The next day, the last day of the holiday.
In the morning, visitors came to see Mr. and Mrs. Lu, while Xu Entang ate breakfast in her room.
Although Mr. Lu had retired, many people still visited Fuyuan during the holiday.
The license plates of the cars parked outside Fuyuan were all extraordinary.
Mr. Lu preferred quiet and rarely saw them.
This kept Aunt Zhou busy, having to send these people away.
At noon, Xu Entang went to the dining room for lunch.
As soon as she sat down, Lu Jin came and sat beside her, looking weary, with a low-pressure atmosphere lingering between his brows after waking up.
Mrs. Lu asked, “What time did you come back last night?”
Lu Jin: “A little after eleven.”
Mrs. Lu: “Did you have a good time?”
Lu Jin: “It was fine.”
After lunch, Xu Entang accompanied Mrs. Lu for a walk to help with digestion.
Lu Jin listlessly teased the turtle that Mr. Lu had got last week.
It was an albino narrow-bridged turtle, its entire body, including its shell, was golden yellow, and its eyes were red, very rare.
Seeing Lu Jin flip the turtle over several times, Mr. Lu frowned and said displeasedly, “If you’re idle, go play something else, don’t tease it! Be careful it bites you when it grows up.”
Mrs. Lu, who was walking, looked over there because of Mr. Lu’s voice.
She asked Xu Entang, “Tangtang, did anything happen last night on A Jin’s birthday?”
Xu Entang remembered meeting Lu Shengtao last night.
She knew why the old lady suddenly asked this.
Lu Jin liked to stay in Fuyuan when he was in a bad mood, and it was the same in her past life.
She shook her head and replied, “Nothing.”
After walking for a while, Mrs. Lu went to rest.
Xu Entang also planned to go back to her room to rest for a while, then do some exercises.
On her way back, she met Lu Jin.
Lu Jin leaned against a dark red pillar in the corridor, his gaze lightly falling on her.
As she passed by, he lifted his eyelids and stopped her.
Xu Entang stopped.
Lu Jin: “Did Grandma ask you anything just now?”
Xu Entang: “Didn’t you already guess?”
As if surprised by her answer, Lu Jin paused slightly.
He asked softly, “What did you say?”
Xu Entang: “I don’t know anything.”
Lu Jin stayed at Fuyuan the whole of the 7th.
School started on the 8th, and Xu Entang went to school with him.
Having just experienced a seven-day holiday, everyone looked reluctant to start school.
Before morning reading began, the classroom was either filled with sighs or students catching up on homework.
There was also a big event on the first day of school after National Day.
The monthly exam results were out.
Lin Jiayu was very happy after receiving her report card.
Last semester’s final exam, she performed exceptionally well and barely made it into Class 2.
This month’s exam, she actually improved quite a bit compared to last semester’s final exam, especially in math, she did well.
“Ahhhh, my hanging heart has finally settled down. Wishing on Tan Jili really works! Great god bless!”
When exam results come out, some people are happy and some are sad.
Xue Ang, sitting in front of them, looked at his not-so-ideal results this time and turned around to ask, “Does it really work?”
Lin Jiayu: “I think it works!”
Xue Ang secretly planned to play basketball with Tan Jili before the mid-term exam to rub off some good luck.
Lin Jiayu said to Xu Entang, who was looking at her report card, “Xu Entang, your English is tied for first place with the class representative, you’re amazing.”
Xu Entang…
Having lived in the US for a few years in her past life, English was not difficult for her.
She did fairly well in Chinese and math this time.
But the other three minor subjects weren’t so good.
Two were barely passing, and biology didn’t even pass.
This was within Xu Entang’s expectations.
She hadn’t touched high school knowledge for a long time and had almost forgotten everything.
In just one month, she didn’t have time to spend on every subject, so she focused on math and Chinese first.
In Class 2, an experimental class like this, failing grades were rare, especially for someone like Xu Entang who failed all three minor subjects.
At noon, she was called to the office.
Class 2’s homeroom teacher, Ms. Wu, was a woman in her forties who taught English.
Ms. Wu first praised her.
“Xu Entang, you did very well in English this time, keep it up.”
