Chapter 30 : How can humans be on the same level as animals?
Song Shiwei was shocked and quickly put the duck eggs into the backpack, handing it to Zhou Lin.
She rushed forward and shielded the two children behind her.
Staring directly at the woman in front of her, she snapped,
“What are you doing? What’s the point of bullying two kids? Come at me if you dare!”
She moved so fast that before Zhou Cheng could even react, she had already stepped in front of Zhou Wei and Xinxin, protecting them like a hen shielding her chicks.
For a moment, Zhou Cheng couldn’t quite figure out how he felt.
On the other side, Zhou Xiaoyan was also caught off guard by the sudden appearance of this woman.
The woman was stunningly beautiful, her eyebrows arched delicately like willow leaves, her phoenix-shaped eyes were captivating, her nose was dainty, and her lips were a soft cherry red. Her fair skin looked smooth and flawless.
Zhou Xiaoyan couldn’t believe this was Zhou Tingyue’s new wife.
But then, she heard Sun Meimei beside her exclaim, “Tingyue’s wife!”
Only then did she realize that the breathtaking woman in front of her was indeed Zhou Tingyue’s new wife!
She had been looking for the real homeowner, and now that she had found her, she wasn’t about to let things slide!
Besides, a flicker of jealousy rose in her heart.
Her tone immediately became harsh.
With a sneer, she pointed at Song Shiwei’s nose and said, “You must be the young wife Zhou Tingyue just married, right? Perfect timing! This vegetable garden belongs to me, and all the vegetables in it were grown by me! If I hadn’t caught your kid stealing cucumbers, I wouldn’t have even known how much food you’ve taken! Now tell me, how do you plan to compensate me?”
So that’s what this was about.
Song Shiwei recalled that Zhou Tingyue had mentioned before that he had exchanged this house with someone in order to get married.
It seemed like the house originally belonged to this woman?
But even so, that didn’t give her the right to bully two children!
“Compensation? Sure, we can talk about that. But first, what about the way you treated our children?”
Hearing this, Zhou Xiaoyan’s eyebrows shot up, and she nearly jumped in anger.
“Who bullied your kids?”
Song Shiwei’s sharp eyes instantly noticed Zhou Wei’s reddened ears, they had clearly been twisted by someone!
At that moment, Zhou Wei peeked out from behind her and shouted angrily, “You bullied us! You twisted my ear and pushed my sister down! Her hands and knees got all scratched up!”
Song Shiwei’s heart clenched when she heard this.
She immediately crouched down to check Xinxin’s injuries.
Sure enough, there were large scrapes on the little girl’s knees and hands, with blood oozing out. Her eyes were red, and she looked like she was in a lot of pain, but she stubbornly refused to shed a tear.
Song Shiwei felt a pang of heartache.
She gently blew on the wounds and asked softly, “Xinxin, does it hurt?”
Zhou Xinxin had been holding back, but the moment she heard those comforting words, she suddenly burst into tears.
“Waaah~~ It hurts! It hurts so much!! Wuuu…”
Even the bystanders, including Sun Meimei, couldn’t bear to watch anymore.
They all turned to Zhou Xiaoyan.
“Xiaoyan, I don’t mean to criticize you, but even if the kids ate a few cucumbers and tomatoes, is it really that big of a deal? Did you have to go after two little children like this?”
“That’s right! I saw you push Xinxin and twist Zhou Wei’s ear with my own eyes! You’re a grown woman, why are you picking on little kids?”
Zhou Xiaoyan rolled her eyes and snorted.
“If I hadn’t pushed her away, she would’ve stolen my tomatoes! And that little brat had the nerve to talk back to me! If I don’t teach him a lesson, I wouldn’t be worthy of my name, Zhou!”
Zhou Wei’s eyes turned red with anger. “Who told you to bully my sister?”
Hearing this, Zhou Xiaoyan immediately became enraged and rolled up her sleeves, stepping forward.
“You little brat, how dare you talk back to me?! Let me teach you a lesson!”
As she raised her arm, ready to slap Zhou Wei, a loud smack echoed in the air, her face was hit instead.
Song Shiwei had slapped her.
A crisp pop sounded, and a red palm print immediately appeared on Zhou Xiaoyan’s right cheek.
She stared at Song Shiwei in disbelief.
“You dare hit me?!”
Song Shiwei wiped her hand on her clothes and sneered, “I don’t even want to dirty my hands hitting you! I didn’t want to argue with a mad dog after all, how can a human argue with a beast? But if a mad dog insists on biting people, then it needs to learn why we are humans and it can only be a beast.”
Though she hadn’t used a single vulgar word, Zhou Xiaoyan’s face turned red with fury.
Everyone present immediately understood who the “mad dog” and “beast” were referring to.
Sun Meimei and the other neighbors had long been fed up with Zhou Xiaoyan. She always looked down on them just because she was from Beijing. Who did she think she was?
No matter how great she thought she was, she still had a nose and a mouth like everyone else what made her so special?
They had originally thought Song Shiwei would suffer a loss this time, but unexpectedly, Zhou Xiaoyan had underestimated her opponent. Now she had hit a wall, literally.
Zhou Cheng and Zhou Lin had been ready to jump in and fight, but they didn’t expect Song Shiwei to handle it so swiftly on her own.
Zhou Xiaoyan clutched her burning cheek, her face and neck turning red with rage.
With bloodshot eyes and gritted teeth, she glared at Song Shiwei. “Fine! You dare to hit me? I—I’ll fight you!!”
She rolled up her sleeves and lunged at Song Shiwei, attempting to headbutt her.
But Song Shiwei wasn’t just some delicate woman, she had been a judo master in her previous life.
With a simple sidestep, she dodged the attack.
Zhou Xiaoyan, having used too much force, missed entirely and crashed headfirst into the wall behind her.
A loud bang echoed through the courtyard.
Her body went limp, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed onto the ground.
She had knocked herself unconscious!
Bloodstains appeared on the wall, showing just how much force she had used in her reckless attack.
How much hatred must she have held to go after Song Shiwei with such aggression?
The neighbors, who had been watching, were completely stunned.
Some rushed forward to check on Zhou Xiaoyan, while others ran off to call for help from the team.
After all, her husband was still in training with the team and wasn’t home at the moment.
Meanwhile, Song Shiwei simply shrugged.
“Ladies, you all saw that, right? This has nothing to do with me, she did it to herself.”
Sun Meimei, Jian Qiu, and the others nodded quickly. “Don’t worry! Even if this gets reported to the commander, we’ll testify for you!”
But to avoid any complications, several people hurriedly carried Zhou Xiaoyan to the hospital.
Song Shiwei didn’t care about her at all.
Her good mood after finding the sea duck eggs had been completely ruined by this mess.
And more importantly, the two children had been bullied, and Xinxin was injured.
That alone made her furious.
If Zhou Xiaoyan hadn’t knocked herself out, she really would have wanted to teach her another lesson.
Even now, she was still boiling with anger!
There wasn’t any disinfectant at home, so she decided to take Xinxin to the clinic to get her wounds treated.
The weather was hot, and an infection would be dangerous!
