Lin Shuyue suppressed the sourness in her heart and found two girls who were still somewhat rational and had some authority among the other girls to watch over the tied-up instructor. Then she went up to the third floor.
The two instructors on the third floor operated together.
They were currently in dormitory 302.
Dormitory 302 housed two troublemakers: Ah Hao and Zhou Bingrong, who had just been sent in yesterday.
Zhou Bingrong wore glasses and looked thin and weak. He was a year younger than Ah Hao, fifteen this year.
Yesterday, on the way to the internet addiction school, he had questioned and argued with the instructors a few times and was given a rough initiation before being locked in a small dark room until this morning.
Now, the two instructors came in and demanded that he take an unknown small white pill. Zhou Bingrong looked at them with suspicion and refused, “I’m not sick, why should I take medicine? I’m very healthy, I won’t take it.”
Zhou Bingrong’s words darkened the faces of the two instructors.
Since they started working at this school, this medicine has been distributed like this. As for what it treated, they didn’t care at all. After all, they weren’t the ones taking it.
They weren’t that curious either. Anyway, the school paid a high salary. People like them, with no skills or connections, could only dream of finding such a high-paying job elsewhere!
They had been working here for over a year, and many people like this had questioned them, but they had all been beaten into submission.
The two instructors exchanged a look. The one closest to Zhou Bingrong suddenly raised his hand and slapped Zhou Bingrong hard across the face.
The slap directly sent the thin teenager sprawling to the ground. Accompanied by a ringing in his ears, his vision blurred, making it difficult to hear or see clearly.
Zhou Bingrong lay on the ground, his face numb with pain, his mind a confused mix of shock and anger. He had grown up without his family ever laying a hand on him, yet these people dared to do this!
“I’ll fight you!”
He shook his head, stood up unsteadily, and charged towards the two smug-looking instructors. The anger in his heart made him forget to consider whether he could win or not.
How could a weak teenager be a match for two strong adult men?
The other students in the dormitory turned pale as they listened to Zhou Bingrong’s miserable screams. They watched the one-sided beating and bullying with wide eyes, too scared to move.
Ah Hao couldn’t bear to watch and closed his eyes, his fists clenched tightly.
Even though he couldn’t see, he couldn’t block out what he heard. Every time the beaten teenager cried out, Ah Hao trembled, and veins popped out on his neck as if he were the one being beaten.
Before Zhou Bingrong came, he was the one who suffered the instructors’ kicks and punches. According to previous students, this was something every new student had to go through.
Only by constantly beating them, beating them until they were afraid, could they be obedient in the future. This way, after they went out, they would be “very good” because they were afraid of their parents sending them back in, and they wouldn’t dare to disobey.
Ah Hao felt that this place was not like a school at all, but more like the Nazi concentration camps written about in books—inhuman and cruel.
And they, these so-called internet-addicted teenagers, were like a group of pigs and dogs. To make them obedient, they trained them like monkeys, using pain, hunger, and intimidation to tame them.
Ah Hao gasped for breath. The last sentence on the note given to him by the cafeteria aunt suddenly popped into his mind: You must believe that good will prevail over evil, dawn is just ahead, and evil will eventually be defeated.
Grandma was waiting for him to get out. They would definitely be rescued…
Suddenly, Ah Hao felt his whole body filled with courage and hope. He opened his eyes and looked at the teenager who was still being beaten, his eyes unfocused and dim. He was begging for help!
A few days ago, when Ah Hao was being beaten, he had also asked the surrounding teenagers for help, but all he saw were pairs of fearful and evasive eyes.
He didn’t want to become such a numb person!
Ah Hao silently recited the words on the note in his heart. He gritted his teeth and strode out, kicking away the instructor on the left who was committing the violence and punching the instructor on the right.
Then, he helped Zhou Bingrong up, shielded him behind his back, and glared angrily at the two instructors.
“Damn it! You spineless bastard, you dare to fight back? Today, I’ll make you regret it!” the two instructors cursed incessantly, their expressions ferocious, as they pulled out the belts from their waists.
“If you have the guts, beat me to death! If you don’t, I’ll visit your grave next year!” Ah Hao shouted back, not at all intimidated.
Just as a terrifying act of violence was about to unfold, the other students, despite trembling, gradually gathered around, shielding Ah Hao and Zhou Bingrong behind them and facing the furious duo.
The two instructors didn’t expect these already tamed lambs to have a day of resistance, and they became even more enraged.
They especially regretted not bringing their rulers and Dragon Whips. The two sneered and walked forward. It didn’t matter; belts could inflict quite a bit of pain too.
The two didn’t take these students seriously. People whose spirits had been broken couldn’t be expected to be very tough, could they?
“Useless trash, you think a few weaklings like you can stop us? I think you all need a beating!” The two didn’t take these thin and timid teenagers seriously.
