CHAPTER 19
This was the first time someone had ever told him to “keep up.”
The team members behind him were momentarily stunned before bursting into laughter.
They meant no harm—just genuine amusement at the unexpected scene.
“Come on, hurry! The car’s over here!” they urged.
The young man shot them a sidelong glance before finally opening the car door and getting in.
“Give her a few minutes,” he said nonchalantly.
Yan Yucheng was still worried, but hearing that remark made him annoyed instead.
“She doesn’t need you to go easy on her,” he said coldly.
The young man didn’t take his words seriously.
He had every reason to be confident—after all, the gap between a professional and an amateur wasn’t just a little.
It was an unbridgeable chasm.
With that, he hit the gas and sped off onto the winding mountain road.
His teammates remained relaxed.
Meanwhile, those unfamiliar with racing looked noticeably pale.
Yan Yucheng’s face was especially dark.
“Hey, wait…” One of the cameramen smacked his forehead as something occurred to him. “Mr. Zhong, are we still shooting now? Qin’s driving their team’s car.”
Mr. Zhong frowned slightly. “Let’s wait for Miss Jiang to bring the car back first.”
The cameraman sighed.
It shouldn’t take too long, right?
This mountain road was dangerously steep—eventually, any girl would get scared…
Just as that thought formed in his mind, he looked up—
And saw the striking car speeding through the second loop at an astonishing pace.
The cameraman’s throat tightened.
Was he seeing things?
“Holy shit!”
“Is that the girl?!”
The gasps around him confirmed that he wasn’t imagining it.
Mr. Zhong and Yan Yucheng were both staring intently at the road above.
The higher the elevation, the tighter the loops—requiring increasingly refined driving skills. One wrong turn, and the car could easily go flying off the road.
Seven hundred and ninety-nine… eight hundred… They counted the seconds silently.
In the next moment, that car flashed past the third loop.
Under the sunlight, its body gleamed like flowing silk, a dazzling blur in the eyes of the onlookers.
Soon after, another car—painted in black and red—cleared the second loop.
It was Qin’s car.
Yan Yucheng raised an eyebrow, finally relaxing slightly.
Qin’s teammates were also at ease, even cracking jokes.
A one-lap difference was nothing—Qin could close that gap in no time.
Mr. Qin quickly completed his third lap.
Fourth lap, fifth lap—the distance between them gradually closed.
The team members couldn’t help but grin.
Their boss never let them down.
By the sixth lap, even if they stretched their necks and craned their heads, it was difficult to see what was happening up above.
Not to mention, the sunlight was just right at that moment, glaring into their eyes and blurring their vision.
One of the team members turned and started chatting with Mr. Zhong. “Actually, our boss is pretty easygoing. If you nag him a little, he’ll give someone a ride…”
Mr. Zhong responded absentmindedly, his heart pounding.
Both anxious and inexplicably thrilled.
Meanwhile, on the winding mountain road, Mr. Qin was indeed closing in on Jiang Su. She glanced at the rearview mirror but remained indifferent.
When Mr. Qin’s car closed in from the inside lane, almost brushing past her, Jiang Su didn’t even blink. With practiced ease, she turned the wheel sharply and forced his car toward the mountainside.
Bang.
Screech—
The car didn’t fly off the road, but its tires scraped harshly against the drainage channel on the mountain surface, producing a sharp, grating sound.
Mr. Qin froze for a second.
By the time he recovered, Jiang Su had already swung the wheel again and pulled ahead of him once more.
Someone actually dared to cut him off?!
Mr. Qin slammed the accelerator and roared forward.
His driving skills were impeccable, and with his wealth of experience, he quickly caught up to the girl’s tail.
But instead of panicking, she even had the leisure to extend a hand and curl her fingers at him in a beckoning gesture, as if teasing a dog, urging him to keep chasing.
Mr. Qin’s breath caught, but instead of anger, he laughed. “Alright!”
He had underestimated her!
So, female drivers could be this skilled too!
Mr. Qin pressed the accelerator further, unconcerned that they were now at a dizzying altitude.
With expertise and composure, he maneuvered through the curves, each drift carrying the exhilarating charm of professional racing.
No one knew that this was merely a warm-up before filming the commercial.
He was getting close!
“I’m catching up to you,” Mr. Qin thought, his face alight with excitement. He even started to anticipate her expression when she saw him right behind her.
But just then, he saw her car suddenly swing sideways, cutting across the road in front of him, spinning into a turn to face him directly.
It took him a second to notice the finish line sign put up by the company.
She had already reached the finish line first—and now, she was heading back.
Jiang Su’s expression remained unchanged.
Navigating treacherous roads at high speed—this was a mandatory training exercise for them. If someone couldn’t even escape alive under these conditions, they had no business being an assassin.
She pressed the accelerator again, descending the mountain, brushing past the young man’s car in an instant.
For a moment, Mr. Qin couldn’t describe the feeling in his heart.
He thought he was the one chasing her and passing by her.
But in reality, she had faced him head-on and overtaken him.
He quickly turned his head, catching a fleeting glimpse of her.
Driving—whether a car or a race car—left no room for distraction.
But in that split second, perhaps because his body was in a state of heightened tension, adrenaline surging to its peak, the image etched itself into his mind with absolute clarity.
The girl’s expression was cool, her lips gently pressed together in a relaxed manner. Strands of black hair lifted in the mountain breeze, making her delicate features all the more striking.
Her snow-white wrist formed a sharp contrast against the black steering wheel.
The flowing blue gown enveloped her like a princess, regal and untouchable.
For an instant, as they brushed past each other, he almost had the illusion that her hair grazed his cheek, carrying a faint, lingering fragrance…
She looked so delicate.
Yet, seated in the car, she exuded an air of effortless dominance—a ruler gazing down upon the mountains with indifference.
