Earth Player Chapter 158

Chapter 158. Jurassic (12) The Swimming T-Rex

Ye Mo is now a robust, young Tyrannosaurus Rex, 10 meters in length. She has not only mastered all the Tyrannosaurus Rex techniques but also some hunting skills from other types of dinosaurs.

Her body is large and sturdy, her hind limbs are thick, her forelimbs are still miniature but agile, capable of remote shooting of arrows and the like. The teeth in her mouth are indestructible, and she has a moderately sized tail for balance.

She looks majestic and powerful, and is more agile than other types of dinosaurs. However, due to her balanced five elements attribute, the skin all over her body is as colorful as in a Mary Sue novel, with a 100% eye-catching power.

This makes her mental illusion increasingly powerful.

Initially, she used mental illusions to protect herself. Within a ten-mile radius, other dinosaurs would perceive Ye Mo as a formidable behemoth through their senses of smell, sight, or hearing, and would steer clear.

Later, Ye Mo began using mental illusions to attract prey. The rainbow colors were too eye-catching, appealing to all dinosaur species, allowing her to digest all types of dinosaurs as 100% energy.

     Kill! Kill! Kill!

Whether it was a solitary Tyrannosaurus Rex or a pack of Deinonychus, Ye Mo had fought them all. The food became more and more abundant, and each ravenous feast made her stronger and stronger, with more and more meat accumulating in her space.

During this period, Ye Mo constantly maintained different illusions within a ten-mile radius, and suffered many injuries. Due to her size, hiding underground was difficult, and she even found herself in a near-desperate situation at one point.

Fortunately, her progress was undeniable, especially in the breakthrough of her mental power attribute, which occurred 10 to 20 times a day.

When Ye Mo’s total body length exceeded 14 meters, due to her Tyrannosaurus Rex identity, even with her multicolored appearance, only a very few dinosaurs dared to confront her head-on for the sake of power

Mental illusions became a method for luring dinosaurs.

She would sometimes transform into other dinosaurs or a previous stage of herself. Perhaps due to her familiarity with herself, transforming into her previous stage was simpler. The scent, size, sound, and other aspects could be perfectly replicated, with a maximum simulation rate of 95%. When transforming into other dinosaurs, the maximum simulation rate at the same distance was less than 85%.

She also transformed into sources of energy, such as dead dinosaurs. The countless meats in her space were a source of temptation. Ye Mo discovered that when there was real food present, the simulation rate of a semi-real illusion could also reach 95%.

For example, a Triceratops that had been emptied of its resources could simulate a dead Triceratops at 95%, or an injured Triceratops at 90%. The latter mainly had subtle differences in sound.

     Ye Mo: “Check personal status.”

Ye Mo’s dinosaur-killing missions were no longer yielding significant gains. Even killing tens of thousands of dinosaurs wouldn’t complete a single mission. It was better to rely on eating to increase her body size and attributes, but the resources needed for eating were also increasing.

Each meal consisted of the organs and blood of small, double-digit, 10-meter-long dinosaurs, along with a small portion of dinosaur meat. It took nearly eight meals of this size to increase her length by 3 centimeters.

She had to eat more frequently and in larger quantities.

     “Burp.”

The hunting here was almost finished. Having become invincible among carnivorous dinosaurs, it was time to move to another location.

She now had the strength to stop hiding.

     …

Ye Mo entered the oasis area.

The oasis was filled with towering trees, no smaller than the dinosaurs themselves, casting shadows over the sky. Between these giant trees grew equally tall shrubbery and other plants. The flowers and fruits of all the plants were also quite large and came in many colors, but 95% of them couldn’t be associated with any modern species.

It was unknown which were poisonous and which were not. The only way to identify them was by observing the diets of herbivorous dinosaurs.

This wasn’t Ye Mo’s first time entering the oasis area. She had conducted over a dozen carnivorous dinosaur experiments. To do this, she had to capture various species of carnivorous dinosaurs alive and feed them grass, flowers, or fruit.

Just like in the modern world, some plants in the dinosaur world are edible for carnivorous dinosaurs, but they provide little to no sustenance, essentially being worthless. On the other hand, some plants suitable for herbivorous dinosaurs not only fail to satisfy carnivorous dinosaurs but may also have adverse effects, even if they contain wood-based energy, which is also true for wood-type dinosaurs.

For carnivorous dinosaurs, eating plants is truly less effective than hunting herbivorous dinosaurs.

Ye Mo has been filling her space with various flowers, fruits, leaves, and grasses, especially stocking up on those favored by stegosaurs. She doesn’t plan to eat them herself, they are gifts prepared for her companion, Watson.

Two ecological chains in the Jurassic period: plants → herbivorous dinosaurs → carnivorous dinosaurs, and all dinosaurs → plants.

Herbivorous dinosaurs may seem to be at the bottom of the food chain, but they often live in large herds, grow rapidly by eating grass, are much larger than carnivorous dinosaurs, and possess both offensive and defensive capabilities. The risk factor for them growing up in the forest is much lower than that for young carnivorous dinosaurs.

An adult herbivorous dinosaur leader consumes an average of about one ton of food per day and can weigh over 100 tons. For a carnivorous dinosaur to grow to over 100 tons, it might have to consume tens of thousands of other creatures, making the danger obvious.

There are many small animals in the forest.

