The moment He Han finished speaking, the livestream chat exploded, filling the screen with comments. Viewers were glued to their screens, eyes fixed on He Han and Ye Fan.
“Can someone tell me how He Han is staying this calm?!”
“No wonder he’s my idol. Even when he says something suggestive, he still has that aloof, reserved vibe. The contrast is so attractive!”
“Ye Fan looks just as unfazed. Did they plan this in advance?”
“Guys, ship the on-screen couple all you want, but don’t drag real-life relationships into this.”
Fans were buzzing with excitement, but the two people in question remained composed as they watched the endless stream of comments roll past.
He Han handed the card back to the host, the faint smile on his lips fading as he returned to his usual detached demeanor—calm, distant, and unaffected.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Ye Fan sitting beside him. Her posture was straight, her neck elegantly elongated, and the soft-colored gown she wore made her skin look even more luminous.
His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly—so subtly that no one would notice.
Leaning back into his chair, he fixed his gaze ahead, seemingly looking at the camera.
Tonight’s livestream was packed with one surprise after another, causing the viewer count to skyrocket. The host, well aware of what the audience wanted, expertly steered the conversation in the right direction.
After wrapping up the comment-reading segment, he turned to the cast and asked, “Have you all been keeping up with Undercover on the Bund at home?”
The veteran actor nodded. “I have. My son even told me his classmates are really enjoying it.”
The rookie supporting actress beamed. “My whole family is hooked on this show!”
Ye Fan curved her lips into a smile. “Not gonna lie, this is the first time I’ve played a role where my face actually gets screen time.”
Laughter rippled through the livestream. Everyone knew Ye Fan had no industry connections and had previously worked only as a stunt double.
The comment section instantly exploded:
“This girl made it to trending lists with just her eyes!”
“A stunt double outshining the lead? This is a first for the entertainment industry!”
“Ye Fan’s fans, don’t get ahead of yourselves. You act like Tang Jin doesn’t have a fanbase too.”
“Looking for a fight? Take it elsewhere. No drama here, please.”
After Ye Fan answered, the host turned to He Han. “What about you, He Han?”
His voice was cool and detached. “This was my first time filming an intimate scene…”
He paused briefly before adding, “I wanted to see if there was anything I could improve on.” His sharp features remained stoic, lips pressed into a firm line.
The rest of his thought remained unspoken—
If there were areas to improve, then perhaps next time… he would do better.
The comment section erupted:
“Wait… is he saying he’s open to doing more intimate scenes in the future?!”
“Someone slap me, I must be dreaming! This couple is too sweet—I’m falling for them, and I can’t climb out!”
“Let’s all raise the HanYe ship flag! This is a daily dose of sweetness overload!”
“…”
By the time the livestream ended, the HanYe CP had gained over a hundred thousand new followers on their dedicated fan page.
It was already late when the broadcast wrapped up, and the cast gradually exited the studio.
The filming location was on one of the upper floors, requiring a walk down a long hallway to reach the elevator.
The hallway was narrow, and Ye Fan walked straight ahead, unaware of the movement behind her. Footsteps echoed from behind, but she didn’t know whose they were.
Her high heels wobbled slightly on the floor, throwing her off balance.
Just as she was about to fall, a steady hand caught her.
He Han’s eyes narrowed slightly, his arm strong and unwavering.
Ye Fan’s body barely brushed against him, her fair right arm grazing the fabric of his suit—soft, warm, fleeting.
“Thanks.” Her voice was cool and composed.
She quickly straightened herself and looked up, only to realize that the person beside her was He Han.
For a brief moment, surprise flickered across her face. She hadn’t known he was behind her.
But she recovered swiftly.
As she moved, her long hair swayed, brushing past He Han’s face. A faint fragrance drifted through the air, lingering at the tip of his nose.
His voice was low and deep as he replied, “You’re welcome.”
He let go of her hand. Ye Fan offered a polite smile before continuing toward the elevator.
He Han remained where he was, his gaze trailing after her until her silhouette disappeared at the end of the hallway.
—
Ye Fan received a call from Dai Jinshan. He told her that she might be booked for an upcoming event, and negotiations were currently underway. In the meantime, he advised her to keep her schedule open.
After learning this, Ye Fan stayed home more often, spending most of her time with Dudu.
Though still young, Dudu understood that his mother had to work. He never fussed when she left, but whenever she came home, he would cling to her even more.
“Dudu, let’s play a game today, okay?”
Ye Fan gently stroked Dudu’s tiny ear as she spoke to him.
Dudu sat on her lap, tilting his head up to look at her, listening intently.
“Yes! Yes!” He clapped his little hands, brimming with excitement.
Ye Fan smiled and gave his small hand a gentle squeeze. “Let’s play hide and seek. Dudu will hide first, and Mommy will come find you. How does that sound?”
His soft, milky voice responded, “Okay!”
Ye Fan continued, “Can you count, sweetheart?”
The original owner of this body had been negligent and never taught Dudu much. Many things that children his age should know were still unfamiliar to him.
He had no grandparents to help guide him, and for the longest time, he had been alone, confined to a small home.
According to the book’s storyline, once Dudu started interacting with people—especially after beginning school—his learning ability would improve by leaps and bounds.
Recently, Ye Fan had been teaching him to count, but he often got it wrong. Sometimes he skipped numbers, other times he would lose track halfway through.
Now, she wanted to use this game as an opportunity to help him learn.
Sure enough, Dudu scrunched up his soft, chubby little face in concentration. With a serious expression, he stretched out his tiny hands, carefully spreading each finger. He wasn’t sure if he had enough fingers to count with.
