Chapter 151: Who Exactly is the Second-in-Command?
“You all have tormented me for so many years, yet I never once thought of dying. But now, in just a single day, you can’t bear it anymore…” As Yin Hanyu spoke, the force under his foot unconsciously increased.
“Yin Hanyu, let go of my mother…”
“You can’t even protect yourself, and you still dare to shout?” Yin Yixuan directly kicked Leng Yifeng to the ground.
“Yifeng…” Shang called out worriedly.
However, Leng Yifeng glared at Shang viciously. “You monster, don’t call me that… I have nothing to do with you…”
“Tsk tsk tsk…” Ji Mo Sheng shook his head in lament. “They say a son won’t despise his father, but it seems that’s not true after all.”
“He’s not my—” Before Leng Yifeng could finish, Ji Mo Sheng cut him off. “Alright, no need for extra words.”
“We didn’t bring you here to acknowledge your father. Whether you accept it or not is your business, I won’t interfere.”
“But…” Ji Mo Sheng turned to Shang. “Where are your companions?”
“I have no companions…” Shang replied.
Ji Mo Sheng shrugged. “Looks like you’re not a very smart person.”
Yin Hanyu grabbed Pei Mingzhu like a ragged dog and yanked her up.
“What are you doing?” Pei Mingzhu looked at Yin Hanyu in fear.
Yin Hanyu sneered coldly, his eyes burning like flames as he stared at Pei Mingzhu. “Besides you, there should be two others. Who are they? And where are they now?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about…” Pei Mingzhu turned her head away.
Without hesitation, Yin Hanyu lifted his leg and kicked her, sending her flying.
She crashed into the wall and spat out blood instantly, too weak even to get up.
However, unexpectedly, Yin Hanyu did not move toward Pei Mingzhu again. Instead, in a flash, he appeared right in front of Leng Yifeng.
With lightning speed, he reached out and clamped his hand tightly around Leng Yifeng’s fragile throat.
Yin Hanyu’s cold gaze shifted to Shang. “Since she refuses to speak, then you speak…”
Shang froze for a moment but quickly regained his composure.
However, seeing Yin Hanyu’s grip tighten and Leng Yifeng struggling in pain, Shang’s expression grew anxious.
Before he could say anything, Yin Hanyu spoke again. “No more nonsense…”
“If you want to keep your son alive, you’d better tell me honestly…”
“After all, killing him now would be effortless for me.”
“You mean it?” Shang stared at Yin Hanyu. “You’ll really let my son go?”
“Of course…” Yin Hanyu released Leng Yifeng. “He’s just a failure. Killing him would be beneath me. Keeping him alive will make him suffer more…”
“But for you…” Yin Hanyu smirked coldly. “His life is the most important thing, isn’t it?”
Shang didn’t deny it.
Yes.
To him, Leng Yifeng was the continuation of his life.
Over the years, he had been secretly watching over Leng Yifeng’s growth.
Shang nodded. “Fine. As long as you guarantee my son’s life, I will tell you…”
At that moment, a furious voice suddenly rang out.
“No!”
“You absolutely cannot tell them…” Pei Mingzhu screamed in a hysterical rage.
Hearing his mother’s firm opposition, Leng Yifeng’s face filled with disbelief!!!
He slowly turned his head, staring at Pei Mingzhu with a look of despair, his lips trembling as he softly called out, “Mom… you…”
Did she really not care whether he lived or died?
Yet, Pei Mingzhu didn’t even glance at him. She snarled, “Don’t call me mom! I never had a son like you…”
Her heartless words cut through Leng Yifeng like a sharp blade, stabbing deep into his heart.
He stared blankly at this familiar yet unfamiliar woman, feeling as if his whole world was crumbling.
All these years, though his mother was strict, he never doubted her love. Even if it was sometimes cold, he still believed in it.
But now, for the first time, he realized that in his mother’s eyes, his life had never been a priority.
What was even more ironic was that the person he had always considered a stranger—his biological father, Shang—
At this critical moment, he was the one who stepped forward, showing deep concern for his safety…
The stark contrast felt like a cruel joke to Leng Yifeng.
“Pei Jue…”
Lin Qingyou looked at Lan Si and Ji Mo Sheng. “Who is the Pei Jue that Shang mentioned?”
“He’s Pei Mingzhu’s uncle,” Lan Si said. “The youngest son of the Pei family.”
“But he was born weak and sickly, always needing rest… so he wasn’t as well-known as Pei Mingzhu. Many people have never even seen him.”
“I see…”
“According to Shang,” Yin Hanyu concluded, “Pei Jue should be the leader of the base.”
Pei Mingzhu was the third-in-command. She had only joined after being abandoned by the Yin family when she tried to bring Leng Yifeng to acknowledge his lineage.
Pei Mingzhu was the last to join.
As for the second-in-command? Shang claimed he didn’t know.
He had only seen Pei Jue.
Pei Jue mainly focused on research, just like him.
The second-in-command, however, was in charge of finances.
Ming Yu suddenly turned to Ji Mo Sheng.
Ji Mo Sheng frowned. “Miss Ming, why are you looking at me like that?”
Ming Yu said, “The second-in-command is someone who rarely appears at the base. But the first time he showed up, he ordered me and Yin Hanyu to kill you.”
“The second time he appeared was when you were close to discovering the base, and they staged an act of mutual slaughter, destroying the base themselves.”
Ji Mo Sheng looked at Ming Yu. “You’re saying he hates me, that he’s my enemy?”
Ming Yu nodded—it was obvious.
“So, who do you think the second-in-command is?”
“Um…” Ji Mo Sheng scratched his head. “I don’t know, because honestly, I have way too many enemies.”
Everyone: “…”
“Hmph…” Lin Qingyou glared at Ji Mo Sheng. “Master, can you be serious? This is an important moment.”
Ji Mo Sheng pouted. “My dear disciple, you’re wronging me. I’m just telling the truth! I really do have a lot of enemies.”
Ji Mo Sheng looked at Yin Hanyu. “Your husband wants to kill me.”
Then he turned to Lan Si. “Your father-in-law wants to kill me too.”
Lan Si: “…”
Yin Hanyu: “…”
Lin Qingyou: “…”
“Master, you’re just…” Lin Qingyou glared at Ji Mo Sheng in frustration.
Yin Hanyu held Lin Qingyou’s hand. “Forget it, let’s head to Sunshine Resort first.”
Earlier, Shang had mentioned that Pei Jue was at Sunshine Resort.
Suddenly, Lin Qingyou’s phone rang. Seeing that it was Xiao Xue calling, she immediately picked up.
As soon as the call connected, Xiao Xue’s voice came through. “Qingyou, I’m so unlucky! I just came to Sunshine Resort for a vacation and ran into a really annoying person.”
“A really annoying person?” Lin Qingyou asked. But before she could finish, she was so shocked that she dropped her phone.
Sunshine Resort???
Her aunt was at Sunshine Resort!!!
In her past life, her aunt had died there…
