Chapter 53 : Let’s talk it all out

When Wang Chunxiang saw Jiang Fengqin’s embarrassed expression, she couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh. She had lived in this family compound for more than ten years, and when had she ever seen this difficult household make such a fool of themselves?  

To put it bluntly, it was truly satisfying!  

But she quickly hid her smile and pretended to offer earnest advice “Yes, you said the child is just a teenager and didn’t do it on purpose. Yet you keep calling him a thief and accusing him of stealing. Isn’t your thinking too vicious?”  

“You’re trying to ruin his life. How could I, as a mother, tolerate this? If it were me, stuffing your mouth with mud would be the least of my worries! If there were a manure pit nearby, I bet she’d have dumped manure all over you!”  

As she spoke, she didn’t forget to wink at Song Shiwei, who was sitting opposite her.  

Song Shiwei had been somewhat annoyed at first, but now she was amused by these sisters-in-law.   

However, what they said was true. Many people who had been watching also felt that Jiang Fengqin was going too far. The child wasn’t the type to deny things. He had even explained that he didn’t know it belonged to their family. Many people had seen the broken half of the wheel apparently, her husband had picked it up from somewhere.  

Plenty of people had seen it. It was so old and tattered that it probably wouldn’t even fetch much if sold as scrap.  

The child had simply mistaken it for discarded junk and picked it up. How could she call him a thief?  

If he were labeled a thief at such a young age, how would he ever live it down?  

Just think about it, if someone treated her own child this way, she would never allow it.  

So, just as Wang Chunxiang had said, it wasn’t a big deal at all for Song Shiwei to stuff her mouth with mud!  

She had no filter and spoke recklessly, without considering the consequences. If she ended up ruining a child’s future, that would be truly heartless!  

So, one after another, people chimed in:  

“Yes, Fengqin, you really shouldn’t say that. If someone who doesn’t know the situation overhears, won’t the child’s reputation be ruined?”

“Fengqin…”  

After Jiang Fengqin spat out the mud from her mouth, she heard everyone talking about her.  

She felt so wronged! It was her family that had lost something, she was the victim here!  

Wasn’t it obvious that everyone was siding against her?  

Regardless, she didn’t think she was wrong, and the more she listened, the angrier she became!  

So, she simply slapped her thigh, collapsed to the ground, and started wailing.  

“Oh my god!!”  

Her voice stretched out dramatically.  

Song Shiwei suddenly wanted to add, “And the broken shoes are showing toes~”  

But luckily, she managed to hold it back.  

After the dramatic shout, Jiang Fengqin began to sob hysterically.  

“Is there no justice in this world? The bullied have nowhere to survive~ Why is my life so miserable!!!”  

“Oh, heaven! Oh, earth! You are bullying the weak!!!”

Alright! Here she goes again with her performance!  

Some people still paid attention to her antics, but Song Shiwei didn’t.  

She turned around and took Zhou Cheng away.  

Once inside, she asked Zhou Cheng, “Where’s the thing you picked up?”  

A few little kids inside had been watching from the window for a while, and Zhou Lin couldn’t help but worry about his brother.

Hearing Song Shiwei’s question, Zhou Lin couldn’t help but swallow nervously and glanced at Zhou Cheng.  

But Zhou Cheng just pressed his lips together and remained silent.  

Song Shiwei frowned.  

She pulled a stool over and sat down.  

“What’s going on? Tell me the truth!”  

Outside, Jiang Fengqin was still wailing loudly.  

Song Shiwei had to be sure whether Zhou Cheng had actually stolen something or had just picked it up.  

Just now, she had to stand up for him in front of everyone.  

But now, behind closed doors, she needed to get to the bottom of it, this was about the child’s future.  

Thinking about how he would later end up in prison for fraud and smuggling, her heart ached.  

Over time, she had developed feelings for these children.  

Especially when she was sick, the way they had taken care of her and changed for the better had given her great comfort.  

Now that Zhou Cheng and Zhou Lin were improving step by step, she absolutely couldn’t let Zhou Cheng take a wrong turn at this moment!  

But no one knew what was wrong with Zhou Cheng. No matter how much she pressed him, he just bit his lip and refused to say a word.

At that moment, someone had apparently run to the team and called Zhou Tingyue. As soon as he heard what was happening, he immediately went to request leave from the political commissar.  

Political Commissar Liu happened to be free at that moment. When he heard that Jiang Fengqin had come to Zhou Tingyue house causing trouble and was accusing his eldest son of theft, he decided to go along as well.

“Shut up!” the orderly shouted.

Seeing that it was just a low-ranking orderly, she didn’t take him seriously. She was about to stand up, put her hands on her hips, and start yelling again. But when she turned around and saw Zhou Tingyue and Political Commissar Liu standing behind her, she instantly deflated.  

The orderly relayed Political Commissar Liu’s words to her.  

Jiang Fengqin was extremely dissatisfied.  

“Political Commissar, you’re a big leader how can you not distinguish right from wrong? Are you seriously confusing black and white? It’s clearly their family bullying us, so why are you punishing my husband?”  

Zhou Tingyue shot her a fierce glare and, without a word, stormed into the house like a gust of wind.  

Political Commissar Liu glanced at the room and then turned to Jiang Fengqin, speaking seriously, “I’m punishing him because of you. Do you think it’s appropriate to stand at someone’s door cursing them like this? I have to question Old Sun’s discipline and work ethic…”  

Hearing this, Jiang Fengqin hurriedly waved her hands.  

“No, no, no, Political Commissar, you misunderstood! Our Old Sun has excellent discipline. If you want to say that I have no class, then fine, say that I have no class but what does this have to do with Old  Sun? I’m me, and he’s him. We’re husband and wife, but we’re not conjoined twins! I admit I’m uneducated, you can’t expect me to suddenly become a refined person!”  

Political Commissar Liu knew she was always like this, she would shamelessly admit to being uneducated to avoid discussing any higher principles.  

As the saying goes, even the fairest judge can’t settle a family dispute.  

He could only sigh and shake his head with a bitter smile.  

“Alright, stop crying and cursing. I’ll call out the Tingyue family, and we’ll all sit down to sort things out. We’ll go over everything clearly, and no one will be wronged or falsely accused. Sound fair?”
