“The engagement with the Ye family was arranged by Guoxiong over ten years ago. A person must keep their word.”
Shen Yun stated this as a fact.
Ever since Li Guoxiong agreed to the engagement, she had heard all sorts of opinions. Some were genuinely concerned for the Li family, while others had ulterior motives.
She had listened to all of them, but in the end, she understood that this was not something she could change.
“That’s true, but you should also consider Li Cheng’s feelings. How could he possibly be interested in a girl like Ye Yao? Forcing them into an arranged marriage is essentially ruining his life!”
“Besides, Ye Yao was the one who first engaged in such disgraceful behavior…”
Wang Guihua, seeing that Shen Yun seemed indifferent, became more agitated and indignant.
Shen Yun simply watched her quietly, listening.
“So, what are you suggesting?”
Wang Guihua’s eyes immediately lit up. These educated people always cared too much about appearances. Even though they already knew what should be done, they still wanted her to be the one to spell it out.
“Obviously, they should call off the engagement! Marrying such a daughter-in-law would be a disgrace to the Li family!”
Shen Yun listened to her words, deep in thought.
Wang Guihua was about to continue when Li Cuilan, standing beside her, gently nudged her.
Others might not understand Shen Yun, but she did.
That woman was not someone who could be easily persuaded. It was best to stop while they were ahead.
“Sister-in-law, we’re just giving our opinion. Ultimately, it’s up to you and Brother to decide.”
Shen Yun nodded, her tone as composed as ever. “Yes, I will.”
As they walked out of the Li household, Li Cuilan sighed in relief.
Although she and Shen Yun were both part of the Li family, their relationship had always been polite yet distant. It was the first time she had ever done something like this.
“Cuilan, why did you stop me just now? We were only trying to help Li Cheng!”
Wang Guihua frowned, feeling that Shen Yun didn’t seem too concerned about Ye Yao’s disgraceful behavior.
“Enough. We’ve said what we needed to. After all, it’s their family’s business.”
Li Cuilan had lost all enthusiasm. Since morning, they had been worrying over someone else’s problem like it was their own.
They had gotten nowhere with Ye Yao, and now, they hadn’t convinced their sister-in-law either.
Wang Guihua wanted to say more, but Li Cuilan had already turned and left, leaving her fuming.
“I swear, these Li family members just don’t know what’s good for them…”

Zhao Qingqing was visibly upset.
She had thought that with all the gossip spreading in the courtyard, the Li family would react strongly. But her mother had returned empty-handed.
Could that fat girl really get her way?!
Frustrated by the thought, she kicked a stone hard, sending it flying in a long arc.
Just then, at the entrance of the alley, a plump figure appeared, making her pause.
She had just been thinking about that fat girl, and now she had shown up!
Something wasn’t right. Normally, Ye Yao would avoid her at all costs. Why was she approaching on her own today?
Was she coming to show off?!
Ye Yao also saw her and immediately shivered, looking uneasy…
