Chapter 12
Lin Feng silently took out the envelope from his pocket.
“When I was at the villa, Murong Mengxi sent me a message, claiming to know the whereabouts of my father, so…” Lin Feng recounted the events that had just occurred.
Song Xueyan remained silent, quietly observing Lin Feng.
“There’s a room key and an address in this envelope. I plan to go and check it out tomorrow,” Lin Feng said, glancing at the envelope in his hand.
On the other side, the two young men who had been kicked away got up from the ground. Realizing they couldn’t defeat Lin Feng and Song Xueyan, they ran off into the distance.
“Do we need to chase after them?” Lin Feng asked.
Song Xueyan shook her head, “They have support from the Chu family. They’ll be released tomorrow even if they get arrested. I’ve already injured their arms just now, consider it a lesson.”
“What time is it now?” Song Xueyan suddenly changed the topic, asking about the time.
Lin Feng opened his phone to check.
“Nine-thirty.”
Song Xueyan extended her slender jade-like hand, and Lin Feng voluntarily handed over the envelope. Song Xueyan looked at the address on it and slowly said, “It’s still early. Let’s make a trip to the outskirts.”
Lin Feng nodded.
He had planned for this.
That night, with the moon casting a hazy glow and the trees casting a dancing shadows, Song Xueyan drove while Lin Feng gazed at her.
Song Xueyan wore a sports casual outfit, perfectly highlighting her graceful figure with enchanting curves. Her long, jet-black hair cascaded down to her waist, and her eyes sparkled like a starry sea.
Lin Feng was mesmerized.
In his world, the only one comparable to Song Xueyan was Aunt Mengxi, who was in her thirties. However, Song Xueyan had the advantage of being younger.
Song Xueyan was unaware of Lin Feng’s thoughts, but seeing Lin Feng’s infatuated expression, she coldly remarked, “Have you forgotten my warning?”
“(⊙o⊙) What?”
“Don’t want your eyeballs anymore?”
Lin Feng instantly retracted his head, looking straight ahead with a righteous gaze.
With ten kilometers of the journey remaining, Lin Feng remained silent, as if he were a wooden stake.
The key point was the two words.
Cold and aloof.
In the outskirts of Jiangzhou, a quiet and peaceful place.
Following the navigation instructions, Song Xueyan arrived at a standalone villa.
“Is this where your dad lives?” Song Xueyan asked in confusion. “Didn’t Jiangzhou Hospital provide accommodation? Why would your dad live in a place like this?”
Lin Feng shrugged, indicating that he didn’t know either.
Song Xueyan parked the car and walked towards the villa. Lin Feng tactfully followed behind Song Xueyan, knowing that his unmarried fiancée could protect his safety.
Suddenly, Song Xueyan stopped.
Lin Feng ran into Song Xueyan, and a charming fragrance enveloped him. Lin Feng took a light sniff, instantly intoxicated.
“What’s wrong?” Lin Feng asked with a serious expression and a righteous tone.
“There’s a spider web ahead; you go first.”
Lin Feng: “…”
The two switched positions, and Lin Feng picked up a stick, walking ahead to clear the spider webs. Excitedly, he said, “The presence of spider webs here indicates that no one has been here for at least several months.”
Song Xueyan remained silent.
She didn’t agree with Lin Feng’s point of view.
As a cultivator, if she were searching this place, her first step would be to jump onto the roof and infiltrate from above.
Arriving at the entrance of the villa, Lin Feng took out the key from the envelope and opened the front door.
The villa was very neat inside.
Song Xueyan secretly activated her cultivation, searching the villa. Only after confirming that there was no one inside did she breathe a sigh of relief.
If something unexpected happened, she could ensure her own safety, but she couldn’t guarantee to take Lin Feng away alive.
As she delved into the realm of cultivators, she discovered many cultivators around her. Not to mention, the renowned Daoist Qinghong in Jiangzhou was actually a cultivator far superior to her.
Lin Feng walked around on the first floor and found nothing suspicious.
The two then proceeded to the second floor.
There were three rooms on the second floor.
Lin Feng pushed open the door and entered one of the rooms. The furnishings were simple, but Song Xueyan furrowed her brows slightly, “There’s a familiar smell in here, similar to the scent of that woman on you.”
“Aunt Mengxi?” Lin Feng was surprised.
Song Xueyan nodded. Judging by the scent, her judgment should be correct; the smell was strong, indicating that she had once lived here.
Song Xueyan shared her conclusion.
Curious, Lin Feng sniffed the bed but couldn’t detect anything. He then genuinely praised Song Xueyan, “Yan Yan, you’re nose is more impressive than a dog’s nose!”
Song Xueyan gave him a cold look.
“No, I mean, you’re even better than a dog.”
“No, no, I mean a dog is not as good as you.”
Lin Feng ended up digging himself into a hole and wisely stayed silent.
Song Xueyan refocused on the room, eventually reaching a wardrobe. It was built into the wall, and she opened it to find it empty.
“Don’t say a word,” whispered Song Xueyan, and Lin Feng obediently kept quiet.
