao wiped the sweat forming on his forehead. “Miss Jiang, they didn’t mean to be late.”
“Mm.”
Jiang Qiuyi shot Xu Chen a glance. Understanding immediately, he pushed a chair behind her.
She sat down gracefully, crossing one leg over the other. “So, it was intentional then.”
With a soft smile, she continued, “I don’t want to scare anyone on my first day here, and I have no interest in setting strict rules.”
Her smile deepened. “But since these two employees are late… let’s fire them.”
Zhuo Peng snapped out of his daze. “What did you just say?”
Jiang Qiuyi’s smile remained. “Do you have a hearing problem?”
Zhuo Peng snapped, “Who do you think you are? This is Xinze! You think you can just come in here and throw your weight around?”
His mind was still spinning from the shocking news, too muddled to think clearly.
Jiang Qiuyi casually pointed. “President Liao, why don’t you explain?”
President Liao shot a furious glare at Zhuo Peng and his daughter, gritting his teeth. “This is our company’s new shareholder, Miss Jiang.”
Jiang Qiuyi raised a finger and corrected him. “Wrong.”
She stood up, her voice calm but firm. “At first, I thought President Liao was managing the company well, so I was happy to just be a passive shareholder. But now, I see that’s not quite the case.”
She smiled lightly. “How about this? Moving forward, my assistant, Manager Lin, will oversee operations on my behalf.”
President Liao’s smile stiffened. He looked at her uneasily. “Miss Jiang, that’s not what we originally agreed upon.”
Xu Chen glanced at the bodyguards behind him. “Take President Liao to the hospital.”
Chaos erupted.
Everyone was shaken.
Jiang Qiuyi, unfazed, swept her gaze over the crowd. “Who’s the HR manager?”
A man hesitantly stepped forward.
Jiang Qiuyi pointed at Zhuo Peng and said flatly, “Fire him.”
Before Zhuo Peng could even react, she turned to Xu Chen. “Change the company’s name. I don’t like it. Feels unlucky.”
Xu Chen nodded smoothly. “Understood, President Jiang.”
