Chapter 53
“Hey, I’m talking to you! Hurry up and leave!”
The young apprentice glanced at Ye Yao impatiently, shooing her away.
If it were any other day, Ye Yao wouldn’t have bothered with someone like this, but after walking around for so long in the heat, her patience had worn thin.
“Is this how you talk to customers? Is this how you run a business?”
When it came to confidence, few could match her when she was serious.
Sure enough, the apprentice was stunned for a moment. He had dealt with plenty of poorly dressed people like her before—usually, after a few harsh words, they would leave with their tails between their legs. But this woman…
“Our store’s clothes are too expensive for you!”
He sneered after regaining his composure.
Just look at her—wearing ill-fitting clothes, sleeves patched up, pants that were so old it was unclear how many years they had been worn. People like her probably had emptier pockets than their faces.
But instead of leaving, Ye Yao straightened her back, took firm strides, and walked right past him.
The apprentice froze for a moment—she actually had the nerve to go inside?!
Ye Yao stepped into the shop, confidently glancing around.
The ready-made clothes on the racks were neatly arranged, and the counter displayed various colored fabrics.
There was a designated area for customers to rest and another for the tailors to take measurements and record orders.
Unlike ordinary clothing stores, this place clearly catered to a more upscale clientele.
“Who is that? Did she walk into the wrong place?”
She had barely taken a few steps before whispers started spreading around her.
“Sister Fatty, we still need to do business here. I admit I spoke rudely before, and I apologize. But can you please leave?”
The apprentice looked miserable, nearly reaching out to push her.
If the master saw that he had let someone like her into the store, he would definitely get scolded to death.
Ye Yao’s face remained expressionless. Did they really see her as some kind of plague?
“I told you, I’m here to get clothes made.”
She had money in her pocket, after all. It was about time she got herself some well-fitting clothes.
“But our store is very expensive. How about this—I’ll recommend a place for you. If you exit and turn left, walk about fifty meters, you’ll find a clothing shop with lots of styles and reasonable prices. You should check it out instead.”
The apprentice forced himself to hold back his irritation, trying to “negotiate” with her.
“Is this really how you do business? Where’s the boss? Get the boss out here!”
Ye Yao raised her voice, refusing to back down.
All around her, people turned to stare, their faces filled with amused ridicule.
Just then, footsteps sounded from the stairs.
“What’s all this commotion?”
The apprentice shuddered at the voice.
Oh no… He had disturbed the master.
Ye Yao looked in the direction of the voice.
A man in his forties came into view, dressed in a suit with black-framed glasses resting on his nose, exuding authority.
Beside him stood a well-groomed woman in her thirties.
Her elegant qipao fit her curves perfectly, making her stand out effortlessly.
Ye Yao clicked her tongue inwardly—this kind of woman would be the center of attention no matter where she went.
“M-Master…”
The apprentice lowered his head so much it nearly touched his chest, not daring to breathe too loudly.
The man’s sharp gaze landed directly on Ye Yao.
From what he had overheard, it seemed that this plump girl was causing trouble.
But Ye Yao met his gaze without hesitation.
After all, everyone had the same two shoulders supporting a single head.
Who was really more noble than whom?