Song Xueyan approached the wardrobe, tapped it above, below, left, and right while closing her eyes, listening carefully to the echoes of the knocks.
Two minutes later.
Song Xueyan slowly opened her stunning eyes, “There’s space inside the wardrobe, pull it out.”
“I pull out the wardrobe?” Lin Feng looked at Song Xueyan in disbelief. The wardrobe was made of solid wood, weighing at least seven to eight hundred pounds. He couldn’t budge it, no matter how hard he tried.
Song Xueyan gave him a contemptuous look.
Then, she stepped forward, grabbed a corner of the wardrobe, and effortlessly pulled it out, weighing eight hundred pounds.
Lin Feng swallowed nervously.
Regarding physical strength, he had gained self-awareness.
“Yan Yan, rest assured, in the future, if you tell me to go east, I won’t go west. If you ask me to eat, I won’t drink. If you ask me to take off my pants, I won’t fart.”
“Get lost!” Song Xueyan was exasperated.
“Alright!”
Lin Feng said and maintained a safe distance of five meters from Song Xueyan.
On the other side, Song Xueyan took out the wardrobe. At the bottom of the embedded groove, a hole appeared, extending below the first floor.
“Under the villa, there’s a basement!” Lin Feng exclaimed.
Song Xueyan squinted her eyes, surprised that the designer had placed a secret passage within the walls, connecting the second floor directly to the basement.
“Follow me,” Song Xueyan said.
Lin Feng quickly followed her.
The passage led directly to the basement on the first floor. It was pitch-black, but Song Xueyan turned on a switch on the wall, revealing the entire basement to both of them
Various medical equipment surrounded them.
Song Xueyan surveyed the area and noticed something suspicious. She walked over, opened a hidden compartment, revealing a black wooden box with strange symbols carved on it.
“Why are there weird symbols on this?” Lin Feng asked in confusion.
“These aren’t weird symbols; they are formation runes. Without a specific method, the box can’t be opened,” Song Xueyan explained softly.
“Really?”
Lin Feng skeptically took the black box, then effortlessly unfastened its wooden clasp. With a “click,” the box opened.
Song Xueyan looked at Lin Feng with a strange expression. When her gaze shifted to the box, a blush appeared on her beautiful face, and she excitedly said, “Spirit stones!”
Lin Feng, confused, took out two spirit stones from the box. “What’s the use of these white pebbles?”
“They’re useless for you, but they’re extremely valuable to me,” Song Xueyan mumbled.
“If they’re useful to you, then take them,” Lin Feng said, handing the two spirit stones to Song Xueyan. She stood there motionless for a moment.
After a while, Song Xueyan’s beautiful eyes widened in disbelief looking at Lin Feng.
Lin Feng blushed slightly, feeling awkward. “Yan Yan, it’s not appropriate here. There’s a bed on the second floor…”
“Get lost!”
A hint of embarrassment and anger appeared on Song Xueyan’s exquisite face.
“This guy is totally clueless.”
Song Xueyan regained her composure, carefully stowing away the two transparent spirit stones. Her face returned to its calm and elegant demeanor.
The attention of both turned back to the wooden box.
Inside the box were two transparent spirit stones, a dagger, and a piece of torn paper.
Lin Feng picked up the dagger, examining it seriously.
It was an entirely black dagger, only ten centimeters long, with strange engravings emitting a metallic sheen.
“This thing must be worth a lot,” Lin Feng commented.
Song Xueyan immediately rolled her eyes at Lin Feng.
“If I’m not mistaken, this dagger should be a spiritual weapon. In terms of value, it’s absolutely priceless. Lin Feng, quickly put it away,” Song Xueyan exclaimed excitedly.
Lin Feng nodded and tucked the dagger into his belt.
Song Xueyan couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
“Yan Yan, what about this piece of paper?” Lin Feng curiously asked.
Song Xueyan shook her head, “I don’t know, but being with the Spirit Stones, it must be important. Keep it for now, it might come in handy later.”
Lin Feng agreed and placed the paper back into the black box.
After searching the basement again and finding no valuable clues, the two retraced their steps through the secret passage and returned to the second floor of the villa.
“Yan Yan, let’s go out,” Lin Feng suggested.
“Okay.”
They left the villa and got back into the car.
Lin Feng glanced around the dark surroundings and checked the time on his phone. It was exactly midnight. He shivered involuntarily and took the driver’s seat.
Song Xueyan also got into the car.
At the moment they got in, Song Xueyan had a bad premonition, an inexplicable sense of unease.
The car started, and the high beams illuminated a dark figure in the distant woods.
Song Xueyan’s pupils suddenly contracted.
“It seems we’re in trouble!”
Song Xueyan started the car and headed towards the dark figure.
As the car approached, the figure became clearer. The person was tall, wearing black night attire, with golden hair and a prominent nose—typical characteristics of a foreigner.
This foreigner was none other than the assassin hired by Chu Qiu.
The blond assassin, facing the oncoming vehicle, showed no fear. He calmly pulled out a distinctive handgun and fired two shots towards Lin Feng.
