Chapter 49: Second Uncle’s Act
When they entered the house earlier, Sheng Xiao had actually sent people to stop Sheng Yehong and his family outside, not allowing them to come in. He said that the old man hadn’t woken up yet and asked them to wait.
Who knows how many cameras were hidden in the nooks and crannies outside? If this were to be leaked to the media, where would Sheng Yehong put his face?
Sheng Ying, who was beside him, said nonchalantly, “There have been many times when you’ve been suppressed by Sheng Xiao, Dad. Are you still afraid of this one?”
Sheng Yehong immediately flipped out, “What kind of nonsense are you talking about? Are you my daughter, Sheng Yehong’s daughter!” After saying that, he turned his head and looked at Sheng Nan, who was still playing games nonchalantly, “And you, this prodigal son! Raising two of you is not as good as one Sheng Xiao. You’re so old, and all you do is play games all day. Be careful, I’ll chop your hands off!”
He vented some of his anger on his own children, but his chest was still filled with rage.
Seeing Sheng Xiao, he also wanted to scold him loudly, but when he met those deep, bottomless black eyes, his courage instantly shrank. Although he was questioning with anger, his voice was very low.
Sheng Ying chuckled behind him. Sheng Yehong turned back to glare at her, and she shrugged and stopped smiling.
Sheng Nan continued to play games with his head down, as if the game was more important to him than anything else.
Sheng Xiao stood in front of Sheng Yehong with his hands in his pockets, looking down at him, “What, Second Uncle, you have some time?”
Sheng Yehong said, “What do you mean? Even if it’s something important, it’s not as important as your grandfather’s illness. For the past two years, I’ve been the one taking care of your grandfather, but you, I don’t know where you’ve been hiding, nowhere to be seen.”
He was in his middle age and slightly overweight, but it couldn’t conceal the bearing on his face, and he resembled Sheng Xiao in some ways.
Sheng Xiao sneered in response, “Second Uncle, are you taking care of the old man, or the shares in his hands?”
At his words, Sheng Yehong’s face stiffened, and Sheng Ying looked over. Even Sheng Nan, who was playing games, paused his fingers for a moment, then continued to operate as if nothing had happened.
Sheng Xiao saw everything, but pretended not to notice. He took the lead and walked into the ward.
Sheng Yehong slapped Sheng Nan on the back of the head, and Sheng Nan reluctantly closed his phone before following Sheng Yehong and Sheng Ying into the ward.
Before they even entered, Sheng Yehong started to cry, “Dad, you scared me to death. If anything happened to you, I’d follow you to the grave…”
“Second Uncle, enough with the act.” A cold voice came, and Sheng Yehong’s crying stopped abruptly.
Sheng Ying said with a teasing tone, “Dad, you’re crying too soon. Grandpa hasn’t woken up yet.”
Sheng Yehong was embarrassed and wiped away his tears. He immediately rushed to the old man’s bed, holding his hand, “Dad, please wake up soon.”
Sheng Xiao glanced at the hypocritical man, and he was about to lose his temper in annoyance, but the old man on the bed moved his fingers. His eyes hadn’t opened yet, but his voice came out first, “I’m not dead yet, and you’re already crying at my funeral?”
Sheng Xiao was the first to stand up. His cold gaze swept over Sheng Yehong, and although Sheng Yehong was reluctant, he still gave him a place.
“Grandpa, how are you feeling?”
The old man slowly opened his eyes, “The King of Hell didn’t take me, so I’m back.”
Zuo Chuan called the doctor in, checked the old man, and left after confirming that there was nothing wrong.
Sheng Yehong went to the old man, “Dad, I heard you were rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night last night. You don’t know how worried I was. I didn’t sleep a wink all night, and I came here as soon as I woke up this morning, but the third son wouldn’t let me in.”
The old man glanced at Sheng Xiao, and Sheng Xiao didn’t dodge or avoid, meaning: Yes, it was me who didn’t let him in.
He rolled his eyes and snorted coldly, “Your father was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night, and you only came this morning. If the King of Hell had taken a liking to me and let me live, you could have come here to collect my body now!”
He knew what his son was thinking. He knew very well what his son was thinking.
Sheng Ying called out to her grandfather, then looked at Sheng Yehong, “Dad, weren’t you at the nightclub last night? What did you say when Uncle Fu called you?”
She really pretended to think for a moment, and Sheng Nan said with a naive face, “Dad said that the money was spent and the matter wasn’t done, so he couldn’t leave.”
The two looked at each other, and Sheng Ying nodded, “Yes, it seems like that.”
The old man didn’t know what he was thinking, and Sheng Yehong looked at his two rebellious children. He almost couldn’t catch his breath and fell to the ground. He lowered his voice and shouted, “You two rascals, what are you talking nonsense about in front of your grandfather!”
The old man knew what his son was like, and he didn’t bother to argue with him. He waved his hand casually, “Go back, I want to live a few more days.”
Sheng Yehong repeatedly explained, “Dad, don’t listen to their nonsense. I was working, there was a problem with the venue at night, and I had to check it out.”
The old man didn’t say anything, and Sheng Xiao gave him a cold look. Sheng Yehong was about to say something else, but he swallowed it back, “Then Dad, I’m relieved to see you’re okay. You get some rest, I’ll have someone make you some soup.”
Sheng Ying followed him out, and Sheng Nan sat beside the old man, motionless. Sheng Yehong shouted at him, “Get out!”
Sheng Nan frowned, “You go ahead, I want to stay with Grandpa for a while.”
Afraid of angering the old man, Sheng Yehong didn’t say anything more and hurried out.
Sheng Nan breathed a sigh of relief, “Grandpa, what do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you. Do you want porridge?” As he spoke, he looked at Sheng Xiao, “Third Brother, haven’t you had breakfast either? Second Brother is making porridge, let’s all have some together.”
The old man really missed Sheng Nan’s cooking. This kid was no good at anything else, and he didn’t care about the group’s business, but he was the best at cooking.
All day long, he was either playing games or figuring out what delicious food to make.
Sheng Xiao nodded.
There were all kinds of ingredients in the refrigerator. Sheng Nan took the things and went into the kitchen. Sheng Xiao sat beside the bed and chatted with the old man.
“You’re willing to come back?” The old man had just woken up and didn’t have much strength, so his voice was weak.
Sheng Xiao felt uncomfortable, but the Third Master Sheng, who had been on the negotiating table since he was a teenager, had seen too many storms and waves. Even if he was worried, he could hide it well. So he just nodded slightly, “What are you talking about? How could you suddenly faint? Did you not take your medicine properly again?”
The old man frowned at the mention of medicine, “There’s no point in taking medicine for my illness. I’ll be happy to live one day at a time. If you can let me hold my great-grandchild sooner, I’ll die without regrets.”
“You’re saying that again!”
“Don’t talk back. A good girl was deceived by you. If you hadn’t done this disgraceful thing, maybe I could have seen my granddaughter-in-law already.” As he spoke, he glanced towards the kitchen.
Sheng Nan happened to come out to get his phone, and he paused slightly when he heard this, looking at Sheng Xiao, “Third Brother, do you have a girl you like?”