Perhaps they were provoked by being looked at with the eyes of someone looking at garbage, or perhaps Ah Hao’s bravery and stubbornness encouraged them.
At this moment, a surge of courage and anger rose in their hearts. Even though their legs were shaking with fear, they didn’t move a step.
It was as if they were protecting not Zhou Bingrong behind them, but themselves when they had just entered the school and were targeted and beaten by the instructors in every possible way.
Their attitude made the two instructors very angry. “You bunch of losers, bastards, useless trash, get out of the way! Otherwise, we’ll deal with all of you together. Don’t blame me for not warning you.”
Ah Hao looked at the students standing in front of him and Zhou Bingrong. A fiery emotion welled up in his chest, about to erupt. He looked at the two instructors with hatred and shouted loudly, “There are only two of them, and there are so many of us! We’re not afraid of them! Let’s fight them!”
Zhou Bingrong, his face bruised and swollen, brightened up and immediately responded, “That’s right, let’s fight them! We weren’t born into this world to be beaten by this scum!”
“Beat that son of a bitch to death!” For the first time in his life, Zhou Bingrong cursed crudely, and it felt surprisingly good!
At this moment, everyone was filled with excitement, and the two took the lead and charged forward.
Sometimes, all a silent group lacks is a leader. Now that Ah Hao and Zhou Bingrong were charging ahead, a surge of courage also rose in the hearts of these already tamed boys. They followed behind Ah Hao and Zhou Bingrong and rushed forward as well.
The two instructors were strong and sturdy. They ate the meals Xiao Changxin ordered for them from a small restaurant outside, while these students couldn’t even eat their fill.
But there’s a saying that even ants can shake an elephant, and there’s an ancient saying that two fists can’t beat four hands. There were twelve people in a male dormitory. With so many people, even with a war of attrition, these instructors wouldn’t be able to withstand it.
Lin Shuyue had been standing outside when Ah Hao helped Zhou Bingrong. Seeing them bravely stand up and then seeing them lead the other students to fight back against the instructors, Lin Shuyue smiled.
She stood outside, enjoying the night breeze, and waited until the instructors’ initial angry curses gradually faded into silence.
Lin Shuyue seized the opportunity and pushed open the door.
The sound of the door opening made the boys, who had just united to take down the two instructors, instantly turn pale.
The instructors were pinned to the ground by the crowd and couldn’t move. Seeing Lin Shuyue walk in through the gaps in the crowd, they looked as if they had seen a savior. “Old woman, hurry up and go to the office building to call for help! I’ll definitely kill these little bastards tonight!”
In the instructors’ minds, as long as someone was a staff member, they were on the students’ opposite side. They should be on the same side.
The few people closest to Lin Shuyue instantly became wary.
Lin Shuyue didn’t even look at the instructor. She turned her head to look at Ah Hao and said softly, “Tie them up.”
Ah Hao and Zhou Bingrong exchanged a look and immediately tore the bedsheets. Several bedsheets were tied together, binding the two instructors tightly.
The two instructors didn’t expect Lin Shuyue to not be on their side. Their eyes widened, and they looked at Lin Shuyue in disbelief. The anger of being betrayed instantly filled their chests. “What are you doing, you bitch? Didn’t you understand when I told you to call for help? Do you not want to work here anymore?”
“I advise you to be smart and release me quickly, so you can suffer less. Otherwise, when the other instructors notice we haven’t returned and come looking for us, you won’t even know how you died,” the two instructors threatened Lin Shuyue one after the other.
Lin Shuyue frowned. “You guys are so noisy.”
Zhou Bingrong didn’t know where he got two smelly socks, but he stuffed them into their mouths. The world went silent.
“Ring ring ring…”
The phone rang from one of the instructors’ bodies, sounding particularly jarring in the dormitory, which was clearly full of people but eerily quiet.
Lin Shuyue walked over and took out the phone. It was the latest flip phone on the market, costing one or two thousand yuan.
The caller’s information flashed on the screen: Principal Xiao.
The instructor whose phone was taken clearly also saw the caller. His mouth, stuffed with smelly socks, made even louder muffled noises. The look in his eyes as he looked at Lin Shuyue and the group of students carried a hint of hatred and satisfaction.
Lin Shuyue couldn’t stand seeing them make such an expression. She slapped him on the backhand. “You dog, look again and I’ll dig out your eyes.”
Lin Shuyue walked to the side and gently flipped open the phone with her thumb.
Xiao Changxin on the other end of the phone seemed to have been drinking. Before he even spoke, he let out a loud hiccup. “Liu Xianggang, bring that new guy surnamed Zhou over here. He’s a bit seriously ill, and I need to treat him!”
Then, he hung up the phone with a snap.
Lin Shuyue closed the phone, a smile appearing on the corner of her lips.
