Chapter 2: Not Having an Abortion
The two of them paused, simultaneously looking towards the source of the sound—Jiang Yuman’s belly.
Jiang Yuman awkwardly touched her growling belly; it wasn’t really her fault.
The original owner had been fasting and causing a scene, so it was strange that she wouldn’t feel hungry, right?
Thinking of this, she confidently looked up at Fu Jingchen and asked, “I’m hungry, is there anything to eat at home?”
Before Fu Jingchen could respond, a knocking sound came from the door, accompanied by a subtle sobbing: “Manman, Jingchen, are you up? The food is ready.”
Jiang Yuman breathed a sigh of relief; just like in the book, Fu’s mother was just about to come and call them to eat.
The difference was that she didn’t say anything heart-wrenching like the original owner did.
“Mom, why are you still urging her to eat? Didn’t she say she was going to fast? Let her starve! After the recent incident at home, she is in such a rush to disassociate from us, she’s even willing to abandon the child in her belly!”
At that moment, another voice suddenly came from outside the door.
“Haitang, don’t say that.”
“I didn’t say anything wrong! I was deceived by her back then, allowing a white-eyed wolf to come into our family!”
Fu Haitang said angrily, “That vixen! She schemed to marry my brother, and now, so little time has passed, and her true colors are showing!”
The thick door panels couldn’t block the sounds from outside; every word was clearly transmitted into the ears of the two inside.
Jiang Yuman glanced at Fu Jingchen, only to find that he was also observing her.
She immediately squeezed out a smile for him, her heart filled with infinite desolation; this was all the debt left by the original owner…
But it didn’t matter!
Since she had come, she was confident that she could turn things around in this situation.
“Well, since you’re hungry, let’s go downstairs to eat.” Fu Jingchen’s gaze shifted from her charming face, and he said in a low voice.
“Okay.”
When they left the room, the two people outside had already walked away.
It seemed that Fu’s mother was afraid she would overhear and had taken her daughter downstairs early.
The two of them walked downstairs.
Even though Fu Jingchen felt strange, he still walked beside Jiang Yuman, protecting her to prevent her from falling.
As Jiang Yuman descended the stairs, she glanced around her surroundings.
The Fu family’s house was a beautifully decorated, exquisite duplex villa, unfortunately, in just a few days, it would be taken over by the government.
It wouldn’t be until two years later that it would return to its rightful owner.
Once downstairs, they entered the living room.
At the large round table next to the staircase sat the whole Fu family.
Seated next to her was Fu Wangshan, her father-in-law, who held a military position but was currently suspended for investigation. Beside him sat a gentle and gracious middle-aged woman—Fu’s mother.
Next to Fu’s mother, the girl glaring at Jiang Yuman was Fu Haitang, the younger sister who had spoken earlier at the door.
As Jiang Yuman approached, Fu Haitang snorted and slammed her rice bowl down on the table.
“If you want to eat, serve yourself!”
Jiang Yuman had no good feelings toward this former sister-in-law.
Before, she had used her entry into the Fu family to deceive her brother, and now that she had gotten what she wanted, she didn’t cherish it.
As soon as the family had made a scene, she couldn’t wait to divorce and abort! Her desire for wealth and materialism was thoroughly exposed.
Thinking about how the gift she had prepared for her unborn nephew would go to waste, her eyes turned sore.
“Haitang, how can you speak to your sister-in-law like that?” Fu’s mother scolded.
While she indeed had complaints against Jiang Yuman, she had just heard outside the door that Jiang was willing to keep her grandson!
No matter how fiercely the family had argued before, Fu’s mother felt quite grateful that Jiang Yuman was willing to concede on this issue.
She quickly stood up, serving a bowl of porridge in front of Jiang Yuman. “Manman, you’re hungry, right? Eat up.”
The food on the table was very light and simple, all made by Fu’s mother herself.
After the incident, the family’s housekeeper had been dismissed; she had to do everything herself.
“Thank you, Mom,” Jiang Yuman said with some gratitude.
As soon as she said this, everyone at the table turned to her with surprised expressions.
