After My Rebirth, I Decisively Annulled The Engagement And Married The Cold-Faced Military Officer Instead Chapter 10

Chapter 10: The Lu Family Is a Pit, Everyone Says to Leave

“Well…” Lu Jiangting stammered, “Fang Qing might think that if I get married and focus on my own family, I won’t be able to take care of her and her son as much.”

Yi Yunshuo: “…” He thought Lu Jiangting didn’t realize it, but it turns out he knew all along.

Yi Yunshuo didn’t understand.

“Since you know, why are you still doing this?”

“I want to tell her that whether I get married or not, I’ll still help her and her son if they have any difficulties.”

Yi Yunshuo: “…” Well, it seems like he had been meddling too much.

Divorce, divorcing is the right move.

If Lu Jiangting isn’t willing to divorce, he’ll help the girl file a complaint with the military.

The next day, early in the morning, Yi Yunshuo rushed off before even eating breakfast.

He had already agreed with Fu Huayi to go hiking, something they’d planned for a while.

In truth, he just couldn’t stand it anymore and wanted to leave early.

When he arrived, Fu Huayi had just woken up and was about to brush his teeth.

When he saw him, Yi Yunshuo felt as if he had found family.

“Thank goodness there’s only one guesthouse around here, or I wouldn’t have known where to look for you.”

Fu Huayi ignored him and continued brushing his teeth.

Yi Yunshuo pulled out his toothbrush too, searching for toothpaste as he spoke, “I really didn’t expect Lu Jiangting to be like this. You wouldn’t believe what’s going through his head. He said he and that girl have a strong bond and that he’d make it up to her later.

But get this, he knows that Fang Qing’s whole point is to stop him from getting married. He knows, you get it? He knows, and yet he still lent her money, putting himself in a position where he can’t get married.”

Fu Huayi let out a cold laugh but still said nothing.

Yi Yunshuo found the toothpaste, squeezed some onto his brush, then got some water and continued talking, “He also said Fang Qing is worried that after he gets married, he won’t take care of her and her child anymore. So he’s doing this to reassure her that, married or not, he’ll still look after them.”

“Hah, that girl was right then. Even after he gets married, Lu Jiangting will still be running around taking care of Fang Qing and her child, granting their every request.

A lifetime is a long time. I doubt there will be much compensation for that girl. Dragging her into this mess and making her suffer seems far more likely.”

Yi Yunshuo started brushing his teeth and stopped talking.

After Fu Huayi finished brushing, he finally spoke, “So you couldn’t take it anymore either?”

Yi Yunshuo gave a muffled response.

Fu Huayi said, “Well, I guess we won’t be attending the wedding banquet after all—saves us twenty bucks. How about we hit up a state-owned restaurant for a nice meal later?”

Yi Yunshuo eagerly nodded.

After breakfast, that shameless Lu Jiangting actually went to the village shop, bought two bags of fruit candy, and headed to Lin Yuyao’s house.

However, Lin Yuyao wasn’t home at the time.

At home, only Lin Dawei was around, shoveling chicken droppings from the coop.

Lu Jiangting searched around for a bit before spotting Lin Dawei, bending over and calling out to him, “Uncle, you’re busy. Where’s Yuyao?”

Lin Dawei, who was hard at work shoveling the droppings: “…”

Realizing it was that scoundrel, he lifted a shovelful of chicken dung and flung it at him.

“Get lost.”

Lu Jiangting, being quite agile, managed to dodge it.

“Uncle, I know I was wrong. I came to apologize to Yuyao. I will make it up to her. A lifetime is long, and I’ll spend mine making it up to her.”

“We don’t need your apology. Now get out.”

Lin Dawei marched out of the chicken coop with the shovel in hand, trying to slide-tackle him.

But unfortunately, his skills were no match. His attempt failed miserably, and Lu Jiangting pinned him underfoot, leaving him immobile.

Furious, Lin Dawei spat at him.

“Who told you to come here? Didn’t you hear me when I said ‘get lost’?”

“Uncle, I really know I was wrong. If hitting me will make you feel better, then go ahead. But not with the shovel, that could kill me.”

Lin Dawei shook his head, spitting angrily. “Pah, hitting you would just dirty my hands. I won’t hit you, but don’t think you have any future with Yuyao. I’m telling you, this marriage is definitely over.”

Seeing how determined Lin Dawei was, Lu Jiangting thought for a moment and suggested, “How about this: we can still hold the wedding banquet, just not with twenty tables. How about we keep it small, maybe just three or five tables, and only invite close family members for a meal? What do you think?”

“No way. Even if you set up thirty or fifty tables, it won’t change a thing.”

Lin Dawei grabbed a broom from the side. “Get out! Get out of here right now.”

Seeing how agitated Lin Dawei was, Lu Jiangting realized there was no way to have a proper conversation at this point.

And since Yuyao wasn’t home, he decided to leave for now.

As he left the Lin household, he asked a neighbor nearby.

The neighbor replied, “Early this morning, I saw Yuyao and her mother go out. Not sure if they went to visit relatives or into the city.”

No wonder he couldn’t find her.

“Alright, thank you,” Lu Jiangting said to the neighbor, then walked back, still carrying the two bags of fruit candies.

As soon as he got home, his parents asked, “Why’d you bring them back? They must’ve said some harsh things. Just endure it and try to coax them nicely.”

Lu Jiangting gulped down a large glass of water and said, “Yuyao wasn’t home. The neighbors said she and her mother left early in the morning.”

“Huh? Where did they go?”

“I don’t know. I’ll go back in the afternoon.”

“Sigh! Fine, that works too,” Wang Cuilan replied, glancing at the candy on the table. “Jiangting, make sure your attitude is better next time. After all, you’re the one at fault here. Yuyao’s a good girl; don’t let her slip away.”

“Mom, I know,” Lu Jiangting responded.

At that moment, Lin Yuyao and her mother, Ye Lian, had already arrived in town. The main reason they came today was to return the items meant for the wedding.

Since she had no intention of getting married anymore, they planned to return whatever they could, and if something couldn’t be returned, they’d chalk it up to bad luck.

They spent the entire morning haggling in various stores, saying all the right things, and managed to return quite a few items.

As for the ones they couldn’t return, Ye Lian picked through them and said, “We’ll take these back. Later, we can see if anything can be used for your big brother’s wedding during the New Year. That way, the losses won’t be too bad.”

There were definitely some losses, but given the circumstances, there wasn’t much they could do.

If they didn’t cut their losses now, they’d only lose more in the future.

By the time noon approached, Ye Lian tugged at her, leading her toward the state-owned restaurant.

Lin Yuyao glanced at the restaurant’s sign. “Mom, what are we doing here?”

Ye Lian replied, “We’re going to treat ourselves to a meal.”
