Is She Song Beibei or Hu Jingsheng?
Hu Ouhua took several bus transfers before finally reaching her destination.
Looking up at the towering building, she felt a wave of emotions wash over her.
In her past life, this was a place she couldn’t even dream of stepping into. Yet, in this life, fate had granted her the opportunity to set foot on this land.
It all felt like a dream.
As she was lost in thought, her gaze landed on a young girl not far away, dressed in a fashionable long dress. The girl had short hair neatly clipped back with a hairpin, giving her an innocent and well-behaved appearance.
Surrounding her were a few tall and handsome young men, each with striking features.
“Brother Liu, Brother Song, Beibei is so happy to witness such a grand occasion. I never had this kind of opportunity back in Ningcheng…”
Her voice carried a hint of grievance, yet her eyes showed both joy and sorrow.
It was so fake that it made Hu Ouhua nauseous.
At first glance, Hu Ouhua thought she was mistaken. But after rubbing her eyes and taking another look, she confirmed that the girl calling herself “Beibei” was indeed Hu Jingsheng.
Even if she were reduced to ashes, Hu Ouhua wouldn’t mistake her for anyone else.
Just as she was about to go over and say hello, someone beat her to it.
“Slap!”
A crisp slap landed.
Followed by a cry of pain.
Under everyone’s shocked gazes, Yang Jiaojiao grabbed the pretentious girl’s collar and shouted fiercely, “Hu Jingsheng, you’ve got some nerve! Chasing all the way here—are you still dreaming of marrying my brother? Someone like you isn’t even worthy!”
Tears welled up in Hu Jingsheng’s eyes as she covered her cheek, sobbing, “Who… who are you? I don’t know you. My name is Song Beibei. You must have mistaken me for someone else!”
“Oh? You think just because you changed your name, I wouldn’t recognize you?” Yang Wei stormed forward, grabbing Hu Jingsheng’s wrist and pulling up her sleeve.
“There should be a black mole.”
But as soon as he finished speaking, they all saw that her arm was smooth and unblemished—no mole in sight.
“What are you doing?! How dare you bully my sister?! I’m telling you, her name is Song Beibei! She’s my biological sister! If you’re mentally unstable, go act crazy somewhere else, or I’ll call the police and have you arrested!”
A young man stepped forward, standing protectively in front of her.
The girl calling herself Song Beibei clung to his arm, sobbing, “Brother, I grew up in the mountains, raised by our grandparents. I may not have seen much of the world, but that doesn’t mean they can just bully a girl from the countryside like this. Wuu wuu wuu…”
She cried on command.
Her tears streamed down her face in big drops, as if her heart was truly breaking.
Everyone watching was stunned.
The surrounding crowd began criticizing the Yang family, saying they were making trouble for no reason.
Gu Wanru, sensing that they had embarrassed themselves enough, pulled Yang Jiaojiao away from the crowd. Once they reached a secluded corner, she whispered a warning:
“This is the military district. You can’t shout and cause a scene like that. If people see you acting uncultured and bullying someone, even I won’t be able to help you. You know how many girls want to marry into our family. You saw what happened last time.”
A deep sense of crisis overwhelmed Yang Jiaojiao.
She quickly raised her hands in surrender. “I… I’ll be careful! I won’t cause trouble again!”
Over the past few weeks, she had attended countless social gatherings. The military district was filled with high-status, beautiful, and well-educated women, all eager to marry into the Lu family.
She had been incredibly lucky to get this chance.
“You need to behave yourself today. Everyone here is Lu Yuetang’s colleagues and superiors. If you make a mistake, you could get him in trouble. If he’s reassigned to a rural military post, you’ll have to go with him…” Gu Wanru added lightly.
Yang Jiaojiao was terrified.
She hesitated. “Then… can I not attend?”
“It’s too late for that. Many of Yuetang’s elders have heard about you and are eager to meet their future daughter-in-law today.” Gu Wanru secretly smirked.
Yang Jiaojiao felt a heavy weight on her shoulders.
Gone was her usual arrogance in the Lu household. The overwhelming military presence made her feel small, turning her into a nervous wreck.
Gu Wanru, seeing her reaction, was secretly pleased.
Her efforts had finally paid off.
The more arrogant Yang Jiaojiao had been, the more greedy she was for status, the more she feared losing her current privileged life.
And the more anxious and afraid she became.
So, Yang Jiaojiao meekly followed behind Gu Wanru, so nervous that her heart pounded in her throat.
However, after they left, Yang Wei ended up getting into a physical fight with the Song family.
At first, he was confident in his judgment, insisting that Song Beibei was actually his discarded lover, Hu Jingsheng. He even demanded to tear open her dress to check her back.
The Song family couldn’t tolerate this and immediately fought back, engaging in a brawl with Yang Wei.
In the end, they were all taken to the military police station.
Qing Fen was furious.
She arrogantly declared, “My son-in-law is Lu Yuetang, a regiment commander in the military district. You’d better release us now, or you’ll suffer the consequences!”
Yang Wei sneered at the Song family. “You’d better stay out of our way. Otherwise, I won’t let you off. A woman like her? Even if you gave her to me, I wouldn’t want her.”
His arrogance was outrageous.
Song Wenli was livid.
He argued, “Even if you’re related to a high-ranking military officer, that doesn’t give you the right to humiliate someone in public! My sister already said she doesn’t know you! First, you checked her sleeve, and now you want to tear her clothes—what kind of human does that?”
Song Beibei was in tears, covering her face as she sobbed, “I don’t even know them! I’ve never met them before! You can ask our village leader, Song Captain, and the local party secretary to vouch for me. Wuu wuu wuu… I can’t live like this, being humiliated like this…”
Her cries were heart-wrenching.
One of the military police officers called Lu Yuetang’s office.
After hanging up, he announced, “Regiment Commander Lu will be coming shortly to handle this matter.”
As soon as they heard that Lu Yuetang was coming, Yang Wei and Qing Fen became even more aggressive.
They knew Lu Yuetang’s biggest secret.
He had been avoiding them lately, but they had been looking forward to seeing him. When he arrived, they would not only teach the Song family a lesson but also confront him about his attitude.
Just because he couldn’t have children, did that mean he no longer had any obligations as a husband?
That was unacceptable!
Qing Fen pointed at Song Beibei and sneered, “Hah! There’s no way two unrelated people look exactly the same! Unless you two are twins, but the Hu family never said Hu Jingsheng had a twin named Song!”
Yang Wei smirked.
“You can stop me all you want, but I dare you to check for yourself. There’s a red birthmark on her back. Besides, I’ve seen every inch of her before. What’s the point of pretending? I dumped her, plain and simple.”
“Waaah!” Song Beibei sobbed even louder.
Song Wenli was furious.
“I’m reporting you for sexual harassment!” he shouted.
“Sexual harassment?”
Yang Wei burst into laughter. “That only applies if I wanted her but she refused. Get your facts straight—I was interested in her sister, Hu Ouhua. She threw herself at me willingly. At most, I was just fooling around with a loose woman. Worst case, we get publicly shamed together.”
What was there to be afraid of?
“Now, I have nothing to worry about! My brother-in-law is Lu Yuetang, a high-ranking military officer. If anyone gets publicly shamed, it’ll be you! My brother-in-law has power and connections—crushing you would be as easy as crushing an ant!”
Click. Click. Click.
At that moment, several men in white military uniforms stepped into the room.
Their cold, sharp gazes swept over Yang Wei, and one of them sneered, “What an arrogant statement. Do you think the sky belongs to the Lu family? The land? The entire country?”