Some of the small animals here are about the same size as leopards, lions and tigers in later generations compared to dinosaurs.Ye Mo even saw what appeared to be the ancestors of elephants. In the Jurassic period, even the ancestral elephants had to play the role of underlings, just to survive. There were also some that were about the size of cockroaches and mosquitoes in later times, and their types were hard to define clearly. From a later perspective, they were like chimeras.

Due to the extremely dense vegetation in the forest, they had excellent hiding places. At the slightest sign of movement, they would immediately retreat into tree hollows or underground burrows.

Even among herbivorous dinosaurs, many were omnivorous and would occasionally prey on these smaller creatures.

Ye Mo was just going to a lake for a drink of water when she encountered four herds of herbivorous dinosaurs along the way.

Two herds of herbivorous dinosaurs avoided her, one herd of herbivorous dinosaurs ignored her, and the remaining herd of sauropods actually threatened her.

Even though she can now be considered a land-based carnivorous dinosaur overlord, facing hundreds of wood-type sauropods that are several times larger than her on average, there is still a certain possibility of failure, so she needs to be cautious and calculated.

Sauropods are one of the longest dinosaurs, with long heads and tails, short and thin trunks, and flexible tails like whips, which are also their weapons for driving away and injuring other dinosaurs.

Ye Mo dodged several sauropod’s whip-like tails and bit off the tail of one of them.

     “Roar!”

With the sound of shattering bones, the sauropod whose tail was bitten screamed in pain.

Ye Mo put the severed tail into her space, and instead of retreating, she advanced towards the herd of sauropods, engaging in a fierce battle with the one that had lost its tail.

This is because the tail of the wood-type sauropod is not the most terrifying aspect. In the forest, wood-based energy is even more frightening. They can use some plants in the forest as attack and information-gathering tools, and even mental illusions have limited effectiveness against them.

Instead of hiding, it’s better to disrupt them from within.

Sauropods don’t have a strong sense of unity, and their tails can also injure their own kind. By the time they tried to flee in the latter part of the battle, it was too late, and Ye Mo had taken them all down.

A group of food acquired √.

This will provide several more satisfying meals.

     …

Ye Mo was in a good mood and arrived at the lake.

The lake water is clear but unfathomably deep, with lush aquatic plants and a significant population of water-based animals, but no giant dinosaurs. Instead, there are mostly other creatures.

Taking a sip, it’s refreshing and invigorating. It’s a freshwater lake, and the water contains a faint wood-based energy.

To Ye Mo’s amusement, some creatures in the lake actually attacked her, somewhat similar to modern octopuses, with numerous tentacles and the ability to regenerate severed limbs.

So, the Tyrannosaurus decided to go fishing.

The first step in fishing: testing the water’s depth.

Ye Mo used a dinosaur from her space to test. Surprisingly, a dinosaur weighing over a hundred tons disappeared into the lake without even creating a ripple.

She tied the Suihou Pearl to her left forelimb, securing it so it wouldn’t fall off, and then she gradually stepped into the water from the riverbank.

As soon as Ye Mo went into the water, two more animals came to attack her. They were killed by the bow and dinosaur spines or horns, and some of them actually escaped… It was quite interesting.

When Ye Mo waded in to a depth exceeding half her body size, she no longer felt any resistance, and moving in the water was as easy as walking on flat ground.

Or rather, not exactly the same.

The main challenge is her inability to reach the bottom. The Tyrannosaurus’s forelimbs are of little use for floating, so it has to rely on its hind limbs to paddle for movement. It’s truly difficult to be a swimming Tyrannosaurus.

At the same time, in both Hawk eye’s and her own eyes, the multicolored Tyrannosaurus’s body had suddenly vanished.

After swimming for a while and getting used to this method, Ye Mo began her ‘ghost hunting’ journey in the lake.

It has to be said that the oasis is a resource-rich place.

The lake is rich in aquatic resources, including aquatic animals, aquatic plants, and aquatic minerals on the lakebed.

Although Ye Mo was invisible, the movement of her massive body swimming could not be completely concealed. Therefore, she had to use some human fishing methods—nets, angling, or traps.

In the end, however, Ye Mo collected a portion of aquatic plants and aquatic minerals from the lake, as well as edible food with 70% aquatic energy, consuming little and storing much in her space.

This is because water is essential for life, while the food can be replaced with the sauropods she had previously acquired.

It’s worth mentioning that there are some dinosaur skeletons at the bottom of the lake, mostly herbivorous dinosaurs, but also some carnivorous ones.

They were unfortunately killed by the lake’s creatures. If these skeletons were placed outside, they would likely be gnawed to bits by other dinosaurs, but many aquatic animals don’t eat them. In the future, they might become—dinosaur fossils?

Ye Mo, flexing her strong and powerful limbs, swam out of the lake and stepped onto the shore, instantly reappearing before other creatures.

She shook herself twice, shaking off the water.

Ye Mo let out two long howls towards the sky and headed into the dense forest, her goal being the east where the true sun rises, beyond the illusory sun. Her mental illusion transformed her into an ordinary young herbivorous dinosaur.

Other dinosaurs would be wise not to provoke her, for once they did, they would surely become her meal.

Traveling through the forest certainly slowed her down. It wasn’t just the hunting, the Jurassic vegetation was too dense, and clearing a path was a skilled task.

After five days of travel, Ye Mo finally saw the edge of the oasis, or rather, the edge of this continent.
