Chapter 70
Twenty minutes later, Ye Yao walked out of the shop, carrying a set of sportswear and with a full 1,000 yuan in her pocket.
“Boss Cai, I wish you great business success in the future.”
Although Cai Qingyuan got what he wanted, he still felt a slight sting. Before this chubby girl walked into his shop, he would have never imagined that she could actually make money off of him.
“I certainly will!”
He had confidence in his own judgment.
“If you need anything in the future, just come by. I’ll give you a 20% discount.”
Cai Qingyuan made small talk. After all, they had interacted now.
Ye Yao beamed, her eyes narrowing into slits.
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely come back.”
Watching her expression, Cai Qingyuan felt that something seemed off.
Soon, Ye Yao’s figure disappeared from his sight.
Putting aside his thoughts, now that he had the sportswear design in hand, it was time to start production and put them up for sale.

Ye Yao was in a great mood. With the clothes in her left hand, she headed straight to the supply and marketing cooperative.
Now that she had money, it was time to buy the things she needed.
Shoes, socks, underwear, underpants, short sleeves, long sleeves—whatever she saw, she bought.
Of course, she bought everything in pairs—one for herself and one for her mother.
Before long, both of her hands were filled with shopping bags.
Since her right arm injury hadn’t fully healed, she stopped before overdoing it.
After all, she had plenty of time to shop in the future.
“Oh my, Ye Yao, why did you buy so much all at once? What did you get?”
As soon as she entered the courtyard, she was surrounded by a group of gossiping women.
Each of them craned their necks, curiously peering into her bags.
“Not much, just some clothes.”
Ye Yao answered truthfully. These people used to avoid her like the plague, but now their attitudes had completely flipped.
“That must have cost a fortune!”
Just looking at the bags made them envious.
“Not too much. Aunties, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back. My mom is waiting for me at home.”
Ye Yao was well aware that within the hour, news of her shopping spree would spread throughout the entire courtyard.
But she didn’t care. In fact, her family’s days would only get better from here on out.
Sure enough, as soon as she left, the women began chattering.
Their mother-daughter pair barely survived on Zhang Qiufeng’s odd jobs, struggling to put food on the table. So how did the chubby girl suddenly have so much money to splurge?
“Stop guessing, I know the answer.”
“You do? Spill it!”
“It must be from the Li family. After all, Ye Yao is now their future daughter-in-law. They wouldn’t want her to look too shabby.”
This conclusion quickly gained agreement from everyone.
That had to be it!

“Mom, I’m back! Come help me!”
As soon as Ye Yao reached the door, she shouted into the courtyard.
Her arm felt like it was about to fall off. She should have bought less—if her barely healed wound reopened, it would be a real hassle.
Hearing her call, Zhang Qiufeng quickly ran out of the house. Seeing Ye Yao struggling with so many bags, she was stunned.
“What is all this?”
She reached out to help while asking.
Ye Yao finally caught her breath. “Let’s go inside first. I’ll explain inside.”