But Mommy had taught him, so he was determined to do it.
Tilting his head up, he looked at Ye Fan. “Dudu can do it!” he declared confidently.
Ye Fan chuckled. “Then hurry and hide. Mommy will count to fifteen before coming to find you.”
Hearing that, Dudu sprang into action. Using both his hands and feet, he scrambled off Ye Fan’s lap. His tiny hands clung to the hem of her clothes, and his little legs flailed as he slid down her legs. It took him a moment to finally land on the floor.
“Mommy, no peeking!” Dudu, afraid she might cheat, made a dramatic gesture to cover his own face.
But the very next second, his chubby fingers spread apart just a little, leaving a tiny gap for his round, curious eyes to peek through.
“That won’t do!” he huffed, waving his hands in mock disapproval, earnestly “educating” Ye Fan on the rules.
His serious little act made Ye Fan want to laugh, but she held it in. Mimicking his solemn expression, she nodded seriously. “Of course. Mommy won’t cheat.”
Once Dudu was steady on his feet, Ye Fan walked over to the window. “Alright, Mommy is starting to count. Baby, go hide!”
She turned her back to him, appearing as if she couldn’t see a thing—but her ears were perked up, carefully listening to every little sound behind her.
Ye Fan heard Dudu deliberately softening his footsteps. She could easily picture him sneaking around, tiptoeing as he searched for the perfect hiding spot.
“Ten, nine, eight…”
She quickened her countdown just a little. Sure enough, the sound of hurried little footsteps filled the room—Dudu had panicked and dashed off to hide.
“Alright, I’m turning around now!”
Ye Fan waited until he was ready before spinning around. She swept her gaze across the room—and immediately broke into a smile.
A small bulge stuck out from behind the curtain, rising and falling in time with Dudu’s breaths. It was so obvious that pretending not to see him was almost a challenge.
“Hmm… where did Dudu go?” she mused out loud, feigning confusion.
She strolled around the room, deliberately avoiding the curtain to let him hide a little longer.
“Wow, Dudu is amazing! Mommy can’t find you anywhere!”
After a few moments, she finally stepped toward the curtain, pausing right in front of it. With a mischievous glint in her eye, she made a show of scanning the room as if searching.
Behind the curtain, the small figure stiffened.
Ye Fan noticed that Dudu had even held his breath—his little belly, which had been making the curtain move, suddenly went still.
“Could Dudu be hiding behind the curtain?” Ye Fan took a few steps closer and lifted a corner of the fabric—immediately revealing the little figure crouched inside.
Dudu had his hands over his eyes, his tiny lips mumbling what sounded like a spell: “You can’t see me, you can’t see me…”
Even with the curtain pulled back, he remained frozen, as if his chant might still work.
Ye Fan crouched down, pretending to look around in confusion. “Huh? Where did Dudu go?”
Dudu had been pressing his fingers tightly over his eyes, but the moment he heard her puzzled voice, he hesitated—then slowly peeked through his fingers.
To his surprise, Ye Fan was right in front of him! But instead of looking at him, she kept glancing around, her eyes never landing on him.
Panicked, Dudu lunged forward, wrapping his little arms around Ye Fan’s neck.
“Mommy, Dudu is right here!” He waved one tiny hand in front of her face. “Can’t you see me?”
To make sure she noticed him, he even puckered his lips and planted several loud kisses on her cheek.
Ye Fan laughed and scooped him up into her arms. “So that’s where you were! You hid so well, Mommy almost couldn’t find you!”
Dudu blinked his big, round eyes. “Wherever Mommy goes, I’ll go too!”
Ye Fan gave Dudu a quick kiss. “Now it’s your turn to find Mommy! You have to turn around and count to fifteen.”
Dudu was having so much fun that he immediately sat up in her lap, spun around, and started counting. “One, two, four…”
Ye Fan took a few steps back while gently correcting him. “Oops, that’s not quite right!”
Realizing his mistake, Dudu quickly stretched out his chubby fingers and began again. “One, two, three…”
His soft, babyish voice filled the room as he counted.
Ye Fan didn’t want to make it too hard for him, so she chose an easy hiding spot. She crouched down behind the sofa, peeking out just enough to make sure he’d spot her.
“Alright.” Dudu lowered his hands. He was so eager to finish counting that his counting skills seemed to improve as he went along.
When Dudu turned around, the room was empty—Ye Fan had hidden herself. In his little slippers, he hurried around the room, his feet making soft pattering sounds.
He first went to the curtains and lifted them, peering behind them. Mommy wasn’t there.
Next, he dashed over to the living room cabinet, pulling open the doors. No Mommy there either.
After searching several spots without success, Dudu pouted instinctively, his little face scrunched up in frustration. He quickly began to circle the room, determined to find her.
Ye Fan heard him moving around. Smiling to herself, she deliberately made a noise on the floor, just loud enough for Dudu to hear.
Dudu immediately turned around, his previously dull eyes lighting up with excitement. He quickly scampered over with his little legs, heading straight for the sofa.
He peeked around the edge, and there she was—Mommy was crouched behind the sofa.
“It’s Mommy!” Dudu grinned wide, showing his tiny white teeth. Ye Fan scooped him up, holding his soft little body in her arms.
Ye Fan couldn’t stop praising him. “You found Mommy so easily, didn’t you?”
Dudu rested his head on Ye Fan’s shoulder, blinking a few times. His long black lashes brushed against her neck, sending a ticklish sensation across her skin.
His voice was full of certainty. “Of course!”
“Because I’m Mommy’s baby!”