She had been wondering today how to let Xiao Changxin, who loved using “electroshock therapy” the most, taste electroshock himself. Now, he had delivered himself right to her door.
It would take at least fifty minutes to drive here from the Public Security Bureau in the city center. Thirty minutes had passed since she received Hang Jiabai’s text message. In another twenty minutes, they would arrive.
Lin Shuyue played with the phone. “You guys keep an eye on them. Don’t let them run away, and don’t beat them anymore. I’ll go out and take care of something first. Don’t be afraid, I’m here for everything. Things will turn around soon.”
Lin Shuyue didn’t reveal her identity or the information that the police were about to arrive.
As a reserve police officer, Lin Shuyue knew all too well what it meant to tip off the enemy, and until the very last moment, there were many variables.
If her words caused a change in this arrest operation, she would never forgive herself in this lifetime!
Lin Shuyue’s words didn’t comfort the students. They had just grown accustomed to silence.
What they did tonight was impulsive, and many of them had even regretted it after fighting back against the instructors.
But there was no regret pill to take in this world, let alone in this school. Even if Lin Shuyue didn’t say anything, they would keep a close watch on these two instructors.
They didn’t think about tomorrow, nor dared to think about it, but tonight, they wanted to get through it safely. Who knows if they’ll even see the sun tomorrow?!
Lin Shuyue looked at the students who had fallen silent again, turned around, and left the dormitory. Ah Hao followed behind her.
Ah Hao had been paying attention to her all this time. After she went out this afternoon, Ah Hao had been waiting for her to come back. Hearing Lin Shuyue say this, he knew that whatever she wanted to do, she had done it.
For some reason, Ah Hao had great confidence in her.
Zhou Bingrong looked at Ah Hao’s back and followed him with a limp. Several bolder boys saw him go out and followed behind. Three girls stood at the corner of the stairs on the second floor and silently joined the small group.
Lin Shuyue opened the lock on the iron gate on the first floor and sighed softly, but in the end, she didn’t say anything.
Tonight, the moon was hidden behind thick clouds. A strong wind was blowing, rustling the leaves around them, and bursts of muffled thunder exploded overhead.
A storm was coming, as if to wash away all the evil in the world.
Under Lin Shuyue’s lead, the group silently crossed the basketball court, walked over the cinder track, and headed towards the second floor of the teaching building with a clear purpose.
There was still some distance from the teaching building, and the sound of the whistling wind seemed to carry sobs.
Lin Shuyue couldn’t hear clearly. She noticed that the footsteps behind her had slowed down and were a bit chaotic. Using the light coming from the teaching building’s office, she turned her head to look.
Including Ah Hao, she saw that several people had pale and terrified faces, their lips were trembling, and one of the girls even had tears in her eyes, looking extremely frightened.
At this moment, a piercing scream suddenly erupted from upstairs. The boys who had been somewhat strong just now also squatted down with their heads in their hands, uncontrollably letting out rough gasps of “huh, huh, huh,” clearly terrified.
“You guys wait for me here, be good.”
Lin Shuyue’s face was stern, but her tone was exceptionally gentle. She looked up coldly at the brightly lit window on the second floor, the fire in her heart suppressed but about to burst.
Although she didn’t know exactly what was happening on the second floor, she guessed it must be some kind of physical punishment or beating of students, no wonder they were so scared.
After saying a few comforting words and settling them in one of the classrooms, she strode straight towards the second floor.
Ah Hao was also scared, but he still resolutely followed. Zhou Bingrong also remembered his experience of being locked in the art room last night and gritted his teeth to follow.
Lin Shuyue climbed the stairs. The closer she got to the infirmary at the end of the corridor, the louder the cries for help and screams became. As if thinking of something, she had a bad feeling.
For a moment, Lin Shuyue wanted to turn around and leave. She was afraid of seeing a scene she couldn’t bear.
Thinking this, she started to jog, faster, faster, faster!
She arrived!
The infirmary was brightly lit, the door wide open, and the scene inside was clear at a glance.
The layout inside was simple, with four operating tables. Three of them already had people tied down with leather straps. Two of the women had their clothes undone, their upper bodies naked, with bruises all over their chests, crying with tears and snot all over their faces.
Another boy was screaming and begging for mercy, his eyes rolled back, foam at the mouth, veins bulging on his forehead and neck. His whole body was shaking frantically like a worm being torn apart by ants, and he had lost control of his bladder and bowels.
At this moment, Xiao Changxin had a cigarette dangling from his mouth, looking pleased and relaxed.
He held something that looked like an iron in his hand and kept pressing it against the boy’s body. There was a “sizzling” sound, accompanied by a burnt smell and a strange aroma of cooked meat…
When Lin Shuyue saw this scene, her eyes turned red with hatred. She took two steps at a time and came to Xiao Changxin’s side…