Ever since the incident at home began, Jiang Yuman had not only turned the house upside down but had also stopped wanting to call her parents.
Every day she was causing a scene, demanding a divorce and threatening to starve herself, never giving a moment of peace.
And now, she actually said “Mom!”
Wasn’t that the sun rising in the west?
For a moment, everyone was dumbfounded, even Fu Haitang, who was as fierce as a fighting chicken, was momentarily speechless.
Fu Jingchen, however, was looking at Jiang Yuman with a complex gaze.
He realized he really didn’t understand her enough.
Clearly, she had been desperate for divorce last night, yet today she seemed like a completely different person.
Not only was she behaving normally, but she was even willing to call “Mom.” It was hard not to think she had ulterior motives.
After drinking two mouthfuls of porridge, Jiang Yuman noticed that everyone at the table had not moved and looked up at their reactions, feeling a bit awkward.
Oh Lord, this was all the original owner’s doing…
“Jiang Yuman, are you hiding some bad intention again?” In the end, it was still Fu Haitang who coldly questioned.
It wasn’t that she was suspecting Jiang Yuman of having malicious intentions; it was truly because this woman was too detestable and too good at climbing the social ladder!
The previous relationship had just been a facade for her to marry her brother; every time she thought about it, she felt like she had invited a wolf into her house.
Something unusual is bound to have something strange behind it; this time, Jiang Yuman must also be planning something bad.
Bang!
Fu’s mother slapped the table hard, her previously gentle face suddenly filled with anger, “Haitang, what are you talking about?”
“Mom, did I say anything wrong?”
Fu Haitang gripped her neck defiantly: “If she hadn’t acted so well back then, how would my brother have married her?”
“A tiger doesn’t eat its own cubs! Yet she is willing to abandon her own flesh and blood; now that she’s acting out of the ordinary, who knows what she’s hiding? Don’t let her deceive you!”
“Fu Haitang!” Even Fu Wangshan, usually restrained, spoke up unpleased.
Fu’s mother was even more fiercely angry, uncharacteristically raising her voice, “If you keep talking like this, I swear I will…”
“Mom.”
Before she could finish her sentence, Jiang Yuman interrupted, “You shouldn’t be so harsh on my little sister; she’s still young.”
She didn’t want the family to argue over this matter, quickly interrupting before Fu’s mother could say something severe.
This issue definitely arose from the original owner being too harsh.
In the book, the original owner had indeed made Fu Haitang’s life miserable. Just when Fu Haitang began to see her in a favorable light because of the impending birth of her nephew, the situation of an abortion arose.
Even Fu’s mother had fallen ill due to the distress caused by the original owner, quickly passing away.
This little girl really had bad luck getting entangled with the original owner.
“Don’t think that just because you’re pretending to help me, I will be bribed!”
Fu Haitang wasn’t buying it at all, glaring at Jiang Yuman, “A person who doesn’t want their own child!”
“Haitang, Dad, Mom, I know you all have many misunderstandings about me.”
Jiang Yuman touched her belly, sighed, “I want this child. I won’t have an abortion. What I said earlier was just out of anger.”
Though this statement was a lie to the original owner, it was the truth for her and could not be more sincere.
Since she was here, she would live as Jiang Yuman and was determined to have a good life with Fu Jingchen.
After this declaration, the dining table once again fell into silence.
After a while, Fu Wangshan’s lips trembled, “Daughter, are, are you serious?”
He was a highly respected person, and it was rare for him to show such a loss of composure.
But now, just because Jiang Yuman said she wouldn’t abort the child, it seemed to peel away the facade of Commander Fu, transforming him into an ordinary grandfather.
He seldom interfered in his children’s marital affairs.
However, the future grandchildren were the only hope left in this currently bleak household.
Before, the whole family had advised him, but he had also been scolded by his daughter-in-law.
Fu Wangshan felt heartbroken but also realized he couldn’t persuade his daughter-in-law to keep the grandchild.
Little did he expect that now a glimmer of hope had emerged!
He almost doubted whether he had heard correctly.
Others, including Fu Haitang, were also staring at Jiang Yuman, waiting for her response.