Xu Entang: “Yes, teacher.”
“Your math and Chinese are also okay, but physics, chemistry, and biology—they’re quite a bit off.”
Ms. Wu sighed, “Your math is okay, your science shouldn’t be bad.”
“And I looked at your grades from your previous school, they’ve always been good, and all subjects were relatively balanced, otherwise you wouldn’t be in the science class. Are you having trouble adjusting to the new environment?”
Xu Entang used the same excuse herself.
“Teacher, I did have some trouble adjusting when I first came.”
Ms. Wu: “Tell the teacher if you have any difficulties.”
Xu Entang nodded, “I’ve been adapting slowly. Teacher, don’t worry, I’ll work hard on these three subjects.”
Ms. Wu liked this quiet little girl.
“Okay, the teacher believes in you. Go back and have a rest.”
The whole day was basically spent reviewing the test papers.
Xu Entang became the focus of the physics, chemistry, and biology teachers.
She had always been a good student when she was studying before, this was a treatment she hadn’t had before.
In the evening after school, Xu Entang said goodbye to Lin Jiayu at the school gate and walked towards the car parked by the roadside.
Opening the car door, she saw Lu Jin sitting inside playing with his phone.
She remembered that around this time in her past life, Lu Jin had stayed at Fuyuan for a while.
At that time, she didn’t know why he came to stay at Fuyuan, she was just overjoyed to see him more.
Lu Jin: “Why are you only coming out now?”
It seemed he was going back to Fuyuan today.
Xu Entang: “I was talking to a classmate.”
On the way back, they each looked at their phones.
The road was a little congested at this time, especially near No.1 Middle School.
The car was moving very slowly.
Lu Jin casually opened a message, glanced at the numbers.
“Is your subject imbalance a bit excessive?”
Xu Entang took a few seconds to realize he was talking to her.
“…How did you know?”
“When I went to ask for leave for you last time, your teacher said to leave a number for easy contact.”
Lu Jin casually left his number, and unexpectedly received Xu Entang’s monthly exam results today.
Xu Entang didn’t know what to say.
“Can I see the message?”
Lu Jin handed her his phone.
The phone screen showed the message interface.
Ms. Wu probably knew about Xu Entang’s living situation, so she asked for a contact method.
She thought it was some adult’s number, sending a message saying that Xu Entang’s subject imbalance should be taken seriously.
Who knew it was Lu Jin’s.
Xu Entang: …
Back at Fuyuan for dinner, Mrs. Lu asked about the monthly exam.
Xu Entang truthfully told her the results.
Mrs. Lu: “Your English is so good.”
Xu Entang: “But I didn’t do well in physics, chemistry, and biology.”
Mrs. Lu: “It’s okay, there’s always next time.”
Xu Entang nodded, “I’ll work hard.”
Mrs. Lu: “We believe in you.”
Mr. Lu: “Doesn’t Lu Jin also have elective physics and such? Ask him if you don’t understand. If he doesn’t understand, ask the Tan family boy.”
Lu Jin, who hadn’t spoken, raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile, “If I don’t understand, Tan Jili will?”
Mr. Lu snorted, “Then it’s best if you understand.”
After dinner, after sitting with Mr. and Mrs. Lu for a while, Xu Entang and Lu Jin went back to their respective rooms.
Xu Entang still had a lot of homework to do.
The two walked one after the other in the corridor.
Xu Entang thought for a moment and stopped Lu Jin, who was ahead.
“Lu Jin.”
Lu Jin stopped and turned around, still holding his phone.
Xu Entang quickly walked over.
“Lu Jin?” Lu Jin turned off his phone screen, his brows lowered as he watched her approach.
Xu Entang was puzzled.
Was there a problem?
Lu Jin slowly said, “You call Tan Jili ‘Second Brother,’ but you call me ‘Lu Jin’?”
Xu Entang’s eyelashes trembled.
She hadn’t realized that calling Tan Jili Second Brother was overheard last time.
“He’s older than me.”
Lu Jin chuckled, “So that’s how it is.”
“So, little sister, I’m older than you too, why haven’t I heard you call me brother?”
