Chapter 64
Ye Yao suddenly woke up. Although she was still groggy, she had regained consciousness.
Forcing herself to stand up, she walked to the door, only to find that it wouldn’t open again.
How could this be?
Yesterday, it was the men’s restroom, but now she was in the women’s restroom.
Or… was it that she simply didn’t know how to open the door?
“Open the door… Is anyone out there?”
Due to her exhaustion, she barely had the strength to call out.
“Open the door…”
A few minutes later, she collapsed by the door again.
Was she really going to die here? That would be such an unfair way to go!
Her consciousness drifted further and further away…
It felt like a dream. Suddenly, the door she was leaning against opened, and she fell straight out—right into the sight of a tense-looking face…
—
“Liu Jie, how is she?”
“Her fever has gone down. With such severe external injuries, and since they weren’t treated in time or properly, inflammation was inevitable, leading to the fever. Is she your student?”
“She… I’ll make sure to remind her to take care of her wounds.”
Ye Yao vaguely heard two people talking. She… wasn’t dead?
She struggled with all her might and finally managed to open her eyes again.
The first thing she saw was an IV drip, making her momentarily freeze.
A hospital?!
She tried to sit up but gasped in pain.
“Don’t move.”
At that moment, a woman’s face entered Ye Yao’s vision.
She regained some clarity and realized that this wasn’t a hospital but seemed to be a medical office.
“It’s good that you’re awake. I’ve already bandaged your right arm. If you don’t want to end up disabled, try not to use it until it fully heals.”
Although the woman’s words were a bit harsh, they were clearly for her own good.
“Where… am I?”
Ye Yao looked at the woman gratefully. She didn’t need to ask to know that this person had saved her.
“The school infirmary.”
“Thank you, doctor.”
Ye Yao obediently expressed her gratitude, completely unaware that someone else was standing behind the curtain.
“Don’t thank me. Thank Professor Li. I’ll leave you to rest for now.”
As Ye Yao watched the woman walk away, she suddenly froze.
What Professor Li?
That damned Professor Li?!
Memories of the last thing she saw before passing out suddenly surfaced in her mind.
That face… Li Cheng!!
So it wasn’t a hallucination or a dream—it was real!
“Why is it him again?! Nothing good ever happens when I run into him! That weirdo—what was he doing near the women’s restroom?! He’s a walking disaster! Did the heavens send him specifically to torment me?!”
Ye Yao couldn’t help but wail in misery.
Meanwhile, the figure behind the curtain silently stepped away.
—
“Liu Jie, please prepare some fever-reducing and anti-inflammatory medicine for her. Otherwise, she definitely won’t go to the hospital.”
Before leaving, Li Cheng made sure to give instructions to the infirmary nurse, Liu Jie.
After yesterday’s “experience,” he was certain of this.
“She’s your student. Of course, I’ll take care of her. Don’t worry.”
Li Cheng didn’t bother to correct Liu Jie’s misunderstanding and simply turned to leave.
Recalling the mop wedged against the women’s restroom door when he found Ye Yao, his eyes darkened.
Clearly, someone had deliberately locked her inside.
But she had only been working as a helper for two days. Who could she have offended already?
And to think he had saved her twice now—yet not only did she not thank him, she even called him a weirdo and a walking disaster?!
A walking disaster?!!
Fine! From now on, he would never meddle in her business again!
