Chapter 75
“Li Cheng, why do you have so many milk candies in your pocket?”
In the evening, Shen Yun was sorting out the laundry for the three of them when she unexpectedly found candy in Li Cheng’s pants.
Wasn’t he the one who disliked sweets the most?
Li Cheng, who was organizing documents, looked up.
“Someone gave them to me.”
“Someone? Who? A colleague at the newspaper? A man? A woman?”
It was rare for Shen Yun to be so inquisitive.
Li Cheng couldn’t help but laugh. “A man.”
With that one sentence, he completely shut down her wandering thoughts.
Shen Yun gave him a scrutinizing look, as if she didn’t quite believe him.
What kind of man gives another man candy? That was strange.
“Mom, it seems like the Ye family’s situation has improved recently?”
Li Cheng asked casually.
Shen Yun nodded. “Yes, I heard that Ye Yao made some money, so their mother-daughter life has improved a lot. And I also heard that she exercises every morning, saying she wants to lose weight.”
“Lose weight?”
A scene suddenly flashed in Li Cheng’s mind—the day she fainted in the women’s restroom.
At the time, seeing her condition was serious, he had tried to lift her off the ground, but after several attempts, she didn’t budge. In the end, he had no choice but to get help from another male student, and only then were they able to get her onto his back.
That weight was still fresh in his memory.
“Why are you smiling? Every girl wants to look good. You shouldn’t judge her.”
Seeing the faint smirk on his lips, Shen Yun misunderstood and gave him a reminder.
Li Cheng snapped back to reality. “With her current condition, losing weight won’t be easy.”
“Where there’s a will, there’s a way. But the neighbors in the compound are finding it funny—they’re all saying that girl is trying so hard to lose weight just so she can marry you.”
Shen Yun spoke with a helpless expression, clearly treating it as a joke.
After all, they all knew there wouldn’t be any wedding in six months.
Li Cheng suddenly started coughing. That claim was beyond ridiculous.
“Mom, I still have work to do. You should go take care of your own things.”
This topic wasn’t worth continuing.

Morning.
“Mom, I’m going out for a run!”
Ye Yao had bought running shoes and could finally jog properly. Several little kids from the neighborhood followed her at first, but after leaving the compound, she was on her own.
She had been exercising for about twenty days now, and everything was starting to feel more natural.
Her pace was getting faster, her breathing more controlled.
Pushing herself to the limit, she finally stopped when her legs couldn’t take it anymore.
Gasping for air, her heart pounded wildly.
“Hey, fatty, do you have any money on you?”
Suddenly, two young men in flashy outfits appeared beside her.
Ye Yao was bent over, catching her breath. Upon hearing their words, she froze.
Damn it. Was she getting mugged?
She looked up, and sure enough, both of them were holding fruit knives, glaring at her fiercely.
This wasn’t even a secluded road, yet they were acting so brazenly.
“Brothers, I’m just out for a run. Do I look like someone who has money?”
The two young men exchanged a glance, not surprised—it seemed like they had expected that answer.
“No money? Then don’t blame us for being rough!”
Ye Yao’s eyes flickered as she sized them up again.
Something didn’t seem right…