Mr. Qin’s chest tightened, and for some inexplicable reason, his blood surged with even more excitement.
He quickly turned the wheel and resumed the chase.
The tires gripped the road with powerful friction, the roar of the turbo engine ringing clear in everyone’s ears.
One of the team members grinned. “Mr. Qin is coming back!”
Yan Yucheng’s brow furrowed deeply, his hands clenching into fists.
He only hoped Jiang Su wouldn’t get hurt…
The roaring engines grew closer—closer—
Whoosh!
“Holy—!”
A silver car and a black-and-red car shot down the inclined mountain road, one tightly tailing the other, carrying an unstoppable momentum.
Everyone held their breath.
“She’s in the lead?!”
In that instant, even those who didn’t understand racing could feel the sheer thrill of the competition as they watched the speeding cars streak past, the girl inside exuding both exquisite beauty and an icy composure.
The photographer, momentarily stunned, rushed to lift his camera.
Capture it.
Capture this moment!
Anyone who saw this scene would feel their blood boil!
Jiang Su’s car continued forward without stopping—it soared off the mountain road, suddenly leaping over a five-meter-wide river.
It was the rainy season, and the river raged beneath her.
The silver car glinted under the sunlight, merging seamlessly with the shimmering water below.
At that moment, everyone instinctively held their breath, their mouths slightly open, hearts pounding like war drums, as if about to burst from their chests.
“…Jiang Su!” Yan Yucheng called out in a deep voice.
Beyond the river was a stretch of muddy, undeveloped land.
The tires spun rapidly, and after soaring through the air, the car landed smoothly.
The wheels carved a small indentation in the soft ground.
Beneath the muddy banks, the river continued to rage.
But its voice no longer sounded like a furious roar—
It sounded more like awe.
Awe for the car that had just soared over its waters.
Yan Yucheng’s heart pounded wildly, a deafening roar in his chest.
In that instant, his worry and shock transformed into a numbing sensation that sent shivers down his spine. For a brief moment, it felt like all the blood in his body had ignited.
He wanted to laugh.
How could she be… this insanely good?!
After a moment of stunned silence, everyone scrambled to their cars and rushed to the other side of the river, where Jiang Su had landed.
“Miss Jiang! Are you okay?” they shouted across the river.
Jiang Su took a deep breath.
That felt good.
She quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out of the car.
It took them about ten minutes to reach her.
The girl stood tall, her skin pale as snow, still exuding that delicate, melancholic air—aloof and distant, unwilling to engage with others.
Yet, as they looked at her face, their hearts were still racing, the adrenaline refusing to fade. The way they looked at her had completely changed.
They drove Jiang Su back to the starting point.
Mr. Zhong immediately stepped forward. “Miss Jiang, do you need a massage for your arms?” His eyes were practically shining.
He had never been the type to underestimate women. He was an old-fashioned man who still held onto the belief that “women hold up half the sky,” a saying from a great leader.
Incredible!
Mr. Zhong kept repeating the thought in his mind.
He felt that for a young woman to handle a car like that was beyond words—truly, astonishing!
Jiang Su shook her head.
On the other side, Mr. Qin walked toward her. His eyes held a mix of emotions—some complexity, but mostly excitement and awe.
He stared at her intently, as if trying to etch her image into his memory.
“You won,” he said.
He couldn’t do what she had done—he couldn’t leap across the river.
Mr. Zhong chuckled. “This wasn’t a race. We were just filming a commercial.”
“Right.” Mr. Qin nodded without hesitation. “But she still won. That’s something that needs to be said… What’s next for the shoot? Just tell me.”
“Still the same,” Jiang Su answered simply. “You chase me.”
This time, Mr. Qin didn’t find her words strange. In fact, his heartbeat actually picked up speed.
“Alright!” he agreed.
The cameramen quickly set up multiple angles.
Mr. Zhong wasn’t stingy with his budget—everything was arranged the same day.
After a short break, Jiang Su and Mr. Qin dived straight into the official shoot.
Mr. Qin didn’t object to anything.
Once again, Jiang Su drove down the mountain road, soaring over the river. The silver car, gleaming in the sunlight, looked like the brightest star, burning itself into everyone’s eyes.
“Perfect! One take!” the crew shouted excitedly.
Jiang Su’s shoot was done.
Mr. Zhong immediately had someone take the footage back for editing. But instead of leaving, he lowered his voice and said, “The 920,000 we initially offered Miss Jiang was too low. For the three months following the ad’s release, I’m willing to offer a 15% revenue share… If Miss Jiang has any other requests, feel free to discuss them with your agent, and we’ll sign an updated contract.”
A fleeting glimmer flashed across Jiang Su’s usually indifferent eyes.
Mr. Qin couldn’t help but walk over. “Are you a model?”
Mr. Zhong chuckled. “No. Mr. Qin, you don’t seem like someone who follows celebrities. Miss Jiang is a rising star from a recent talent show.”
Mr. Qin was even more surprised. “A talent show? An entertainer?… And you’re this good?”
She had an air of absolute indifference—almost a disregard for life itself. That kind of presence wasn’t something she put on; it was ingrained in her bones, subtle yet breathtaking when it emerged.
Jiang Su tilted her head. “Good?”
She paused for a moment, then said flatly, “Maybe because… some people race for competition. Others race for survival.”
Mr. Qin: “Huh?”
He didn’t fully understand her words, but that didn’t stop him from handing her his business card.
Jiang Su got into the car for the ride back.
Mr. Qin unconsciously watched her for a while longer.
Meanwhile, the brand’s official Weibo quickly updated.
@Wudang Racing: “Miss Jiang Su’s commercial shoot was completed in one take and will be released this Sunday. Stay tuned!”
