Chapter 144: Who Is Leng Yifeng’s Biological Father?
“You still have the nerve to mention the Pei family?” Lin Qingyou looked at the laboratory benches in the room. “That base under Yanshan—it’s your Pei family’s secret base, isn’t it?”
“The Pei family has always been utterly deranged… You experiment on humans, and now you’re even using children. This is illegal in every country. If we don’t destroy you, then who should we destroy?”
“Shut up!”
Just as Pei Mingzhu shouted angrily, the virus inside her, like a raging demon, suddenly surged again. In an instant, excruciating pain swept through her body like a tidal wave.
Pei Mingzhu immediately curled up in agony, rolling uncontrollably on the cold, hard ground, letting out piercing screams of pain.
“Ahhh… It hurts… It hurts so much…”
“I’m going to kill you… kill you all…”
Her screams were so chilling that they seemed to pierce through the soul.
“Miss!” Shang, standing nearby, was desperate. He instinctively took a step forward, wanting to help the writhing Pei Mingzhu.
However, before Shang could even approach, a gunshot rang out. Lan Si fired without hesitation, hitting Shang’s leg.
“Stay put!” Lan Si commanded coldly.
Shang grunted in pain but barely reacted. His eyes, filled with fury and hatred, locked onto the ruthless Lan Si. “You’re asking for death…”
Lan Si prepared to engage, but before he could make a move, Yin Hanyu and Yin Haoting stepped forward to support him.
However, in the next moment, Shang suddenly shifted his target. With lightning speed, he shot towards Lin Qingyou like an arrow.
“Qingyou!”
In a blink of an eye, he was beside her, his iron-like hands gripping her delicate neck tightly.
He moved so fast—so unnaturally fast—that no one had time to react. By the time they processed what had happened, Lin Qingyou was already in his grasp.
“Qingyou!” Yin Hanyu’s heart clenched as he anxiously shouted her name.
“Don’t come any closer,” Shang threatened, tightening his grip. “Or I’ll kill her right now!”
Yin Hanyu froze, forced to step back, his eyes filled with fear as he stared at Lin Qingyou, whose life now hung by a thread.
At the same time, Shang glanced at a nearby table filled with various vials of medicine. Although many had been broken in the chaos, a few remained intact.
Just as he was about to reach for them, his injured leg suddenly gave out, causing him to stagger.
Lin Qingyou seized the opportunity, delivering an elbow strike.
She expected Shang to flinch in pain and release her.
But instead—she was the one who yelped in pain.
It was only then that Lin Qingyou realized why none of Yin Hanyu’s attacks had affected him earlier.
Shang’s body—was not normal.
It was as hard as iron.
How could such a person exist?
Was he even human?
“Move again, and I’ll kill you right now,” Shang threatened.
“You dare?”
A voice suddenly rang out behind them—Ji Mochen.
Everyone turned to see Ji Mochen holding a gun to Leng Yifeng’s forehead, forcing him into the room.
“Master…”
“Mom…”
“Mom, save me! Save me!”
Leng Yifeng cried out as he entered, but the sight of his mother in even worse condition than himself made his heart sink.
However, the moment Shang saw Leng Yifeng, a flash of light flickered in his eyes.
Lan Si noticed it immediately. Recalling what had happened that night, he suddenly understood everything.
So he grabbed the wailing Pei Mingzhu and dragged her towards Leng Yifeng before turning to Shang.
“If I’m not mistaken, Leng Yifeng is your son, isn’t he?”
Lan Si’s words sent shockwaves through the room.
Everyone, except for Shang, was utterly stunned—especially Pei Mingzhu.
“No way…” she screamed.
“No way… no way… This is impossible…”
Lan Si sneered, “Pei Mingzhu, the louder you deny it, the more guilty you seem. Are you actually admitting that I’m right?”
“Otherwise, why don’t you tell me—who is Leng Yifeng’s biological father?”
“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!” Pei Mingzhu howled in madness.
That night—the man wasn’t Yin Haoting. It wasn’t Lan Si. But in her memory, it was Yin Haoting.
Why?
Was it because Shang had hypnotized her? Had he altered her memories?
Pei Mingzhu looked at Shang in disbelief.
Shang immediately lowered his head, guilty.
“No…” Pei Mingzhu’s mind shattered completely.
Lan Si sneered. “Pei Mingzhu, that night in my brother’s room, it really was me.”
Back then, he often used his brother as cover to sneak away for naps. That night was no different—he had been resting in Yin Haoting’s bed.
Half-asleep, he suddenly heard the door open.
He thought his brother had returned.
But then—a strong floral scent filled his nose.
His instincts screamed at him, and as soon as the intruder stepped inside, he struck, knocking her unconscious.
When he turned on the light—he saw that it was Pei Mingzhu.
But he quickly realized something was wrong with the scent.
He rushed out to find a doctor to check what the scent was.
Just as he stepped into the hallway, he saw a man carrying a woman away.
It was a hotel, so such scenes weren’t uncommon. Lan Si hadn’t paid much attention at first.
But something about the man seemed off—so he glanced again.
And that was when he realized—the woman being carried away was Bai Ci.
Lan Si immediately pursued.
At that same moment, Shang saw him stepping out of Yin Haoting’s room—and something clicked.
Without hesitation, Shang abandoned Bai Ci and dashed into Yin Haoting’s room.
Meanwhile, Lan Si took Bai Ci to find a doctor.
At the time, his focus was entirely on the drugged Bai Ci. He hadn’t thought twice about the strange man.
Now, thinking back—if Leng Yifeng wasn’t his son, then whose son was he?
“…It was really you?” Pei Mingzhu’s voice trembled as she looked at Shang.
Shang kept his head down. “Miss, I’m sorry…”
“AHHHHHHH!” Pei Mingzhu completely broke down.
To her, Shang was nothing but a dog—a hideous, disgusting dog.
He was just a failed experiment of the Pei family.
Because of him, the Pei family had spiraled further into madness.
All these years—if the Pei family hadn’t been wiped out, if Shang wasn’t still useful—Pei Mingzhu wouldn’t have even spared him a glance.
She loved beauty. How could she ever like such an ugly freak?
And now, she was being told—Shang had slept with her.
And she had given birth to his child?!
At that moment, even looking at Leng Yifeng made her feel utterly repulsed…
