Sweet Desire to Kiss! After Getting the Marriage Certificate, I’m Kissed Red Every Night Chapter 19

Chapter 19: Can You Give Me Some Clothes?

Shen Nanzhi curled up under the blanket, her fingers clutching the edge so tightly that they were nearly numb.

At this moment, she wished more than anything that Jiang Jinnian’s bed could suddenly open up a hole beneath her, swallowing her whole and making her disappear.

Seeing her eyes darting around, avoiding his gaze, Jiang Jinnian’s lips curved slightly.

“Remember what happened last night?”

“No! No!” She denied it immediately. “I… blacked out. I don’t remember anything after I got drunk.”

He watched her quietly. “Is that so?”

Shen Nanzhi nodded repeatedly.

Jiang Jinnian lowered his gaze, glancing at the water cup in his hand. “Do you still want the water?”

“No, no, I’m not thirsty.” Shen Nanzhi couldn’t stay here any longer. The instinct to flee surged through her.

As she spoke, she subconsciously tried to get up, desperate to escape his gaze. But just as she moved under the covers, she suddenly remembered what she was wearing—or rather, what little she was wearing.

Shen Nanzhi froze mid-action, forcing herself to lift her head and meet his eyes.

“Brother Jinnian, can you give me some clothes?”

Jiang Jinnian tilted his head toward the sofa, gesturing to the fresh set of clothes that had been delivered earlier.

Then, stepping closer, he grabbed the blanket she was using as a shield, pulling it down slightly despite her resistance. Under her wary and stiffened gaze, he forcibly placed the cup into her hands.

“Hold it.”

“It’s warm. Take a few sips.”

Shen Nanzhi didn’t dare refuse. With trembling hands, she accepted the cup.

“Change your clothes and come out. I’ll be waiting outside.”

Shen Nanzhi nodded, her head hanging low like a timid quail.

After Jiang Jinnian left, she hesitated for a moment before quickly setting the cup down. Pulling back the blanket, she glanced over herself twice, then lowered her gaze to the bedsheet. Only after confirming that there was nothing unusual did she finally breathe a small sigh of relief.

In the ten years she had spent in the Jiang household, Shen Nanzhi had never once stepped into Jiang Jinnian’s room. She had barely even spoken to him.

Now, being inside his bedroom—even with him gone—she couldn’t shake the feeling of tension. The cool-toned bedding and the minimalist decor exuded an impersonal chill, making it impossible for her to relax.

Unfamiliar with the space, she didn’t dare move around recklessly. The idea of stepping into the walk-in closet or any other area didn’t even cross her mind. Carefully treading across the carpet, she grabbed the clothes from the sofa before quickly retreating back onto the bed, pulling the blanket over herself as she changed.

The moment she finished, she didn’t linger for even a second.

Quietly pulling open the bedroom door, her first instinct was to sneak away.

Just as she reached the staircase, a calm voice, devoid of any discernible emotion, sounded from behind her—

“Nanzhi.”

Shen Nanzhi’s heart jolted, her back stiffening instantly.

She hesitated for a moment before forcing herself to stop. Pressing her lips into a strained smile, she slowly turned to look at Jiang Jinnian.

She was afraid he would bring up last night. Her memory was fragmented—she knew they hadn’t gone all the way, but under the influence of alcohol, she had no idea just how much ‘courage’ she had displayed.

“Brother Jinnian, today is Monday. I have an early class, and need to get back to school.”

Jiang Jinnian ended his call with Zhou Lin and began walking toward her.

Shen Nanzhi instinctively wanted to step back, but behind her were the stairs. Her knee bent slightly, but she didn’t dare make a run for it right in front of him. Instead, she gripped the staircase railing tightly.

Jiang Jinnian didn’t mention last night at all.

It was as if nothing had ever happened.

He simply said, “Breakfast is ready. Eat first—I’ll take you to school.”

Shen Nanzhi instinctively refused, “I’ll skip breakfast, I’m in a hurry…”

“Nanzhi.”

Jiang Jinnian glanced at his phone, his voice calm as he interrupted her unfinished excuse. “It’s 7:50 right now. As far as I know, your class starts at 10.”

Shen Nanzhi: “…”

He took a step back. “Go freshen up and have breakfast. I’ll have Zhou Lin take you.”

Shen Nanzhi didn’t dare protest any further.

She let go of the railing, her gaze drifting toward the rooms along the third-floor hallway, intending to find a random guest room. But just as she took a step, Jiang Jinnian’s voice stopped her again.

“Use my bathroom. Your toiletries are in there.”

Shen Nanzhi was stunned.

But when she stepped into the bathroom and saw a set of women’s toiletries placed neatly beside Jiang Jinnian’s on the sink counter, an inexplicable sense of absurdity washed over her.

If someone had told her yesterday afternoon that after having a few drinks with that troublemaker Gu Qinghe, she would wake up in Jiang Jinnian’s room the next morning and be standing at his sink, getting ready—she wouldn’t have believed it even if she were beaten to death.

After finishing breakfast, Shen Nanzhi hurriedly bid Jiang Jinnian farewell, barely sparing him a glance before quickly getting into the car. Without delay, Zhou Lin drove her to school.

The entire ride, Shen Nanzhi remained silent, her mind replaying her reckless actions from the previous night.

It wasn’t until the car approached Huaihai University that she snapped out of her thoughts.

Zhou Lin glanced at the time and asked through the rearview mirror, “Miss Shen, would you like to head straight into the university?”

Shen Nanzhi checked her phone—it was just past nine.

Her class didn’t start until ten, so she had more than enough time to stop by her apartment and grab her laptop.

“Please take me to my apartment. I need to pick up something.”

“Yes, Miss Shen,” Zhou Lin replied.

Her apartment was close to Huaihai University. After getting out of the car, Shen Nanzhi thanked Zhou Lin and told him he could leave.

Once he drove off, she entered the building and took the elevator upstairs.

As soon as she stepped out, she spotted Gu Qinghe waiting outside her apartment.

Unlike her dejected and gloomy state from the previous afternoon, Gu Qinghe’s eyes were now gleaming with excitement as she stared at Shen Nanzhi, making her frown.

“Xiao Nanzhi, you’re finally here.”

“So… where did you spend the night?”
