Chapter 21: Today Is a Good Day

Xia Ruanruan actually wanted to move out, but she had no place to go.

Now that Huo Beiqing had brought it up, it was exactly what she wanted. “Sure, sure!” She nodded enthusiastically like a little pecking chick.

Although her in-laws treated her well, her sister-in-law, Huo Yuanyuan, was openly hostile toward her.

Besides, she wanted to sell cassette tapes under the bridge, which would be inconvenient if she stayed at the Huo family home.

But moving out would make things much easier.

“Beiqing said to meet him at the hospital.”

Once upstairs, she started humming happily.

She was moving out! Moving out! Soon, she would be the ruler of her own space!

She didn’t have much to pack—she wrapped all her clothes in a floral cloth bundle.

Lin Wei had also prepared another bundle for her.

As she saw Xia Ruanruan, she explained what was inside.

“Ruanruan, this one has dumplings that I asked Aunt Chen to make this afternoon. Eat them with Beiqing at the hospital.”

The other bundle, wrapped in a large towel, made Lin Wei look a little embarrassed. “This one contains a medicine pot. When you get there, take it out and brew some medicine for Beiqing in the evening.”

Only then did Huo Yuanyuan notice the things in Xia Ruanruan’s hands and asked irritably, “Where is she going?”

Even though her tone was unpleasant, since she had asked, Xia Ruanruan still answered with a bright smile, “Your brother is quite busy these days and won’t be coming home, so I’m moving out too.”

After saying that, she noticed Huo Yuanyuan staring at Xia Ruanruan’s departing figure, looking unhappy and dissatisfied.

“And look at you, always looking so displeased. Who are you making that face at?”

Huo Yuanyuan: What did she do to deserve this?

She touched her face, feeling utterly wronged. “Mom…”

Lin Wei turned back into the house. “Oh, I wouldn’t dare accept such a respectful ‘Mom’ from our little princess.”

She didn’t dare argue back and followed Lin Wei inside, feeling utterly dejected.

Meanwhile, Xia Ruanruan was like a cheerful little bird, happily making her way to the hospital.

She was already very familiar with Huo Beiqing’s office.

When she arrived, he wasn’t there.

Worried that the dumplings in the lunchbox might get cold, she hugged them tightly.
