Chapter 25 Goodbye to That Tree
The greening of Changyi Middle School is very good, and there are tall and big Chinese parasol trees in the school.
In the early morning, the sunlight slanted through the gaps in the leaves and fell on the protective net.
Several zombies crawled into the protective net, dragging their rotten bodies, wandering crookedly downstairs.
Fu Jingmo stood in front of the window, opened a gap in the window, threw out the black crystals, and solved the problem.
He Ze, who had just woken up, stuffed clothes into his big pants while staring at the zombies downstairs and then turned his head to look at Fu Jingmo.
“Damn, you’re amazing, what is this?” He showed a pleasing smile, “Teach me, will you?”
Fu Jingmo ignored him, closed the window, and walked to Lin Mu’s bedside.
He Ze also followed, “When do you think Mumu will wake up?”
“I don’t know,” Fu Jingmo frowned. Lin Mu seemed to be asleep, completely without any abnormalities.
“Aah,” He Ze sighed like a worried old father, “Why is Mumu like this?”
“His abilities are overdrawn…”
“Ability!!? Mumu also has abilities!!”
The army that retreated yesterday distributed some printed paper. He Ze bent over and found it from under the table, slapped it on the table, and briefly popularized the supernatural power on it.
“Well,” Fu Jingmo glanced at it and didn’t say anything more.
“Brother, Brother Fu, what you just did is also an ability, right? Can I learn it!!” He Ze changed his tone, calling Fu Jingmo “brother”.
“…”
Fu Jingmo leaned against the table, hummed irritably. He really wanted Lin Mu to wake up quickly and take care of his friend himself.
He ate a casual lunch and took out a black box to study the information on it at the table.
The faculty dormitory has a small kitchen area where cooking is possible.
Seeing that Fu Jingmo didn’t pay attention to him, He Ze planned to prepare some food for Lin Mu.
The dormitory had been out of power for a long time, so he found the cassette stove and a few gas canisters that he had used when playing outdoors before, and quietly cooked porridge.
——
Lin Mu felt like he had been in a deep sleep for a very long time, and his subconscious seemed to have entered a strange area.
In front of him, there is a piece of grassland, without any buildings. When he look around, it is about the size of a playground. Beyond that, there is a white fog, like a barrier.
His intuition tells him that he can no longer go beyond the white fog.
The only thing in this space is the tree on the lawn – the tree that has penetrated into Lin Mu’s body. It seems like it has just taken root, and he can even sense a hint of weakness from it.
It is still a small tree, barely reaching his ankles, just like when it entered his body.
If it weren’t for the fact that the land under the tree is slightly higher than the surrounding area, he might not have noticed it.
He raised his legs and stepped closer.
The tree trembles, and the few lonely leaves on it seem to be trembling.
Lin Mu: “??? Shouldn’t I be the one who’s afraid???”.
Fortunately, he remember that it saved him. He walk up to it, squat down, and observe it carefully. The back of the leaves is still the same as before, with visible flowing things, but it’s not all green and gold. There are some traces of red, like blood.
It seems like something is attracting Lin Mu. After hesitating for a while, he reaches out his hand and gently strokes it.
As soon as his hand touched the leaf, that thing crazily drilled into Lin Mu. ‘Damn it! I knew I shouldn’t have touched it!’
The tearing pain in his body resurfaced.
A powerful consciousness appeared in his mind, causing a splitting headache. The consciousness was chaotic and unclear, as if trying to tell him something, but it was restrained and struggling desperately.
After a long time, maybe half an hour, maybe several hours, he became almost numb to the pain on his body. Sweat dripped down his face, tracing a path along his fair skin and falling to the ground.
Strangely, he gradually felt that the tree was seeking help from him.
Energy?
What kind of energy?
He couldn’t comprehend.
Green liquid flowed into Lin Mu’s body, separating the golden and red colors.
With the entry of the green liquid, the trees seem to be visible. The cells in his body were gradually being repaired, one by one. The painful areas, the injured parts, the blood surged, and each one healed.
Until they rushed towards the heart. He remembered, this tree had crushed his heart back then.
Lin Mu couldn’t help but feel a little scared, gritting his teeth and restraining himself…
——
He Ze cooked the porridge and then leaned back on the bed.
He looked at Lin Mu eagerly, with memories flooding his mind, from when he used to follow Lin Mu closely since childhood, to the recent days when Lin Mu had asked him to prepare food for self-protection.
As he thought about this, his eyes turned red again. He stared at the person on the bed without blinking. Suddenly, the person in a coma frowned, showing a pained expression on his face.
He Ze was startled. Before he could call Fu Jingmo, a figure quickly walked to the bed. He lowered his body and looked at Lin Mu with a serious expression.
The person on the bed seemed to be in great pain, clenching his teeth, making a “creaking” sound, tightly clenching his hands into fists, and his whole body was shaking.
“Lin Mu, Lin Mu.”
Fu Jingmo softly called several times. He was afraid that Lin Mu might bite him, so he reached out and held Lin Mu’s chin.
There was fine sweat on the skin he touched, and a trace of unnoticed distress appeared in Fu Jingmo’s eyes.
Lin Mu’s expression even looked somewhat fierce. Just by looking at him like that, one could tell the extent of the suffering he was going through.
He Ze was crying beside him and said anxiously: “Is he in pain? What should I do? What should I do?”
It’s said that dry bones can be rejuvenated, and that green liquid spread to his heart. Lin Mu actually saw his shattered heart being repaired bit by bit.
It hurts, it hurts, it hurts everywhere, it hurts for a moment when it tears, and this slow repair magnifies that pain a thousand times……
Lin Mu wanted to bite his lower lip, but he felt something was holding him tightly. His eyes were filled with tears of pain…
He Ze couldn’t bear to watch any longer. He used tissue to wipe away Lin Mu’s sweat, crying and comforting him, “It won’t hurt anymore, Mumu, it’ll stop hurting soon…”
This condition lasted for over ten minutes, and suddenly Lin Mu opened his eyes.
He was completely exhausted, but he couldn’t help coughing violently, coughing up dark red blood in large amounts.
