“Take off your clothes!” Her serious tone left no room for imagination, making Lu Heng think he had misunderstood.
“I just changed my clothes,” he said. After all, today was his wedding day, so he had been cleaned from head to toe and was spotless.
Lin Nannan leaned in and sniffed. The distinct scent of soap made her nod, but her hands didn’t stop moving, giving Lu Heng the illusion that he was being stripped bare.
“I don’t need to change clothes…” he said through clenched teeth.
Lin Nannan paused, frowning in confusion. “Can we have a child without taking off clothes?”
She had no practical experience. In her world, natural conception was no longer possible. Even with advanced technology, the birth rate was extremely low. This was their pain and the reason they desperately sought natural, unprocessed food.
They had discovered that only by consuming natural, unprocessed food could they increase the birth rate and prevent human extinction.
Originally, when she married Lu Heng, she hadn’t thought about having children, especially since he was paralyzed.
But after seeing Lu Heng, she thought having a child like him might not be such a bad idea. That’s why she was acting this way now.
However, having no practical experience or even observation of such matters, she felt a bit troubled by Lu Heng’s reluctance, wondering if she was doing something wrong.
“Ha… have a child?” Lu Heng, who had never panicked even when severely injured, was now so flustered he could barely speak.
“Yes, we’re married. Isn’t having a child normal?” She spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world, making it seem like she knew what she was doing. But in reality, the little she knew came from overhearing crude conversations while the original host wandered the village. So, her understanding was vague and incomplete.
Lu Heng wanted to facepalm, but he couldn’t move. He could only endure the heat rising in his body and say through gritted teeth, “Nannan, wait a moment. I need to talk to you…”
His wife was so bold that he couldn’t handle it!
“We can talk later…” Convinced that her approach was correct, Lin Nannan leaned closer and reached out, ready to proceed. Lu Heng felt his entire body tense up.
“Lin Nannan, wait! If you keep going, I’ll call for help.” Lu Heng blurted out in panic, immediately regretting his words…
Lin Nannan thought for a moment and muttered, “Isn’t that what I’m supposed to say?”
Lu Heng was both amused and exasperated. Seeing that she had finally stopped, he took a deep breath and said, “Can you listen to me first?”
Her hand had stopped but didn’t move away, so Lin Nannan could still feel the allure emanating from Lu Heng. After a moment of hesitation, she said, “Go ahead and talk!”
But her hand showed no intention of moving.
Lu Heng forced himself to stay calm. Having never been so intimately close to a woman before, his scalp was tingling. Finally, he gritted his teeth and said, “I’m feeling a bit cold. Can you cover me with the blanket first…”
Since he said so, Lin Nannan had no choice but to comply.
She lay down unhappily and grumbled, “Hurry up and talk!”
Lu Heng took a deep breath and said, “This marriage wasn’t supposed to involve you. In my current state, I’ll never recover. I don’t want to burden you…”
“Are you asking for a divorce?” The implication in his words made Lin Nannan sit up abruptly. In the darkness, she stared intently at Lu Heng and demanded.
If they divorced, where would she find land to grow crops?
Thinking this, she immediately spoke with utmost seriousness and determination, “I will never agree to a divorce. Don’t even think about it!”
Without her consent, Lu Heng couldn’t move, and no one could force her to do anything.
