“How did he die?” Lin Qingyou asked.
“He was stabbed to death…” Ming Yu replied, “A single fatal stab. And…”
“And what?” Lin Qingyou and Yin Hanyu both turned to look at Ming Yu.
Ming Yu glanced at Xiao Xue, who was lying unconscious on the hospital bed. “There were only your aunt’s fingerprints on the knife. So right now, the police believe your aunt killed Pei Jue.”
“That’s impossible…”
Lin Qingyou immediately denied it. She looked at her unconscious aunt with distress. “Even though my aunt looks tough, she’s actually very timid.”
“She wouldn’t even dare to kill a fish, let alone a person…”
“So…” Yin Hanyu pondered, “There must have been a third person at the scene.”
But Ming Yu said, “We checked the surveillance footage, and there was no sign of a third person at the scene.”
“Let’s go check out the scene,” Lin Qingyou suggested.
“Alright.” Yin Hanyu nodded.
The room where Xiao Xue’s accident happened had been sealed off.
The bloodstain on the floor was still glaringly obvious.
Lin Qingyou walked in and carefully examined the room.
Yin Yixuan said, “I investigated it. This is Pei Jue’s long-term residence. Other than that, there’s nothing special.”
“But why would my aunt come to this room?”
“Which room was your aunt originally staying in?” Yin Hanyu immediately caught on to something.
They found a hotel staff member to ask, and the staff pointed to the opposite room. “Miss Xiao was staying in that room across the hall.”
Yin Hanyu and Lin Qingyou both turned to look at the windows.
Yin Hanyu walked straight out and ran to Xiao Xue’s room.
Inside, he immediately pulled open the curtains.
Standing on the balcony, one could clearly see the opposite room.
Yin Hanyu quickly ran back to Pei Jue’s room and asked Lin Qingyou, “Did your aunt know Pei Jue?”
“I don’t think so.” Lin Qingyou thought carefully. “She complained about the Pei family a lot, especially Pei Mingzhu, but she never mentioned Pei Jue.”
Yin Yixuan added, “Didn’t our uncle say that Pei Jue was sickly and rarely appeared in public? Plus, the Pei and Xiao families don’t get along, so it’s normal if they never met.”
“But if they didn’t know each other…” Yin Hanyu’s gaze swept between the two rooms. “Why would your aunt rush over here after seeing Pei Jue?”
Xiao Xue would only have a reason to go over if she saw someone she recognized.
If it was just a stranger, she wouldn’t have barged into their room, right?
“Unless…” Yin Hanyu paused.
“Unless what?” Yin Yixuan asked.
“Unless there was someone else in this room besides Pei Jue—someone she knew.”
“But we already checked the surveillance footage.” Yin Yixuan showed them the footage. “Xiao Xue did walk over on her own. But the footage cuts off at the door…”
Since this was Pei Jue’s personal room, he wouldn’t have allowed surveillance cameras inside.
Lin Qingyou quickly took a closer look at the footage.
In the video, Xiao Xue was wearing a bathrobe and a shower cap, clearly having just bathed.
She was walking briskly, looking rather angry.
“She looks like she’s here to catch someone cheating…” Yin Yichen suddenly remarked.
“Catch someone cheating?” Yin Yixuan smacked him. “Yin Xiaosan, if you don’t know what to say, don’t say anything.”
Lin Qingyou suddenly looked at Yin Yichen.
Yin Yichen quickly apologized, patting his mouth. “Sister-in-law, don’t be mad. I was just talking nonsense. I didn’t mean to insult your aunt.”
Lin Qingyou shook her head. She wasn’t angry.
Instead, she was thinking the same thing.
Her aunt had rushed over aggressively, clearly seeing something that made her furious.
Otherwise, someone who loved looking good like her aunt wouldn’t have run over in a bathrobe and shower cap.
She really did look like she was storming in to catch someone cheating… But her aunt didn’t have a boyfriend, so what was she catching?
[Youyou, I’m so unlucky. I just arrived at Sunshine Resort and ran into someone I hate.]
Lin Qingyou suddenly recalled what her aunt had said on the phone before the incident.
Someone she hated?
Who was that hated person?
Lin Qingyou grabbed a piece of paper and started writing names.
“Sister-in-law, what are you doing?” Yin Yichen asked, confused.
“I’m listing out all the people my aunt hates.”
Yin Yichen twitched his mouth as he watched her write more and more names. “Aunt hates that many people?”
Lin Qingyou nodded. “Of course…”
Her aunt was straightforward and had many people she liked.
But at the same time, she also had many people she disliked.
Pei Mingzhu, Wang Yalan, Lin Qingqing… Lin Qingyou wrote them all down.
By the time she finished, there were dozens of names.
Finally, Lin Qingyou handed the list to the police. “Officer, can you check if any of these people have been to the resort recently?”
“Alright…”
The police acted swiftly.
After all, even the president had personally inquired about this case.
And in the end, two names came up.
Wang Yalan and Lin Qingqing.
Lin Qingqing opened the hotel door and was surprised to see Lin Qingyou.
“Lin Qingyou, I’m going to kill you—”
The moment she saw Lin Qingyou, she lunged at her in a fit of rage.
But before she could even get close, a single glare from Yin Hanyu made her stumble backward in fear.
The next second, she was so scared that she collapsed to the ground.
Because behind Yin Hanyu stood a group of police officers.
Lin Qingqing’s face instantly turned pale…
After the last hotel incident, she had been on the verge of going to jail.
But in the end, Wang Yalan had spent a fortune and pulled many strings to get her out of trouble.
So now, seeing the police again, Lin Qingqing trembled in fear.
She stammered, “Mom… Mom, the po—”
“Can’t you be a little braver…” Wang Yalan hadn’t finished speaking when she too saw the police and suddenly felt guilty.
Still, she maintained a calm facade and turned on Lin Qingyou. “Lin Qingyou, do you really have to go this far? Qingqing is your sister, can’t you just let her go? She truly knows she was wrong.”
“Knows she was wrong?” Lin Qingyou stepped closer to Wang Yalan and Lin Qingqing. “Does she really?”
“What does your family have to do with my aunt’s incident?” Lin Qingyou stared intently at Wang Yalan and Lin Qingqing’s expressions.
Wang Yalan and Lin Qingqing exchanged glances, both showing confusion. “Your aunt’s incident? What incident?”
Lin Qingyou frowned.
This time, her aunt’s case had been immediately kept under wraps, so it wasn’t widely known.
But were Wang Yalan and Lin Qingqing truly unaware, or were they just pretending?
